In the old days the Team Leader would be picked by the nation itself. Every nation had their own forum so they could discuss this things. In Bolivia the leader was always chosen without too much trouble. We always respected our leaders and everybody in the team would decide the National team stuff. The leader was just there as a contact between other nations and the National team.

This might be a good idea.
Though if the time comes when there is sufficient activity (hopefully with AU/NZ), we may consider separating by individual countries again.

In any case, a set of format/rules is now pending approval, I'll keep you guys updated.
If everything goes well, we can hopefully get the event rolling by early next season.

Well, if there are a lot of AU/NZ players, you could split it up into North SEA and South SEA.

I think North South East Asia has a nice ring to it.

How many US players are there actually?

I would assume that even though we're big, we have a lot of more fickle gamers.

We could probably get some threads going in blogs or something like that recruiting players, so we know who we have and where they are... particularly useful for some spread-out countries with few players.

I don't really know how many people can participate yet, but I would guess it shouldn't be a problem for popular countries like US/KR/CA/PL/etc.

This would be really great, especially for relatively more inactive countries at the moment. The more we can be certain that a country has enough activity to participate, the better.
When the event is up and running, we will probably have a new forum section on iccup dedicated specifically to this event (don't take my word on this though). And it will probably be logical for team leaders to post recruitment threads there.

People sometimes tend to favor their clanmates, and not the entire team may support one person as their leader.

I think when it comes to choosing team leaders. Choose those who are unbiased or cannot be biased.

also if you're looking for a canadian coach could do it. I'm not a good player, but I am replay admin at iCCup so I have that analyst brain that could help. Plus access to replays not seen anywhere else. gives the canadian team a good hand on the competition.

I have yet to think of a fair way to elect team leaders yet. But I'll definitely give it some thought in regards to various aspects

are you saying you want to decide who are the teamleaders? That would be very ridiculous.

No, I won't be deciding.
But I do need to make a logical procedure on how team leaders should be elected.
If any of you have suggestions, please share them.
Thanks

Each country has its own community and people know each other, maybe not too good, but they do and mostly know who is good for that job, even which players are good enough to be in the team, it's mostly already known and doesn't just have to be chosen by one guy who has the leader role.

How about this. each perosn who wants to can nominate themselves and have a sort of tl poll for each country.

so each person applying would write a little (1 paragraph ) bio on themsevles and sc, and the leader would be decided by votes. of course only problem is you can't control who votes for which conuntry. so we would have to trust the tl community to do proper voting.

of course there would be a deadline for applicants to submit their nomination. and the polls would go up for lets say two weeks and then would be decided on most number of votes. in case of a tie. the poll would stay up longer.

I'm thinking something along the lines of having previous leaders and/or players who have sufficient leadership positions to stand up and act as temporary leaders.
We can then see if we need new ones judging from the team's condition. How's that sound?

For countries who are in need of leaders, yeah masterbreti I like that idea.
