I did so and had no problem working hard(ish) again in college. Congrats OP! Having grown up near NW and having tons of friends go there, it's an awesome place to go to college.

For shame. Slacking off is measured on a relative scale people are always so grandiose with their self judgements. "yeah i didnt even go to class and i got Bs, that class is so ez" "I don't even have to pay attention and I'm getting 90s", always saying "yeah I'm getting around 85%, that's average, that's ok." I keep wondering if people are actually just bs'ing. what kind of person would do that? I'm not saying one way or another with the OP. I figure he's probably telling the truth. But, I will say this much, and that is that all through college, people were constantly saying how they never studied and didn't even have to in such and such class, blah blah..., because if anyone found out they had to actually "try," they would be ashamed of their own intelligence level. It's funny how in the States people are embarrassed if they weren't born with obscene levels of talent, while in Korea they are ashamed if they didn't earn it. I think both cultures miss the mark, though, because you should work hard in life, but not everyone starts on a level playing field. Talent is a gift you cannot earn.

You can say that some people don't pick it up again, but there are just as many people who slack off senior year and then get straight As in college. Besides, once you're in college studying something you (hopefully) like, you'll (hopefully) work harder at it by virtue of the fact that you like it and therefore get better grades.

It's even worse if you never put any effort in highschool. I have 19.2 out of 20.00 (an A gives 20, a B gives 15 and C gives 10, add all your courses up and divied them and I put 0 effort into highschool. Does that mean I'm a smartypants? Fuck no I just have real easy for the school formula of doing things, when I got to Uni I got smashed to the ground cause it actually aquired some effort something I wasn't used to at all.

Imo, 10k debt is worth it (in this economy, name value schools will make your job search easier, even if the system is honestly flawed), 100k debt is not. I have 2 degrees and am working at a gas station...well that's in NC, but I'm kinda bitter about that. Anyhow I'm close to 10k in debt, but luckily since I don't make much at all I get to put off loan payments until I can get a job worthy of my education -,-

For sure... I really hope I don't f myself over, but life is life and I guess the best way to look at things istwo ways. 1. Preparation is key. 2. Never make the same mistake twice.

I heard recently the Canadian avg debt by the end of uni is ~27k. And pair that with the difficulty and competitiveness to find a job... ouch.
