Beautiful Su-jun , cosseted by her devoted father, meets Chol-su a carpenter in her father's employment. They meet, fall in love and marry, but their picture perfect life become less perfect when they discover that Su-jin has Alzheimer's disease. My Sassy Girl (2001) Based on a series of true stories posted by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet describing his relationship with his girlfriend. These were later transformed into a best-selling book and the movie follows the book closely. It describes the meeting of Kyun-woo (Cha) and an unnamed girl. Kyun-woo is shamed into assisting the girl because the other passengers mistakenly think she is his girlfriend. Once he helps her, Kyun-woo develops a deep sense of responsibility for her which enables him to tolerate (somehow) the girls abuses. My Rainy Days (2009) Extraordinary beautiful 17 years old high school girl Rio possesses the charisma to attract others, and she is always in the company of Miho and Maki. At one stage she saved Tomoko from her bully, Naoko and later joins her group. Rio is good at manipulating her friends and makes herself in the center of attention and always ignores others due to her traumatic past. Money is the most valuable thing for her. Everything changes when she meets a history professor, Kouki Ozawa who is 35 years old and leading a lonely life. Kouki is Rio’s first love where she dares to express her love to him openly and honestly. Kouki is also interested with Rio but since he is suffering from brain tumor and is counting his final days, Rio finds it hard to accept the reality. Will Rio continues her mean and selfish ways to reject Kouki or decides to stick with Kouki until his final days? More Than Blue (2009) "K" loves Cream but has terminal cancer so he keeps his love for her secret and tries to find a mate for her before he dies so she will not be alone after he dies. Shinjuku Incident (2009) This movie is particularly interesting because it focuses on the situation of Chinese illegal immigrants to Japan and (eventually) the clash of the Chinese gangs and the Yakuza. You hear Mandarin, Cantonese and Taiwanese/Hokkien mixed in with Japanese, spoken with varying accents depending on where the speaker is from. The themes of racism and cultural clash are a major focus. Pretty cool stuff, and a great and gripping performance from Jackie Chan.

If you liked Oldboy, you should watch the other movies in Chan-Wook Park's vengeance trilogy; Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance. Both are excellent Korean thrillers. If you like monster movies check out The Host; it is probably one of the better monster movies period with a very cool/bizarre monster. If you like zombie movies Versus is an A+ Japanese zombie thriller and Tokyo Zombie is a good comedy/thriller with Jiu Jitsu. If you like martial arts movies check out The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Ip Man (1 or 2) for good wing chun, or The Protector (1 or 2) with Tony Jaa for some incredible muay thai. For a very sad/dystopia movie with a powerful message, check out Ikigami. For movies that will make you say "WTF IS GOING ON THIS IS WEIRD" check out Big Man Japan or Funky Forest The First Contact.

Then you are ready...36th Chamber of Shaolin Watched this from TV a while back and quite enjoyed it, it's an old kung-fu movie though so you need to know what you're getting into.

"A story of 71 student soldier trainees who fought an impossible war against seasoned North Korean army during Korean War which broke out in 1950. Based on real history, the film delicately depicts the fierce battle that teenage student soldiers fall into as they fight to protect the final defense line by themselves when under a surprise attack and their emotions and conflicts as they experience the grown-ups’ war." Definitely worth checking out

Any other movies recommendations please? Loved the fighting scenes and the overall story/acting. One of the better movies I've seen in 2011 (yes I know it came out in 2010), probably top 3. Only other asian films I've seen is the Ip Man series. EDIT: Well since there are so many recommendations already, a better question would be... do you guys just use torrents to get these movies? Or are there streaming sites available? The only copy of The Man From Nowhere I could find was 5gb... way too much bandwidth for just 1 movie
