On Monday I decided to combine to things I was curious about: 1) the Korean language and 2) the Korean SC:BW pro-scene. I started with Sayle's awesome SPL commentaries and soon felt that Samsung KHAN is the team I like the most, though they don't have Bisu (my by then favorite player).

I like CJ Entus kinda ... mainly because of Bisu. <3
When I learn a language I want to start listening to the target language a.s.a.p. so I decided to pick a player and follow some of his games. I picked stork, whom I remembered from the GOM TV Intel Classic games casted by tasteless. So I browsed Song Byung's data and decided to start my double project with the Incruit OSL 2008.
Now I reached the grand final matches, stork vs Fantasy and I had no fucking clue how awesome even the first match would be. I just finished watching game #1 and I'm blown away. I've seen some big crowds in SC2 so far, but this one is huuuuge. That's pure awesome.
Apart from this rant I want to make a quick shoutout to Plexa, who wrote some of the battle reports I read besides watching stork's Incruit OSL 2008 games.
Edit: I really thought I was fucked a minute ago. The 5th set didn't work in Germany... I hate those copyright issues... Anyways, I've worked my way around it and gonna watch the 38 minutes game RIGHT NOW!
Epilogue: The dust has settled and stork has taken the field. After his first two sets I thought he'd just walk right over fantasy in set3, but he made some mistakes, loosing a lot of reavers through bad micro. Game 4 was great for fantasy, as he countered stork's expo with an aggressive play. The epicness of the final game is hard to describe with words. stork and fantasy played amazing and I was happy when Song Byung Goo broke through fantasy's contain. Funny though, he didn't find the hidden expo the whole game. Anyways "gg". I'll now continue with some Hangul studies and afterwards start one of the Starleagues following Bisu.
Thanks for your attention guys. :-)

Watch Jangbi vs Fantasy, the last OSL... that was an amazing finals.
|
Koreans have their last name first, so his name would be Byung Goo. Not Song Byung.
|
Actually go back a few years there are some all time incredible finals July vs OOV, flash and jeadong dual msl and osl, Savior vs Bisu MSL
|
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will watch quite a few games in the upcoming months.
@mizU I just went with Song Byung as that's what the commentators call him all the time. But thanks for the correction. It's similar to Japanese then. ;-)
Edit: *confused* Mh, the commentators are too fast at the moment. Do they actually say Song Byung Goo or Song Byung? Any Koreans here to correct me? Please! :D

Sounds like you have good tastes. I'll second the Jangbi vs Fantasy recomondation if you want to continue following Khan players.

One of my new-to-BW friends also thought Jaedong was on CJ.

trolling appart, I wish they made SC2 as SC BW was. more "realistic" design and intense music , fights lasting longer..

There's an easy solution to that.

I thought the thread title was
"I had no idea how awesome pressing K in SC:BW is!!"
I fully expected a blog post about someone discovering how DTs are amazing.

Artosis (and Idra) will hate you forever if you talk about how amazing DTs are.
Instead, talk about the pleasure of pressing "O" for the sound of siege tanks going into siege mode. Some people play Terran just because of that sound.

Anyway, great that you discover the Korean BW scene with us!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just added an epilogue to this blog entry and now will go on with a Starleague following Bisu. I copy all your suggestions and will watch them. So far the experience has been amazing. Oldschool Broodwar fighting! I will also continue to watch Song Byung Goo's games of course. <3
PS.: Maybe I will write something nice with the next finals I watch. I'm not sure.
