You have to have thick skin to survive the world. The world is a cold hard brutal place.
The shit Sundance has gone through, TotalBiscuit, inControl, Kelly, etc, etc etc. - either man up or get out. Wheat is a strong personality, whenever I hear him say something ignorant, stupid, or insulting that I could take offense to it, I don't take it personal. Hell, he could say I was garbage and I should be embarrassed to be xxx yyy or zzz - I don't care.
You get it overtime, eventually you'll get it and look back and realize.
That said, everyone needs thicker skin. This is just silly a culture can support the obvious calling out of people that are fat or ugly or out of shape etc... but can't take petty comments.
It's a shame to see you go, you're a great personality and a great translator - but the world, outside and inside the SC2 community is brutal. Fuck, the SC2 community for as rough as it can be is candyland compared to some communities.
|
I never wanted to be popular nor did I want attention (although I guess I did enjoy it, but it's not something I ever wanted). It's the last thing I wanted. Sorry bro, if you didn't want the attention and just wanted to contribute, you wouldn't follow up every reply on your blog with some self-deprecating response hoping for more positive feedback. I didn't know being able to speak Korean and hanging out with the best SC2 progamers was such a huge burden on you, bet there's tons of Korean speakers who would fucking kill for what you got to do.
You can't say you didn't love the attention and yet repeatedly ask for it. You loved the attention and once it got negative, you decided to take your toys and go home.

one of my friends looks up to Milkis as an idol but now he is sad.

MILKIS, YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW.

What a mess. People are really needy for some drama right? I kind of ready more or less what all of this was about and tbh this looks like a huge call for attention.
All I have to say is, Milkis, do what you think is best. I have the feeling that you took this decision without thinking at all.

Agree with this 110%. The more you want to be in the public eye and succeed in general in life, the more people are going to have opinions of you and the stronger those opinions are. Also the internet is full of hyperbolic hate from neck beards posting at the speed of light. It's deal with it or stay in the shadows.

You can't just leave because someone gives you resistance or critizise you, thats just weak. I really like you Milkis, and i really appreciate you and what you do, i follow your twitter, read all your blogs etc.
I haven't expected this from you milkis. Weak, just very weak.

This entire thing is so silly.
You'll be back. You have had some amazing opportunities and throwing all of that away because some idiots on the internet don't like you would be, quite frankly, absolutely retarded.
Enjoy your little break, Milkis! See you soon.

"I'm done. I guess it's good riddance for all of you." I never really cared either way, but with that, i agree good riddance there are much better translators
|
Too bad you feel this way, Milkis. I've enjoyed your work, and I certainly have understanding for the pressure/difficulty with the live translations on stage. Please don't take the trolls too seriously, the Internet can be a harsh place sometimes
But of course, the decision is yours whether you put up with them or not. I wish you good luck with your future projects, and that you perhaps one day return to us!

He said "for all of you," not "to all of you." Big difference.

What do they call it, the vocal minority. As far as I am conserned you are a damn good translater and even though I dont particuarly agree with your opinion that does not change the fact that you have always done a great job, and I am sure that the vast majority of us would agree. I am sad to see you go maybe you will realize that trolls be trolls and start putting out content again but either way, thanks for what you did man
|
Ye well, seems like he chose the easy way out. If you only look for the bad comments and critizism you'll never notice the good that you probably never paid any attention too. Although it's sad to see someone leave as you just now are, thinking about how involved you've been and such, I rly dont agree at all. Go focus all your great energy and passion into something where you dont get "hurt" back.

Hey Milkis, i know you don't know me, but i've been watching you translate and reading your translations for a long time. if you need someone to yell at, talk to or anything, PM me and you'll get my cell #. I'd much rather be the target of the frustration and anger with the idiots who attack you than the community. Just wanted to let you know that even if you don't know me (yet) i'll gladly be there for you if you need me.
<3 your work, also PM me if you ever are going to be in orlando again and i'll buy you lunch/dinner. i knowyou don't want to be well known, but you are and that means some people dislike you, and others, many more, love you.
Thanks for everything so far.

I didn't agree with what you posted on Reddit. I like your translating working with MLG. I hope you don't fade away like some of the other flash in the pan community figures, because overall I think you have more to contribute. Good luck with whatever you do in the future, be it with eSports or something else.

|
Best of luck in your future endeavours, Milkis. Thanks for the translations both on TL and at MLG, as well as organising MKP's trip to Orlando. Community's going to miss you.

I agree completly, the concept of having thick skin, and filtering out bad comments/opinions is crucial for success in our world now-a-days. I was a semi-public figure from another online community, and I can say the starcraft community is realy timid compared to some of the other ones, they are just brutal. The community I came from, simply looking like Milkis will get you 500+ shit comments on a youtube video.
