The past year or so has been a very rough ride. Unfortunately in November of 2010 after being hospitalized with severe stomach pain a few times, I found out that I was suffering from Crohn's disease of the small intestine. Unfortunately it is something that more than likely had been affecting me for years and years on end, but fortunately I now have a diagnosis and know what it is that has been ailing me for all these years.
The first big thing with Crohn's is I have to watch what I eat now. The wrong ingredient can send me right back to the hospital in a few hours time. French fries, potatoes, anything with wheat pretty much, I have to now completely avoid.
Fortunately I have great doctors, have only had a half dozen or so of those flare ups now since I now know I have Crohn's disease.
Then, in Feb of 2011 , during a mountain bike ride , I started to have chest pain. I went to the hospital again when it would not subside to this time find out I had a Myocardial infarction during my mountain bike ride, which tore part of the endothilial tissue in my carotid artery and caused a block.
I was fortunate to be alive, and only have to receive a stent procedure. But that is craziness for a 27 year old by all accounts.
Unfortunately my doctors say I should not continue to mountain bike at that vigorous of a pace, and for the next 2 years I must avoid all trauma to the head (because of the blood thinners I am on).
Mountain biking easily took up all my free time prior to my health issues, so I picked up some video games for the first time in a few years. It started with LoL, but one day while watching a LoL tournament I caught the tail end of a starcraft 2 live broadcast and immediately became enamored.
I started all the way down at the bottom of bronze league a couple months ago, pretty much losing every match I played as Terran. Since then, I have clawed my way up to gold now and am trying to improve everytime I sit at my computer.
The most serious I ever played a video game was probably Counterstrike in which I was making a few hundred bucks a month playing local tournaments down here in AZ and the southwest playing on the pre-release teams AzDD (Arizona dust devils) and [FG] (Finnish Gamers). Unfortunately as I went to college and cs 1.6 was released and gained its popularity, I was stuck with terrible university internet. I would like to say that many of the strategies and spam points still used today in CS were pioneered back in the days of CS beta by my clanmates and I while we were trying to defeat the powerhouse clan X3
I did play a little brood war to the point of massing carriers or zergling rushing, but that was in the 20th century (;D) , and I didn't play very seriously.
Anyways, I'm selling my mountain bike, and purchasing a new gaming computer and going to start streaming. While it really sucks I can't go get some gnar gnar on the mountains here in Phoenix.... and having all these health issues can really literally suck my balls, I am trying to make the most out of the hand I was dealt.
I know that a gold level terran stream might not be fun to watch, but I intend to interact with my viewers, take tips on strategy (which I REALLY REALLY NEED AGAINST ZERG HAHA), and try my darnedest to climb as hard and as far as I can in the starcraft 2 ladders.
Hopefully I get a webcam coming up here in the next couple days to liven up the experience as well. If your ever interested in viewing my stream (streaming terran) you can do so at :
