TSL3 Pre-Round of 32 Interviews
Part 4 of 8

We are happy to bring you the last round of TSL Pre-Round of 32 Interviews before the TSL begins. The last players you will see this weekend are: Liquid`Jinro, mouz.MorroW, Duckload.White-Ra, and LonerPrime.WE.

Q: You experienced two TSLs as a moderator on Teamliquid. Now you are finally playing in one. Does this tournament mean anything special to you? What are your goals for the TSL3?

I was "retired" from gaming at that time, just pokering, so I never felt the kind of "watching from the sidelines" feeling I would have, had I still been a competitive player. So its not with the feeling of finally making it in that I will play this, it will just be the first TSL for me.

Q: Your opponent is fellow Swede Morrow. Are you confident you can beat him? How will you go about preparing for the TSL?

I respect MorroW, I don't know who will win. Watched a bunch of MorroWs games and practiced myself, nothing out of the ordinary.

Q: You recently were eliminated in the GSL Ro16 by Hongun. How would you describe the difference between the Korean and international competitive scenes?

I'm not sure how these two parts of the question are related! Ive only been exposed to the Korean scene firsthand so I dont really know, but everything being more centralized is definitely one big difference.

Q: You won MLG Nationals last year. Are you planning on traveling to more events outside Korea in 2011? Do you feel that SC2 will take off in Europe and America?

If they don't conflict with GOM or other Korean events. I think its pretty obvious already that its taking off.

Q: You've grown from a relatively unknown player to a top foreigner in less than a year. Describe the journey, and what you will do to stay on top.

It doesn't feel like a journey yet, I think its still happening. Maybe it will feel like one when I look back at it in a bunch of years, retired with a mansion and hoard of gold?

Q: How is the oGs-Liquid house? How happy are you there? Are you, Huk, and Haypro enjoying yourselves?

Its great, and getting better every day really. Korean SC2 is actually happening now.

Q: If you had to introduce yourself to our fans who never met you, how would you describe yourself? Write a few sentences about your personality.

Hi I'm Jinro, I can trace my ancestry right back to the natives of the Easter Island (pictorial evidence: http://imgur.com/0ijfn.jpg)

Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?

Uhm, probably preparation. Biggest Weakness is TvP in general but I'm working on it.

Q: Which matches (other than your own) are you interested in? Who do you believe will win?

Lots of good ones, Fruitdealer vs Thorzain will be interesting, Ret vs Nani, TLO vs NaDa.... so many. MC wins it all I think.

Q: Do you have anything to say to your fans and supporters before the Round of 32?

As always, thanks for watching and I hope the games will be good, win or lose =o!

Q: You qualified on points. How happy are you to qualify? Describe your thoughts when you realized you were in. Who would you like to play in the TSL3?

Yes I'm very happy to qualify for TSL 3 . I don't really think about who I would like to play, however my game vs Terran is probably my strongest so I'm sort of happy to face Jinro first round.

Q: You participated in the TSL2 as well for Brood War. Does this tournament mean anything special to you? What are your goals for the TSL3?

My goals are to get the opportunity to show my level of play and to prove myself as one of the best outside Korea. I definitely hope I go far in the tournament but usually I don't mind losing as much as other players as long as I get the chance to try my best and get real games.

Q: Your Ro32 opponent is Liquid`Jinro. Many consider him one of the best Terrans in the world. Are you confident you can beat him?

I think the odds are definitely in my favor. My Zerg is strong vs Terran and these maps are pretty good for Zerg as well. However, the latency does hurt Zerg quite a lot and I have no real clue how good Jinro exactly is in TvZ, besides from a few matches I've seen online.

Q: Many of your teammates are playing Liquid` players as well. How do you think they will do?

I don't know how well they will do to be honest. I definitely hope they will do very well but then again, Team Liquid is such a strong team so its not so easy to expect wins out of everyone in the team^^. To even predict a win vs Jinro the vast majority probably considers it to be a very bold move. Good luck and they have my best wishes ofcourse xD.

Q: You made a controversial switch from Terran to Zerg. If you played yourself, which race would win?

I don't know how good my Terran is to be honest vs Zerg now. If I had some time to get back into shape I still have probably some of best mechanics in the world (when I was massgaming and was in shape) and from watching so much GSL vods and playing vs Terran learning the builds and coming back should have been no problem really. But then again my Zerg vs Terran is very confident right now. some parts of me thinks it's imbalanced as well on these bigger macro maps too xD. Will be epic games that's for sure ^^.

Q: You recently made the finals of Assembly and have been invited to the GSL International Tournament. Are you planning on attending MLGs in the future? What are your thoughts on the international interest in Starcraft 2?

I won't go to this MLG of course (GSL WC) but in the future I hope to take part in it. Its a great feeling to be the Europe represent invite and I'm very excited to getting the opportunity to compete on a global scale ^^.

Q: Many fans are predicting the Koreans will dominate the TSL3. How do you feel about this? Do the NA/EU players stand a good chance?

Well since its online there will be alot of lag issues and extra delay and I feel the NA and EU players are more used to that than the Koreans so that will definitely help us. In terms of skill NA doesn't match up very well at all and EU we do have players that could do well in Korea I think. I think in general they will be the favorites and we will always be the underdogs but we see upsets in SC2 ESPORT on a daily basis so I wont let that mindset get in my way.

Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?

I don't have any real weaknesses to be honest. What stands me out from most players is that I close to never get nervous in events regardless of the prize money. I've become quite familiar and am used to playing in different environments and am able to adapt quite quickly (speaking of LAN). I practice more almost more than anyone I know which results in not getting tired after playing many games or losing motivation to play. This far, added up together, you could say my mentality does ignore if I won or lost the previous game, and I think that's a strength for sure.

Q: Which matches (other than your own) are you interested in? Why? Who do you believe will win?

I'm just super excited to follow MVP and Nestea to be honest. As far as the individual rounds go Naniwa vs Ret and Kas vs Haypro are my favorites. I'm too afraid to say because I know these 4 players ^^. I hope they get really good games in terms of showing who is the better player.

Q: Do you have anything to say to your fans and supporters before the Round of 32?

Thanks for supporting me . I will do my best, sorry for such a lame answer.

Q: You qualified by winning the fourth TSL qualifier. How did you feel during the process? Have you been practicing hard since then?

I want practice lots but always I have some problem with my time and not spend many time for practice .

Q: You've competed in many tournaments, including IEM, MLG, Blizzcon, Dreamhack, etc. How does the TSL compare to them? You are one of the few players who has played in both TSL1 and TSL2 as well.

TSL is one of the best online tournaments in Starcraft history and after coming Starcraft2, its wonderful see TSL again.

Q: Your first round opponent is LonerPrime.WE. Do you know anything about him? What are your thoughts about him?

Ohh I know him very strong terran, very hard matchup for me.

Q: Are you confident in your ability to beat Loner? Will you have something special planned for him?

I just practice and test all-in tactics, let's see how it will work.

Q: If you had to introduce yourself to our fans who never met you, how would you describe yourself? Write a few sentences about your personality.

Here it is not enough to completely introduce Better I write some words; fair, kind, merciful.

Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?

I have big experience and it helps me but sometimes I can't spend much time for my practice .

Q: Do you think the Koreans will dominate or do you think non-Koreans will win some upsets? Who do you think will upset some Korean players?

Koreans a little better right now because they spend more time for practice. But if you choose better build order you can win.

Q: Hello and welcome to the TSL3 tournament. Have you heard of TeamLiquid before? What made you decide to accept your invite? What are your goals for the TSL3?

Yes,TeamLiquid is a great team and the website is so useful for me. I always watch the news and the strategy on it. TSL3 got so many great players, I think I'm the worst one, but I'll use my efforts to justify my invitation. My opponent is very strong, I will do my best to treat every game carefully to get good rankings.

Q: What do you think of the international fans who watch GSL and follow Starcraft? What do you have to say to them?

I'm also fan of GSL and follow Starcraft. So in my opinion, we can have so many fun in GSL, and learn never give up with StarCraft. I want to say to them, I hope you can support every player that pay efforts in StarCraft II and believe we will bring you an exciting game.

Q: Starcraft 2 recently is growing in China. Do you think there will be a big ESPORTS scene in China for Starcraft 2?

Yes, of course. That's awesome. When Chinese domestic server was not open before, we always endured very high lag on other servers. But soon, we will get our own . I think there will be more new emerging good StarCraft II players from China.

Q: Tell us about the Prime house. How is it there? Who are the best players? Which players are less known but show great potential?

It's great. Our coach WE.EdIsOnPrime and GerrardPrime.WE always do a lot for us. They let us feel more comfortable in training. There is no need to consider anything other than training because they've arranged it for us!

Hm, there are so many good playera. Such as BBongPrime.WE, RyungPrime.WE, WE.2012.RevtimePrime, WE.2012.HotmailPrime.

Q: Who would you like to play against in this TSL?

I wish to play against oGsMC, but I must training harder and harder on TvP. My first opponent is White-Ra, I'll do my best to let my wish become true

Q: Your opponent is White-Ra, a Protoss from Ukraine who is well known for playing Starcraft Brood War as well. Do you know him? What do you think of him? Are you confident you will win?

I know him, and I admire him. But as I said, I'm going to a better prepared as much as possible and then beat him.

Q: Who do you feel are the best players in the GSL currently? Why?

AnyProPrime.WE is the best. He is training so hard to make his dream become true. And I wish he will do that because he is my teammate and my good friend!

Q: If you had to introduce yourself to our fans who never met you, how would you describe yourself? Write a few sentences about your personality.

Hm... I'm a little cute, little pure, a little capricious. I am always a very hard working player, I hope you'll like me.

Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?

As a player, my weaknesses is sometimes I don't adjust my mentality. My coaches Edison and Gerrard helped so many times. Great thanks to them. My greatest strength is I'll play much harder in games whether match or training once I adjust my mentality.

Enjoy the games this weekend! Tune in next week for interviews from the rest of our round of 32 players.

White-ra describing himself as "merciful" made me laugh. Not because I think of him as a particularly cruel person, but who describes them self as "merciful"?

I am really excited for the morrow vs. jinro match. I feel like Jinro is one of only a few terrans who could play a macro game and come out on top over morrow.

White-ra the Russian is probably the reason.
Loner's English was pretty good, actually, though I also don't know anyone who would call themselves 'capricious'.

I hope Loner does well... I always feel bad for him because TL does a "foreigner special" to every foreigner in GSL except for him
