The last tournament that was sponsored by Memory Express was Duke Nukem Forever, and even though the game sucks, the tournament was awesome. The prizes given out are always top notch, and the atmosphere is really good. It's great to see a computer store that cares so much about its community.
It has been a pleasure having them as a sponsor for our Starcraft 2 tournaments from day 1. As long as they see the community enjoying the tournaments they will continue to support the community.

Calgary had an event advertising a large sum of money ( most of it swag) but at least they had a 1250 cash prize for top three. This is a trend I'm seeing in Canadian gaming and i hope we move past it fast. I'm sick of the over advertised events that aren't really helping the competitive scene.
its a step in the right direction ofc! But tons of events give away swag but its the events that push the cash prizes to legitimate sizes that will become successful
all the best for this event and good job landing some big names. Ill be looking forward to future events with actual cash prize pools
edmonton gaming ftw well, u will get more than what u put as an in-puts unless u choose to get better efficient opportunity costed works, than game. still I can tell is, this event is a huge sausage part..... GAMING PARTY ! prepared for everyone willing to play their local players, don't be too negative archaic since ur teammies will own this :D Oooooh, Jungho. As for Archaic: they're doing great. They've gone a far way in just a year (if that), and if you hadn't noticed, winners and high placers get a percentage of the total entry-fee pool. Considering the base-line prizes and the huge community we have in Vancouver, I'm going to guess the pool will be quite substantial. Or did you miss that prize-pool part? Stop being negative because you think it's not worth your time. This is a tournament for Vancouver, and I'm impressed with how far our tournament guys have come. Im not denying their doing great. They are! If i hadnt of noticed the 60 percent of prize pool i would have said there is no cash prize. What i said is theres BARELY a cash prize. And compared to the swag there is virtually no cash prize. Its not a question of whether it is worth my time or not. Its NOT because i couldnt even cover the cost of going there if i got first (unless you get something like 50 people signed up just for the masters/ grand masters event...then i might break even if i got first....) Hey man im just a player whos speaking out because the event is excluding competitive people like me that are out of town. I cant justify travelling (and im sure other competitive people out of town feel the same) to compete in tournies unless there are decent CASH prize pools and like i said im looking forward to future events with significant guaranteed CASH prize pools tQ Fighting!!! one of u better beat drewbie since im not there :p edit : I really dont think im being very negative at all, i said it makes me sad that i can't logistically attend this event because its catering to local rec players and not to more the competitive scene as l2sc or *cough cough project x did.. I wish i could attend but as far as money is concerned i cant..and thats why im sad.
Thank you for clarifying your thoughts tQArchaic. In the future when we can afford to front out some more cash or find sponsors that are willing to just give out money maybe then we can see more out of towners to come out and participate in our events.
I take it as feedback what you said. It is interesting and helpful for us to know that to attract outside players they want to see more money not products that our sponsors are willing to give out. We will look into this in the near future. It's a lot easier said and done, sponsors tend to rather give out products then straight up cash for lots of business reasons unless your sponsoring a GSL tournament.
Hope to see you at our future tournaments.

To qualify for the august 20th tournament you must place top 8 in CODE S on august 6th. CODE S is Masters- Grandmasters.
$20 registration fee breakdown: $10 goes to venue. $10 goes to pool.

What would I be in the tournament if between now and then i shift code leagues?

Registered for Code B,
I am top Gold right now and I could "possibly" make it to platinum,
If I do will I be automatically registered into Code A?
By the way, if I can't make it even though I registered will I have to email someone or do I just not show up?
Thanks

Doesn't matter what code you are now. If you get promoted you will be put into CODE S.

Email would be very kind of you but it is not a requirement. If you get promoted to CODE A it would be nice of you to email us to let us know before hand. We will find out the night before which League every player should be in and will place them accordingly.

Nothing negative to say about this one. You guys are doing great job down in BC, I'm very happy with the sponsors you brought into the event. I will be down in BC (Victoria island mostly) in late August and try my best to stop by

Signed up! Woot! Hope I don't get my butt handed to me too soon :'(

Wow it sucks to be a master leaguer. You'll only get crushed by GM and pro players. On the other hand Diamond seems to be a sweet spot. Why do people always lump masters & GMs...

Not enough Grandmaster players to have their own League. That simple. Be surprised how many good Masters players there are here as well.
