I am a student of computer science in Germany and am now done with all my preliminary tests and stuff, and can now go on to write my final diploma thesis. Because i have to work on this thing for 6 month straight, i want to write on a topic that really interessts me and i enjoy working on. So at the moment i am kind of brainstorming and i noticed that i enjoy everything involving sc2 quite a bit, so i was thinking, why not try to find something sc2 related.
Luckily my study path allows me to take a wide variety of topics into account. It could be some technical stuff, like AI-related things or even something empirical like the impact of e-sports on the society or something like that. Basically there are no real boundaries topic-wise. The only requirements i have to meet are:
a) Scientific relevance. At best there would be one or more existing scientific paper or a book or sth. that is scientifically acknowledged, that i can build upon or at least derivate.
b) Complex enough to justify 6 month of research and to produce around 80-100 pages of a final document.
c) Have at least somewhat of a practical part. This can be anything. For example if i would design something with the map-editor, that would do. If i would do an online-survey, that would do. Hell, if i built a clay-model of something to prove a point, even that would do (maybe).
So now my call goes out do you guys. Can you please help me brainstorm? Or do you even know something in this area? Maybe you´re aware of the existance of a scientific approach or a paper or sth that someone else did. That would be awesome! Or do you think this is impossible, and sc2 is not adequate to be looked upon scientifically. Please let me know.
Thanks!
