There’s a certain skill to trying to convey the nitpicking humor between Woongjin Stars’ Neo.G_Soulkey and ZerO to the fans. Doing winner’s interviews when both Neo.G_Soulkey and ZerO win is enough to drive a reporter crazy. They rib on each other to the point where you sometimes wonder whether they’re actually enemies. But, as you need two hands to clap, Neo.G_Soulkey’s dissing counterpart disappeared. ZerO fell into a 4 game losing streak, and the team’s performance declined. Whatever the reason, Neo.G_Soulkey was unusually sober this time around.
Q: Thoughts on your part in today’s win.
Neo.G_Soulkey: We ended our 2 loss streak. I’m proud we could combine our efforts and snap the streak.
Q: Wondering whether you tried harder because it was CJ Entus.
Neo.G_Soulkey: It’s not the time to fuss about opponents. Our team’s results haven’t been good, so the goal we’re working towards is to win all the rest of our round 2 matches.
Q: Your play today was flawless.
Neo.G_Soulkey: In practice, there are lots of times when a protoss will get dropped but use the units he has to turn the tides. I figured out effective ways to prevent that, and since I managed that today there wasn’t any trouble. The momentum shifts today were within expected ranges.
Q: They were tactics from the master.
Neo.G_Soulkey: They were strategies ZerO and I had prepared together. Circumstances [in the games] were going to dictate who used them, so it’s hard to say they belonged to one person or another.
Q: You have the best results on your team. Any words for your seniors?
Neo.G_Soulkey: Nothing to rib them about. Everyone’s got the skill, but there’s been a trend of matches falling apart. But I still have faith that they’ll do well.
Q: How was ZerO’s performance today?
Neo.G_Soulkey: I feel like the win was decided with the build orders. It’s not that his skill’s deteriorated, just that luck didn’t go his way.
Q: It seems like you’ve gotten a lot humbler
Neo.G_Soulkey: In all honesty, it’s a lot more fun to do interviews where I’m smiling and making wisecracks, but now isn’t the time. The team’s not doing well, and my interview partner ZerO isn’t doing well either. The timing isn’t right for disses. It’s a more serious time all around.
Q: You’re leading the zergs in number of wins
Neo.G_Soulkey: I like it. I want to use this to try and take on Flash, Bisu, Fantasy, and the rest.
Q: You’ve got the match with Samsung left. Who do you want to face?
Neo.G_Soulkey: Doesn’t matter. Whoever it is, I’m confident I’ll win. I feel like I’ll face someone aggressive, like TurN, but I can win. I’ll just be patient and use defilers to throw dark swarms everywhere, and I’ll win.
Q: Evaluate hOn_sin and light's wins.
Neo.G_Soulkey: hOn_sin’s game had some flaws. On the flip side, light’s game was immaculate. If hOn_sin could watch and learn from light a little more, I think he’d show a much more complete game in his next win. It would be huge for the team if those two terrans could find some kind of synergy.
Q: Anything you want to say.
Neo.G_Soulkey: Many thanks to our coaches for thinking up strategies and watching over us. I hope we can use this momentum and get to the finals.
