Hey, yesterday i got promoted from platinum too diamond after having a 9 game win streak. After the promote i did call it a day, and when i woke up this morning i was excited too resume laddering. First game i played i was slightly favored (against a toss) and i lost stupidly against a 4-gate: losing 17 points. next few games i was also slightly favored, winning only 6 points when i won and losing 17 if i lost.
The strange thing though was that it wasn't high plat players that i was favored against, but it where high diamond players. (wich would be strange imo after just getting a promote into diamond.) So my question is, has anyone expierienced this strange jump in mmr? And should i just continue laddering without fear of getting demoted again soon?

I thought this was going to be a discussion about the Wakefield report claiming a link between autism and the MMR vaccination. Oh well, got my hopes up xD

And should i just continue laddering without fear of getting demoted again soon? Being promoted or demoted shouldn't stop you from playing. If you feel that way you should stop playing right now because you are in the top ~20% of players and you do not want to get demoted.
edit: misread the op on a few words -.-

I know a friend who records his games and info, and after he got promoted after the unlock of ladder to diamond, out of about 40 games, only 2 he was even, while the rest he keeps being slightly favored aggainst every kind of diamonds.

It's just the ladder and its unknown mechanics. You cannot expect a non-transparent system to function perfectly, you can only assume it.
Just keep playing and report back in two weeks. I'm curious what has happened by then..

My MMR has also skyrocketed after being promoted to Diamond. I went from getting +12/-12 at Rank 1 Platinum, to +6/-18 in Diamond consistently for about a dozen games, in all of which I was "slightly favored".
It's as if the system is expecting me to 3-1 these guys, when in fact the skill difference is pushing me to 1-3 and below. I have no idea what to do besides losing a lot and forcing my MMR back down.
I'm assuming this is all a consequence of the previously frozen leagues, but it's very irritating that Blizzard hasn't even mentioned this MMR issue at all. It's very rare that Blizzard gets a -1 in my book, and this is one of those cases.

MMR doesn't receive any impact for your demotions nor promotions, that said, your MMR is more or less the same as before.
What did happen to you and a lot of other players after the promotion unlock seems to be a bug, but not a MMR bug, not even a "pontuation" bug. What happened is that for some reason the promotion system promoted you to a high tier diamond division (maybe even a S Rank diamond). That means that right now you have too much more points than you should have, because in are in a division with a quite high offset. You shouldn't be there, so it is a bug, I recommend you reporting it at battle.net foruns so Blizzard can track it and resolve this bug for future players. But I'd like to emphasize that the bug was at your promotion, you should be in a weaker division, your MMR and points are working just fine!

I started in the Diamond league with about 812 points, which I thought was rather high. I thought it was because I did so well in Platinum 8-\.

Hi
I have similar "problems" in 4v4. The MMR tells me (after the match) that my team (4x gold) are even with 2x Master,1x diamond, 1x silver.

TO SOLVE ALL UR QUESTIONS,
blizzard ladder was locked for a few weeks so that no one was promoted. in that time whatever u played, ur mmr raised when u won more games, but u werent able to be promoted. so now that its not locked anymore, its probably that getting promoted ur mmr was already over the diamond threshold for a while since u couldnt get promoted until the newest patch.

In my 4v4 team we won a match against some gold people (we were in gold) the game after it put us against a master 4v4 team and we won so we were promoted to platinum, the next game we won against master people and were promoted again to diamond. I just thought it was very strange that there was a huge jump in the skill level of the people we were playing.

This is a different situation, nothing abnormal is happening to you, try reading this thread and asking questions there if needed:

I bet your Dutch (or French or German) skills are perfect.
I understand that being born in a country which main language is the "internation" language might lead you to think that it is as easy to you to express yourself in English than it is for the rest of the world. But it is not, you're not smarter than anyone for having a better English proficiency, common, you are a native speaker and he and myself are not.
You will find a lot of non-native English speakers in this forum, so please, don't ever mock someone for a mistake like this again. Let me guess, you can't speak/write another language other than English.
