Seriously: I spent too much time playing Minecraft.
I swear I will be less active from now on that school starts tomorrow. But I do feel like showing off some of my creations since I got the game a couple of weeks ago.
This game has seriously cultivated my OCD. I am extremely tempted to build some of the even neater stuff seen on Youtube, but I am playing on a SMP server and If I play more my academics will certainly be doomed.
Note 1: I suck at using bukkit residence. Please don't flame me. Note 2: While I do watch tutorials on Youtube, people often go way too fast for me to memorize the details. Usually I will just try to get the key point from videos then try to mix with my own ideas. As a result things often turn out horrible and I had to re-do some of them.

Mini Cacti Farm
Yes, you can grab items across glass panels. I found out about this by accident. Due to the size of this thing, it works very slowly. Hence patience is virtue.
Mob Grinder. If you look very hard there is a string on the ground near my cursor.
This grinder is feeding off a 5-level, 16 m^2 per level mob tower. Some tutorials tell me to put a cactus on the 2m channel to filter out the spiders; this did not work well for me at all (mostly because the base of the cactus would block the water flow). After that I decided to change the cactus to a block of lava, and all of a sudden things work out better. To be honest, the one-block lava is probably redundant anyways, but I am too lazy to take it off at the moment.
Get the items here!
What is this, I wonder...
Must... resist... temptation... to do... something stupid...

No, you probably won't be killed. It was designed to scare people, but hopefully not to kill them. First of all, the spot where the lever is at is a safe spot; lava cannot flow there. There are sticky pistons which lowers the floor of this short hallway by one block except the spot where the lever is. Therefore, as long as you stand at where the lever is, lava can't harm you. Also, lava flow fairly slowly so there is plenty of time to react. Furthermore, when the lever is flipped a second time, the lava on the hallway floor instantly disappear due to the pistons.
My Automatic Farm: I designed this one myself. I am fairly sure I am not the first one to make something like this, but the ones I often see can only plant one row of wheat, which is a bit inefficient imo. Here's mine:
If you throw an item on that wooden pressure plate (or, even simpler, is to simply step on it):
Then I will jump in and grab everything. Replant and repeat.

Wow! Is it based on Pixel Shader 4.0?

mob grinders with lava suck, they burn the dropped items! building a "head-over F" pure drowner, that just eats everything (skelletons, creepers, zombies, spiders, slimes) is way better for your drop rates.
there seems to be no good description on how to build these though.. maybe write a little howto after my two upcoming exams ;P

theres also the falling grinders but they take a lot more space

whoa wait, how does the auto-harvesting work?

He floods the field with water, I assume its either pistons moving the gravel away... or something destroying the gravel

is this game like harvest moon or something?

it's like that i guess bc there's farming elements, plus legos (you dig and build shit primarily) and a bit of zelda (all of the major recent updates are to add adventure and rpg elements while keeping it open ended)
your server allows mob grinders and cacti farms still?? Those things bog down servers soooo bad
I love leaving little random traps like that all over, and creating dungeons. I'm kind of sitting out on my server since 1.9 is quite close.

On each side (you can see from the pictures) there are 5 blocks of water source. Those are blocked by blocks of gravel. Below this layer, there are 3 pistons on each side. When I step on the pressure plate, the piston retracts, lower the pistons (thus the gravel too, due to gravity). This allows the water to flow into the field from the 1, 3, and 5 position on each side.

The farm is epic, I never really thought about that. I'll have to do it sometime in my own servers. Nice achievements there lol. I've been playing off and on for almost a year but haven't really made anything too epic (that didn't get deleted when my computer crashed anyhow).

Thanks, I never thought about my farm this way.
To be honest, I built it because I was extremely annoyed at the fact that farmland gets destroyed sometimes when I step on it. After breaking my second stone hoe this way I decided to find a better way to do this.
So yea, I was epic-lazy.
