Back when I was still in silver/gold league i made a promise to myself to achieve my goal of reaching Diamond League. Ever since I have done so, I have felt less of an urge to play SC2. I said Diamond was my goal and Masters / GM would be my dream. However, since winter break (I'm in college) I haven't really wanted to play a lot.
I started to play a lot of WoW arenas with my bro and our old arena partner in 3v3 (yes I know it's World of Warcraft, no need to poke fun) over winter break because I really missed the vocal aspect of team games. Starcraft 2 1v1 can get pretty lonely and it's nice to sometimes yell around with your friends blaming each other instead of yourselves
But my question is maybe now that I have reached my goal in SC2 I have mentally checked the game off my "list?" I'm sure I will play much more in the future, I wanted to become really good while I'm in college and then maybe attend a few MLGs afterwards for the fun of it. But I don't know, I want to play but when I see all my friends are on WoW, I just choose to play WoW.
Anyways thanks for the read!

Well I guess for some people, achieving their dreams isn't such a big deal.
Congratulations on Diamond btw.

Thank you very much haha.

how about a new goal:
Masters till... march?^^
at least a new goal would motivate to play a bit more. Unless you generally dont want to play anymore and you dont have fun playing anymore, then you should be proud of being Diamond

its a game. if you are having fun, keep doing it. if you arent having fun, do something that is more fun (be it WoW or anything else). when new games come out, i play them and ignore sc2. usually end up back at sc2 though. =)

This. Don't understand why u would try to motivate urself further. U can motivate urself in things that is a lot more important than sc2 lol... or any other game for that matter.
games are for fun.

i hit diamond last year and i kinda stopped playing, yeah it wasnt really fun for me after that point because i knew to improve i'd have to actually sit and think about what i'm doing wrong instead of just playing more
it happens. i'm counteracting it by switching races (and i tried to do so before by playing lots of team games)

if you want team games, play 3s :D
play for fun if no more motivation, or if you find something deep inside of you, go masters!

You could play 2v2. Its semi legit/competitive, there are a few 2v2 tournaments around. Anything bigger than 2v2 is kind of silly/not balanced, and too hectic, but you could get that feeling of companionship and teamwork from 2v2.

If my friends started playing WoW again, I'd probably go back to doing arenas also... Social aspects of gaming is one of the biggest ways for me to justify gaming...
With that said, most of my friends are between games right now so I'll keep up my SC2 :D

for me... my final goal was always diamond.. iv only hit high plat

My friends and I always get together and play some SC2. Usually we just ladder and watch over each others shoulders to offer advice. We started doing this less in the past few months until a couple of weeks ago when we hopped in some team games. Let me tell you, we had a blast! Definitely check that option out, you would be surprised how much fun you can have.

Diamond is meh, get to masters then call it a day. to be comepletely honest getting to masters is pretty meh too.

Congrats on diamond but I think if you've come all this way, you should reach for the stars!

The same thing happened to me. I started as complete bronze noobie, and my goal was to be better than my friends. At the time, the best player that I knew was a Diamond player.
I played about 220 1v1s until I hit Masters. At that point, I sort of lost my motivation, and I returned to playing DotA.
I suppose if you've reached your goal, then you've done enough. If you enjoy the game (ie, you like competition, and lots of disciplined, hard work, which is not unlike playing a musical intrument), then keep playing SC2.

if your goal is to become really good at this game you have a loooooooooooooooooong road ahead of you gl

I kinda know how you feel. I hit masters when it was released and I've played maybe 40 ladder games from that point onwards... I still play quite a bit but just no motivation for ladder x.x

I keep playing SC2 even when I get burnt out, because I always end up wanting to come back and then I think to myself "Man, I could be a lot better if I wouldn't have stopped playing for a month".
I do think new goals lead to new found motivation though. I think you should see how far you can get with some more hard practice and see if you are enjoying the game more at a higher level.

I'm always a supporter of ignoring what a "good job" entails and pursuing the utmost perfection and mastery. If you got what you wanted, go for what you dream.

I started off in bronze. I thought gold was legit. got to gold and i realized i still sucked. Worked and got to diamond and i thought to myself, i still suck at this game. Now im in masters, and i realize i still suck. The only option left is gm. lol
