Felt this was blog worthy with all of the jaded feelings about Razer, Steelseries and gaming peripheral makers in general.
I bought two 7H USB headsets in June, one just in case the other broke and I had to RMA it. In August, one of the sound cords broke in headset #1. Thankfully, my backup graciously donated its cord so I wouldnt have to replace the part immediately. I filed a ticket on their site near the end of September and paid $5 to get the part shipped to me.
It worked.. For a while.
A couple weeks after I got the new cord, the sound in my headset became unbalanced. A week later and the only way to get ANY sound in my left ear was to shake the headset a little until the sound came back. So I switched headphones. A week after THAT, headset #2 developed the same problem. So I filed another ticket telling them of this problem.
This is where I <3 Steelseries.
They first sent me the part I had requested to test the problem. It didn't fix the problem in either headset, so three days ago I asked for an RMA for the part. Instead of being assholes like Gigabyte and not responding for three weeks to accept an RMA, I got an email almost at the start of the business day the next day stating that I could send it in for free so long as I could provide proof of purchase. I messaged the rep back asking what would qualify as proof of shipping (since I'm not sure where my purchase receipts from Newegg/Tiger Direct are).
Guy messages me back saying that he'll wave the proof and he just needs the basic purchase/shipping info for the RMA. Then I get on TL to write this.
I dunno if its such a big deal for everyone else, but this is the first time I have ever been so promptly dealt with as a customer with a problem. Considering how they could've made it into a big ordeal with canned responses, long stretches of time without contact and all of those other lovely dodging tactics people get, it means a lot. (GIGABYTE, I'M LOOKING AT YOU)
So thanks, John W AND Steel Series.
As for Gigabyte, I'm never buy a product from you again. My mobo's USB ports stop functioning at times and I had to reflash my 560 Ti TWICE to make it work properly, no thanks to your made-by-Satan-instructions-in-broken-English self updateer.

My first 7h stopped working right and I got that RMA'd and now my replacement is starting to suck but I think it's just the cable. I really like their customer service.

I've had my Steelseries Siberia Neckband for almost a year now with absolutely no issues.
6 months ago I bought a Kinzu Optical mouse. Love it and have no issues except the nylon sheath around the cord is wearing away where the cord drops off my desk which doesn't affect performance at all.
And now I'm asking for a 6Gv2 for Christmas because of the great experience I've had with their other products. Glad to hear that if anything ever does go wrong that the issue will be dealt with quickly.
I'd definitely recommend Steelseries products to anybody.

good to hear about their customer service being good since i was considering getting a 7h myself.... but all those problems, with both headsets is a red flag to me. I mean, both broke multiple times... customer service great - quality decreasing? :-/ IMO you should have never had to go back to them that many times in the first place. Once, maybe twice? since you had two of them? but damn, thats a ton of tech issues with their hardware, unless of course you abuse your headsets but this isnt the first time i have heard of the left ear and the cord issues D:

I had an issue with a 6gv2 I bought of geekhack they were able to send me a new one before I even sent my broken one out because it couldnt be shipped to my dorm and I would only be home for about a week. Great customer service!

The 7H is fantastic (7.1 surround sound is fucking AMAZING), but yeah, a few problems.I wouldn't say I abuse em (don't slam em down or anything), but the cord isn't very well sized for the way my desk is. The keyboard self pulls on the cord, so thats probably the problem with that, but the left ear problem came out of nowhere. Maybe its just the 7Hs that were made at a certain time?
I also own a 6Gv2, but one of the keys has something jammed against it, so if I plug it in, my computer won't start properly. Other than that, awesome keyboard. I don't have a mouse or mouse pad by Steel Series though. Deathadder (Black Version) and a Goliathus pad. If I DO buy one though, prolly get a Kana. Doubt it though, cause the Deathadder is literally the best mouse I've ever used.

It took a little getting used to because it feels like they're about to fall off your ears at first but I'm really pleased with them. They're my first pair of decent headphones, all I've had before are earbuds or shitty $15 headphones, so I don't really know how they would compare to top-end products but I think the sound quality is really good, the retractable microphone is fucking awesome feature, and they're really flexible and compact so I can jam them in my backpack without worrying about breaking them. With a lot of over-the-head style headphones I would get headaches if I wore them too long from the compression but I haven't experienced that with these. If you like your Siberia's but for some reason want the neckband instead I'm sure you'll like them, they have the same style.
