I know that running these types of events are difficult, and I know that I wouldn't even be able to pull off an event even half this size. However, I feel that it should be expected of anyone with the resources to pull off an event like this to be prepared for whatever multitude of technical difficulties that can come their way. I saw a lot of people who were there from the start of the event, all the way to the final game between SaSe and Moon. We were all willing to wait, but I kind of wished that the majority of the crowd that stayed(who really didn't complain) would be rewarded with something more. Quite a handful of people came from the provinces, so I couldn't help but feel bad for them. Nevertheless, I am grateful (and i'm sure many others are, as well) I got a chance to see and meet some E-Sports figures in person (Tastosis <3). So I am thankful that TeamAZK got to pull this part off for the PH community, since this is somewhat of an insular community that's happy enough with its own local scene (as a whole, not just SC2).
Of course, anyone from behind the scenes (TeamAZK) are free to explain things. Also, I hope this event doesn't turn people off (local and foreign) with regards to the capabilities of the PH scene hosting these events as I know other organizations like Mineski put in a lot of work to make good, but less heralded events. The latest event (PGF) seemed well run and everyone looked like they had fun. Hopefully there will be a next time.
Some other notes:
I had an embarrassing encounter with a clan member today at the event. A lot of us were going to meet for the first time at the IPL4 qualis. I don't really know their faces, and one of them got my cell number from another member. He texts me "hey man, are you here already?" I reply "Yeah, I'm at the back. There's a black dude here beside me." A few seconds later, said black guy says its him. I'm so awkward, and I feel racist for using a black person as a a reference point.
Caucasians are tall.
SaSe really seemed tired. Every time I saw him he was just hunched over and resting on the desk.
MKP is a sweetie, giving neck massages to InCa during the downtime.
Tasteless is a handsome nerd.
Allyn Hoang is good at what she does. Got to speak to her for a bit, and she was really nice and accommodating. We asked if she was tired and she admitted to it, but you really couldn't tell.
I'll try to come back with photos for tomorrow. Hoping it'll be better. I have faith!
