Hey there, a friend and I here in Denver have talked about this for a while and now here we are to try getting it rolling. We're looking for other players who are at least half serious about 1v1 and improving their play. Ideally, you would be somewhere in the diamond or master league range as that is where we already are and if you're much lower than that, your games with the rest of us will probably just be you getting stomped.
Right now we have a few ideas for spaces we can use to LAN, depending on how many of us there are, but are in need of some suggestions for areas that would suit larger groups. Got anything?
It'd be really nice to start a real SC2 scene here in Colorado. After having attended the TL Colorado meet-up we had some months back, it was obvious that we have the people and passion for SC to make that happen.
Part of what I want to experience out of this circumstance is the benefits that come with being able to discuss gameplay with several people, at length, and to watch (and be watched) gameplay first-hand, including getting to see their mechanics. Replay watching, trouble-shooting - even some stream and tournament watching because we're just enthusiasts who appreciate the hell out of this game. At some point, maybe we can start running in-house tournaments with silly prize pools.
Meeting times? Undecided! We're pretty lax and impromptu about it right now, but it's not out of the question that we develop a schedule for ourselves as we get the people and can figure out what timeframes work best for everyone. And I should also note that we practice with each other regularly from our own places as well.
If you'd really like to hang out around us or get involved, but aren't in the skill level range described above - still post or PM me! The only reason I'm not truly extending an open invite to everyone and their family is because of the limited space at our LAN locations currently.
If you're interested please post here and we'll get back to you via PM. Let's do this Colorado SC2ers!
Currently involved players (with skill level, race and character codes):
Lumi - 862 - 30s master Zerg TicTock - 352 - top 8 diamond Protoss

definitely interested. I go to school out of state, but I'll be back for the summer.

We have a lot of great players in colorado, plus we have lan/tournaments in boulder and colorado springs like 4 times a year. We have like 3 grand masters players in our state alone that I know of, just show up to some of the events.

Yeah I've heard we have some regular activity in boulder and the springs but both are pretty far out from denver to be doing that trip as regularly as I'd like to have something like this going on. Otherwise, I know that I would personally be all over that business ;o Also, where do you guys meet, and is there any kind of regularity to it? I was thinking we'd just add a denver group to the mix and then we could all meet-up for bigger get togethers (like the DU meet in feb) as they come along. But I'd definitely like to stop by one of the other groups nights sometime, if there's space.

I'm down to participate. Just graduated school, and it's time for me to start practicing.

I'm without net for a week but will be looking to get this practice lanning going when that is over, so, be poking me around then, and I'll be doing the same with you. I need grandmasters!

Yeah definitely. And we're ready to but there is an issue of space to do this \= especially if we're aiming at anything over 3 people. And even with three, we still need at least one long collapsible desk to setup for two people to share. If anyone has or can get that, my room can hold 3 people and I'm down to practice almost daily. Otherwise, who has some space?
|
Well what part of Colorado are you from? I have a table that can hold 2 comps on it easily. But as for space we might need a public spot maybe... idk if we could get something with university of denver or something like that... i know they held a party there but did not attend or know any other details
|
Also... we might be able to contact a Lan Center that does not support SC2 atm and ask if we could possibly use their facility for a day like once every other week for their rates... but we would bring our comps.. they provide everything else... i think this is way more reasonable for our situation atm

I'm a low Masters Protoss (~500pts) and I've been looking for some practice partners so local ones would be even better. I'm in Lakewood. I go to Mines though, so I'm on a decent amount but not all the time.

Myself and my usual partner are in Denver. There aren't any LANs in colorado really. Been there checked that. The best option I can see is really smallscale 2-3 people practicing out of a bedroom (which is fine with me since I'm looking for practice rather than a party out of this) or finding somebody who has lasting access to some sort of free venue already. Once every two weeks misses the aim for a real practice environment, I think. I'd like to be meeting with some people at least twice a week IRL and also practicing regularly together online. And having to pay is something I'm not gonna to start applying to my practice regimen, personally.
I may just put a folding table up in my room soon and put a picture of the space here and then wait on someone to be interested in utilizing it. Should be about that simple. It doesn't solve the issue of a bigger venue but that's okay. I think it's fine if we're making sure anyone actually wants the opportunity for IRL practice partnering enough that they're fine with a smaller space and less people, for now. Despite the handful of PMs I've gotten and the posts on this thread, nobody has really seemed interested enough to even start there. I am and would be happy to visit some other peoples places if they were offering them up for some small scale lanning as well.
As for now I'm off to play SC2 from a bedroom, like usual :p Later on TicTock is supposed to be coming over here or to another friends place and then we'll be practicing SC2 together.. from a bedroom. So just give me a PM if/when you're ready to play some SC2 with what we've got to work with for the time being
And of course, if anyone finds any kind of real venue, tell us!

Well I don't think a bed room at someones house is the best option if you want to attract people. As for practicing all the time... I don't think anyone wants to keep carrying their comp's around every day...

Holy fuck. I wish there were these kinds of things a couple years ago.
I hope everything goes well.
