why is there no more nation wars?
i know, most national team players swtiched to SC2, but there is still a hole bunch of new, old and up comming players who are looking foreward for more competition, i think nation wars will give back this old spirit of competition, and a reason for D/D+/C- players to improve in order to join his national team.
I remember back in the days (LoL 1 and a half year ago) most new chilean players were training for a shot in the Chilean Squad, it was awesome, cause it increased the level of chilean competition A LOT, you can say that DinOt, NbA, UltrA, GoTuNk, pALLo, Cruzago, Sendoh, and KilleR, all started their carreers hoping for a spot in the national team...
i think making a league of national teams may not be so difficult for a Site like Iccup or even for TL.
i think the best way to do it, is making national tourneys all over the place, making a secondary account in iccup with players id+ national tag: USA-Player or CHL-Player. Or even giving the national players a [N] next to his ID in the iccup page, like it used to be in wgtour.
The second important part is captains, i don't know how you can choose a good captain for your national squad but i may not be hard...
is this an insteresting idea for you guys? Or im just dreaming of the past?

I can agree with that. It was also fun betting on GG.net on which Nation would win. Also I think your right in saying that a lot of gamer's would try to improve to make the National team. I'm all for it. Good post.

i remeber NWs being so cool back in the days just by supporting your country, waiting for results and beting... With todays tools it would be unbeliveble awesome, stream, good coverage, hype... i just can't imagine how cool it could get...

To be honest, the nation war scene had been dead for about a year even before sc2 beta came out. I think I'm technically still the leader of the uK team so I would be interested if there was a revival,

Perhaps we really should organise a new skool nation wars. Problem is getting people to play nowadays i think...
This will be really fun. I wasnt around back then during nation wars existed.

I think the main problem is that it would be dominated by the few good players who did not switch over. And then, the rest of the team is just filler players. Simply put, it would be very... one sided during most of the games imo.

I don't think that matters in a regular format CW, I mean, we have KT flash and Oz Jaedong
I think the idea is very cool, and maybe for areas with not many players nations could be turned into regions (south america team, UK, etc)

Yes, people, we do know that the nation wars have died a while ago but if everyone put 1 little bit effort, we can surely do some stuff.
Also i am very sure that iccup will definetly help with this.

GosuGamers hosted the last nationwar league, about a year ago, but when the SC2 Beta came out alot of players dropped (I was one of the leaders of the German team and we had problems with several players switching over to SC2, not attending the NW's).
I think reforming national teams would be great because now we know who will still be here.

lol I'm French living in China. I'm not good enough to join the Chinese team, but there are too few French players to have their own team. Any country wants to naturalize a C protoss player ? :D

i am all for this! I think if there was a reason for all the best players of every nation to actually represent their country (a league with high prestige, or cash prize even?) then this would be highly successful. There also need to be motivated national team leaders for every nation involved, which I think was one of the shortcomings of the last few nationwar leagues. Some nation leaders would treat their nation like their clan, and select players based more on preference than ability.

This sounds like a wonderful idea, even if we can't get a sponsor.
I hope someone with experience in organizing tournaments sees this thread and picks this up!

Would love to see a resurgence in BW man o man it would be so nice, I'm just D at best but I'd be down to shoot up farther if there were a reason like this.
