No it's not. It's an elitist opinion of what esports should be to put your favourite game about everything else. That's like saying e.g. football reached a bigger audience (first) so MMA isn't a sport.

I thought his post was about how BW has an extremely high level of professionalism that's been established overtime with many skilled people involved, and SCII doesn't have it yet. Just my interpretation.

Why did you do this...Now Destiny is quitting too. Come now, return to us before this gets out of hand and avilo leaves us too T_T.
This better be a troll, you do know he was joking right? -.-

I don't think esport has any definition (if there is, show it to me please). So if for Milkis (or any other guy) esport means being on tv, players having huge salaries, being watched by millions of people... then yes, bw is the only true esport.
If you think that just having tournaments with prizepool is sufficient to be an esport, then well it's your opinion, nobody can argue with it if there is no proper definition.
It's the reason why Milkis called his post "elitist" in the first place.

no its not. its like saying that footballs professional training and media management, large audience and representation and control at a international level by a governing body with real power make it a sport.
but mudwrestling although has a popular niche is just 2 girls in bikinis making soft core porn, no matter how much fun it is.

It's more the lack of professionalism, especially from some prominent community members. Take a look at actual sports, if a person on a panel or something says something really controversial of course the average person is probably going to flame/cuss him out but people in other shows/panels who work in the field don't air their opinions in public like that. The fact that other people who represent the community are taking it completely personally. I just think it reflects bad on the starcraft community as a whole when they display such a lack of professionalism. Also I wonder how badly Korea is lulzing at how melodramatic the foreign scene is. Edit: Also 'us bw guys' != 'I represent the bw community' I'd think... So your definition of a sport is "competition where community figures don't dare voicing their opinion out of fear of sounding unprofessional".
It's certainly the first time I heard that one.

Without Western eSports pre-StarCraft 2 SC2 wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it is (in terms of tournaments). IEM, MLG, DreamHack, etc, were all pushing eSports long before SC2...

Well it was clearly said "BW is the only esport" which is the only thing i disagreed with.

Incorrect, you don't see commentators of other sports throwing mud the way commentators and other community notables for SCII did just recently. I think they said things they really shouldn't have publicly because for better or worse they are people of influence and you get shitstorms like this that just look bad on everyone at the end. Professionalism doesn't involve ad hominem attacks on the person, if you have a problem with their argument go after it, not the person who made it.
Edit:

Haha fair enough, although I saw it as more "BW is the only esport *because* of x, y, and z." I don't see why there has to be all this mud slinging in response to a thought out and reasoned opinion =\

Everything else is, in Milkis' view, not an e-sport. That's what a lot of people are pissed off about, including guys like DJWheat.

You might want to look up the definiton of sport, there's nothing in there about any audience at all. Do you even realize how many competitive sports there are that don't get the full professional treatment? I'd like to name female soccer as an example where most players need to have a normal job too but there'll probably be some idiots claiming that "it's only women lol", yet they have leagues, international championships and all that.

As someone who doesn't enjoy the pressure of being in charge or in the limelight, I can appreciate the pressure from being dragged into the thick of it and being totally vulnerable. I can really sympathise with the breakdown from all the pressure and work Milkis has been through.
But to go out like this is really disappointing, considering how much more support I've seen for him than criticism. He's been saying things like this on twitter for a while, so I can't say this entirely surprises me.
Regardless, it's the loss of an important and hardworking figure in esports.

As much as people are saying that it is simply a vocal minority rearing its ugly head, you have to wonder why image macros making fun of the situation are at the top of reddit. Doesn't help that destiny is joining the fun. If people actually cared about Milkis, those things would not be on top of reddit. When people as awesome as Milkis are driven out by hatred and abusiveness, just because he made an opinion which people disagreed with (djwheat didn't help here), you have to wonder why anyone outside of starcraft would want to join us.
