So just by being invited to this tournament, you get 100€?
I dislike prize pools which drop too fast, but isn't this going over the top as well? :-/

Well, your money, your rules, but I am really curious what led to this decision.

This has been addressed in the thread basically the pro's give up their time to entertain us so they should be rewarded for it.

One thing I have been wondering about the SCI is the maps used in the tournament. Just wondering if some of the maps people have made here on TL may end up being used in the future. The MoTM competition has had some fantastic maps and it would be awesome if some of those could get some exposure. I know it wont be possible for this SCI as maps etc. will have been sent to players once they accepted the invite but for future it could be fantastic.

Consider how actual sports work, specifically boxing. As a professional boxer, you are paid for your time. You receive a fee regardless of whether or not you win. If you win, you receive a larger fee, so the incentive is there. While in boxing a fighter would not be involved in multiple matches in an event due to obvious physical reasons, in this case, our "main event", our PPV as it were, our "title match", will be the grand finals of the tournament. As usual, the fighters in the main event are paid a higher amount.

SCI is the structured in a similar way to a boxing event. If a player cannot afford to be a pro, then he will have to take a full time job, lessening both his available time to practice and his will to do it. It is in the best interests of the foreign scene that more players are able to go pro and that means getting paid for their time. In this case, I believe all 8 of my players will put on a good show and should be paid for their time, I do not believe that players of this calibre should be being repeatedly asked to give up their time yet potentially not receive any compensation for it. They are all of a high enough level that they should be able to demand some recompense for attending. This is not the way SC2 works right now and it may never work this way, but in my events, it does.

I certainly believe Nerchio will if he plays anything like he did in go4sc2 just now. randoms game 1 vs GM protoss, draws P, goes fast expand into mothership. wins before he can transition to carriers. randoms game 2, draws Z, goes 1 base infestor rush, kills the main with infested terrans. game 3, offraces as T, other guy also offraces as Z, lands about a dozen nukes for 3-0 sweep.
