Tranvestite and Shemale are much more likely to be used in offensive derogatory ways than in the literal, politically correct ways. Therefore, it seems logical to censor it, assuming you believe in any censorship at all. EDIT: If I was a shemale, I don't think I'd ever use that term.

In the same sense, calling someone a tranny does not have a positive connotation. Calling someone a homo as opposed to a homosexual. Calling someone a tranny as opposed to a transvestite. There's a difference, yeah, but the op specifically typed out transvestite.

You're making a sweeping generalization that anyone under the age of 18 is unable to explain or justify their choice on an intellectual level. How ironic lol. You call to uncensor words of differing genders, but want to censor certain ages from communicating their views because you don't think they're smart enough? Oh boy. Ageism primarily (almost exclusively) refers to discrimination based on those who are older. Saying, "I'd prefer people under the age of 18 not give their opinion," is pretty okay in my book as well as the law's book. Seriously, I don't know why people bring up ageism to refer to youths. It isn't. If it was don't you think it'd be illegal for there to be age requirements to serve in public offices or to tell people they can't drink until they're a certain age? It was coined for discrimination against seniors and is used exclusively to describe them. To get back to the topic at hand though, no it's dumb that they're censoring things like shemale or transvestite. They have that right as a company though and honestly if it bothers you stop buying Blizzard products if they won't change their policy.

I just wanted to see the votes, I knew in advance people can't discuss something in a respectful manner on the internet. Thank you all to whom have voted. 1. You thought shemale was not a derogatory term (I didn't know either, but I didn't make the topic). 2. You didn't put your own opinions entirely and asked people to explain if they voted. 3. You prohibited 18 or below people from voting (on top of that, you said they couldn't explain themselves intelligently).

Doesn't transvestite have a very specific definition that isn't encompassed by other words, such as transsexual or transgendered? It doesn't make sense to me to censor words that have specific, useful meanings just because they might be used in a bad way. The history of, and the default derogatory denotations of, words such as "nigger" and "faggot" make them obvious choice for censorship; I think "shemale" is more akin to "gay" or "homosexual" than it is to "faggot." Maybe we would never use that term to describe ourselves, but this is one particular area of language that is confusing - if not "shemale," then what? "Ladyboy" is hardly better! Etc. Do I think less of Blizzard for censoring these words? No, there's a case to be made for that decision. I just think the case for not censoring them is stronger.
