TSL3 Pre-Round of 32 Interviews Part 4 of 8
We are happy to bring you the last round of TSL Pre-Round of 32 Interviews before the TSL begins. The last players you will see this weekend are: Liquid`Jinro, mouz.MorroW, Duckload.White-Ra, and LonerPrime.WE.
TLAF-Liquid`Jinro Terran Q: You experienced two TSLs as a moderator on Teamliquid. Now you are finally playing in one. Does this tournament mean anything special to you? What are your goals for the TSL3?I was "retired" from gaming at that time, just pokering, so I never felt the kind of "watching from the sidelines" feeling I would have, had I still been a competitive player. So its not with the feeling of finally making it in that I will play this, it will just be the first TSL for me. Q: Your opponent is fellow Swede Morrow. Are you confident you can beat him? How will you go about preparing for the TSL? I respect MorroW, I don't know who will win. Watched a bunch of MorroWs games and practiced myself, nothing out of the ordinary. Q: You recently were eliminated in the GSL Ro16 by Hongun. How would you describe the difference between the Korean and international competitive scenes?I'm not sure how these two parts of the question are related! Ive only been exposed to the Korean scene firsthand so I dont really know, but everything being more centralized is definitely one big difference. Q: You won MLG Nationals last year. Are you planning on traveling to more events outside Korea in 2011? Do you feel that SC2 will take off in Europe and America? If they don't conflict with GOM or other Korean events. I think its pretty obvious already that its taking off. Q: You've grown from a relatively unknown player to a top foreigner in less than a year. Describe the journey, and what you will do to stay on top.It doesn't feel like a journey yet, I think its still happening. Maybe it will feel like one when I look back at it in a bunch of years, retired with a mansion and hoard of gold? Q: How is the oGs-Liquid house? How happy are you there? Are you, Huk, and Haypro enjoying yourselves? Its great, and getting better every day really. Korean SC2 is actually happening now. Q: If you had to introduce yourself to our fans who never met you, how would you describe yourself? Write a few sentences about your personality.Hi I'm Jinro, I can trace my ancestry right back to the natives of the Easter Island (pictorial evidence: http://imgur.com/0ijfn.jpg)Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?Uhm, probably preparation. Biggest Weakness is TvP in general but I'm working on it. Q: Which matches (other than your own) are you interested in? Who do you believe will win?Lots of good ones, Fruitdealer vs Thorzain will be interesting, Ret vs Nani, TLO vs NaDa.... so many. MC wins it all I think. Q: Do you have anything to say to your fans and supporters before the Round of 32?As always, thanks for watching and I hope the games will be good, win or lose =o!
mouz.MorroW Zerg Q: You qualified on points. How happy are you to qualify? Describe your thoughts when you realized you were in. Who would you like to play in the TSL3?Yes I'm very happy to qualify for TSL 3 . I don't really think about who I would like to play, however my game vs Terran is probably my strongest so I'm sort of happy to face Jinro first round. Q: You participated in the TSL2 as well for Brood War. Does this tournament mean anything special to you? What are your goals for the TSL3?My goals are to get the opportunity to show my level of play and to prove myself as one of the best outside Korea. I definitely hope I go far in the tournament but usually I don't mind losing as much as other players as long as I get the chance to try my best and get real games. Q: Your Ro32 opponent is Liquid`Jinro. Many consider him one of the best Terrans in the world. Are you confident you can beat him?I think the odds are definitely in my favor. My Zerg is strong vs Terran and these maps are pretty good for Zerg as well. However, the latency does hurt Zerg quite a lot and I have no real clue how good Jinro exactly is in TvZ, besides from a few matches I've seen online. Q: Many of your teammates are playing Liquid` players as well. How do you think they will do?I don't know how well they will do to be honest. I definitely hope they will do very well but then again, Team Liquid is such a strong team so its not so easy to expect wins out of everyone in the team^^. To even predict a win vs Jinro the vast majority probably considers it to be a very bold move. Good luck and they have my best wishes ofcourse xD. Q: You made a controversial switch from Terran to Zerg. If you played yourself, which race would win?I don't know how good my Terran is to be honest vs Zerg now. If I had some time to get back into shape I still have probably some of best mechanics in the world (when I was massgaming and was in shape) and from watching so much GSL vods and playing vs Terran learning the builds and coming back should have been no problem really. But then again my Zerg vs Terran is very confident right now. some parts of me thinks it's imbalanced as well on these bigger macro maps too xD. Will be epic games that's for sure ^^. Q: You recently made the finals of Assembly and have been invited to the GSL International Tournament. Are you planning on attending MLGs in the future? What are your thoughts on the international interest in Starcraft 2?I won't go to this MLG of course (GSL WC) but in the future I hope to take part in it. Its a great feeling to be the Europe represent invite and I'm very excited to getting the opportunity to compete on a global scale ^^. Q: Many fans are predicting the Koreans will dominate the TSL3. How do you feel about this? Do the NA/EU players stand a good chance?Well since its online there will be alot of lag issues and extra delay and I feel the NA and EU players are more used to that than the Koreans so that will definitely help us. In terms of skill NA doesn't match up very well at all and EU we do have players that could do well in Korea I think. I think in general they will be the favorites and we will always be the underdogs but we see upsets in SC2 ESPORT on a daily basis so I wont let that mindset get in my way. Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?I don't have any real weaknesses to be honest. What stands me out from most players is that I close to never get nervous in events regardless of the prize money. I've become quite familiar and am used to playing in different environments and am able to adapt quite quickly (speaking of LAN). I practice more almost more than anyone I know which results in not getting tired after playing many games or losing motivation to play. This far, added up together, you could say my mentality does ignore if I won or lost the previous game, and I think that's a strength for sure. Q: Which matches (other than your own) are you interested in? Why? Who do you believe will win?I'm just super excited to follow MVP and Nestea to be honest. As far as the individual rounds go Naniwa vs Ret and Kas vs Haypro are my favorites. I'm too afraid to say because I know these 4 players ^^. I hope they get really good games in terms of showing who is the better player. Q: Do you have anything to say to your fans and supporters before the Round of 32?Thanks for supporting me . I will do my best, sorry for such a lame answer.
Duckload.White-Ra Protoss Q: You qualified by winning the fourth TSL qualifier. How did you feel during the process? Have you been practicing hard since then?I want practice lots but always I have some problem with my time and not spend many time for practice . Q: You've competed in many tournaments, including IEM, MLG, Blizzcon, Dreamhack, etc. How does the TSL compare to them? You are one of the few players who has played in both TSL1 and TSL2 as well.TSL is one of the best online tournaments in Starcraft history and after coming Starcraft2, its wonderful see TSL again. Q: Your first round opponent is LonerPrime.WE. Do you know anything about him? What are your thoughts about him?Ohh I know him very strong terran, very hard matchup for me. Q: Are you confident in your ability to beat Loner? Will you have something special planned for him?I just practice and test all-in tactics, let's see how it will work. Q: If you had to introduce yourself to our fans who never met you, how would you describe yourself? Write a few sentences about your personality. Here it is not enough to completely introduce Better I write some words; fair, kind, merciful. Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player?I have big experience and it helps me but sometimes I can't spend much time for my practice . Q: Do you think the Koreans will dominate or do you think non-Koreans will win some upsets? Who do you think will upset some Korean players?Koreans a little better right now because they spend more time for practice. But if you choose better build order you can win.
LonerPrime.WE Terran Q: Hello and welcome to the TSL3 tournament. Have you heard of TeamLiquid before? What made you decide to accept your invite? What are your goals for the TSL3?Yes,TeamLiquid is a great team and the website is so useful for me. I always watch the news and the strategy on it. TSL3 got so many great players, I think I'm the worst one, but I'll use my efforts to justify my invitation. My opponent is very strong, I will do my best to treat every game carefully to get good rankings. Q: What do you think of the international fans who watch GSL and follow Starcraft? What do you have to say to them?I'm also fan of GSL and follow Starcraft. So in my opinion, we can have so many fun in GSL, and learn never give up with StarCraft. I want to say to them, I hope you can support every player that pay efforts in StarCraft II and believe we will bring you an exciting game. Q: Starcraft 2 recently is growing in China. Do you think there will be a big ESPORTS scene in China for Starcraft 2?Yes, of course. That's awesome. When Chinese domestic server was not open before, we always endured very high lag on other servers. But soon, we will get our own . I think there will be more new emerging good StarCraft II players from China. Q: Tell us about the Prime house. How is it there? Who are the best players? Which players are less known but show great potential? It's great. Our coach WE.EdIsOnPrime and GerrardPrime.WE always do a lot for us. They let us feel more comfortable in training. There is no need to consider anything other than training because they've arranged it for us! Hm, there are so many good playera. Such as BBongPrime.WE, RyungPrime.WE, WE.2012.RevtimePrime, WE.2012.HotmailPrime. Q: Who would you like to play against in this TSL?I wish to play against oGsMC, but I must training harder and harder on TvP. My first opponent is White-Ra, I'll do my best to let my wish become true Q: Your opponent is White-Ra, a Protoss from Ukraine who is well known for playing Starcraft Brood War as well. Do you know him? What do you think of him? Are you confident you will win?I know him, and I admire him. But as I said, I'm going to a better prepared as much as possible and then beat him. Q: Who do you feel are the best players in the GSL currently? Why?AnyProPrime.WE is the best. He is training so hard to make his dream become true. And I wish he will do that because he is my teammate and my good friend! Q: If you had to introduce yourself to our fans who never met you, how would you describe yourself? Write a few sentences about your personality.Hm... I'm a little cute, little pure, a little capricious. I am always a very hard working player, I hope you'll like me. Q: What do you think are your greatest strengths and weaknesses as a player? As a player, my weaknesses is sometimes I don't adjust my mentality. My coaches Edison and Gerrard helped so many times. Great thanks to them. My greatest strength is I'll play much harder in games whether match or training once I adjust my mentality.
Enjoy the games this weekend! Tune in next week for interviews from the rest of our round of 32 players.

nice, too bad 2 swedes face off at the start :/

LOL white-ra the merciful
White-ra describing himself as "merciful" made me laugh. Not because I think of him as a particularly cruel person, but who describes them self as "merciful"?
I am really excited for the morrow vs. jinro match. I feel like Jinro is one of only a few terrans who could play a macro game and come out on top over morrow.
haha epic Easter Island ancestry :D

Not because I think of him as a particularly cruel person, but who describes them self as "merciful"? White-ra the Russian is probably the reason. Loner's English was pretty good, actually, though I also don't know anyone who would call themselves 'capricious'.

Jinro hwaiting!

Only a mighty baller like WhiteRa can be merciful!
HotmailPrime? Seriously? That ID is hilarious!
Yet another prime house member praising anypro - though I guess he had pretty good results this season.
GL Jinro!!
Come on WhiteRa! I would love to see an unheard of MC upset if he got passed Loner. No one would ever stop talking about that!
Let me dream!!!
Q: Are you confident in your ability to beat Loner? Will you have something special planned for him?
I just practice and test all-in tactics, let's see how it will work.
White-ra be trollin'
White Ra is always so mannered Fighting!
Hope morrow wins because of his awesome interview.
Jinro is so humble and personable =) One day I want to see him saying he's going to rip the heads off of his opponent and eat them for breakfast. Some uber confidence couldn't hurt!
I hope Loner does well... I always feel bad for him because TL does a "foreigner special" to every foreigner in GSL except for him
Morrows interview was great and I love his play-style, so I will be rooting for him
White-Ra a baller as usual, Loner and Jinro showed us that they're the same nice dudes we've come to know and love, and MorroW still coming off as kind of a dick. All is well.
Nice interview with Loner, i'm really expecting a rising great chinese SC2 scene as strong if not stronger than china has been in wc3 . Anywho, Jinro fighting!

"In terms of skill NA doesnt match up very well at all and EU we do have players that could do well in Korea I think."
Harsh statements from morrow :0

I think it's a US patriotism thing. But don't judge, they spend years of their lives swearing allegiance to a flag every morning at school. Indoctrination pretty much.

Hahaha, Jinro the easter island man.
And merciful White-Ra.
Good stuff.
Jinro has the best interview yet with that easter island pic

Awesome interviews, this is what makes the TSL so amazing.

Wait what? You're saying that US patriotism is why people think MorroW is cocky? Bit of a stretch, dude.
Too bad that Jinro and MorroW have to meet each other in the first round. Two of my favorite players, but atleast those games will be epic for sure.
Jinro fighting. That man always have something funny to say. Nice self distance as well. Hope for really long macro games vs Morrow!
MorroW vs Jinro is going to be such an epic match and MorroW has a sick ZvT and is more unpredictable than IdrA so he has an advantage from that which IdrA does not. I love watching his zerg and his creep spread is always superb and I wish him the best of luck!
I miss Tarson. His interviews are the best: "I did not practice. I just watch GSL and use builds. Very strong builds." Haha.

Best four interviews by far. Morrow showing what he learnt while being enemies with idra, White-Ra with the awesome engrish and baller-type interview, Loner showing humbleness and Chinro making us all ROFL. Also four of my most favourite players, I'm kinda sad that 2 of them won't make it into round 2 ...
Morrow is such a baller at giving interviews. Rooting for him!
I just practice and test all-in tactics, let's see how it will work.
He's doing mind game tricks .. lolololololol
White-ra's interviews always give me a huge grin.
morrow always give such good answers in interviews, some people just put no effort in at all... go morrow!
Hahaha
<3 White-Ra, tactical already in the interview
Also, the Loner interview was nice, what a humble guy! He clearly dosn't give himself enough credit!
Jinro - LOL - Nice1 due, wp

After those shy live interviews I'm surprised to see how well-spoken Loner actually is, i guess he was really nervous.
Arggg, I love White-Ra's play and admire him as a person, but I'm also Chinese.....Hard to decide who to root for ><
PS: Loner calling himself cute is kind of cute lol
Looks like for White-Ra it was so boring to answer all this questions)))) Ra dont be merciful on battlefield))) Ukraine for the win
lol morrow's acting as if he doesn't know about Jinro. "yea I may have seen a game or 2 of his, idk, I'll be favored to win". Doubt it son!
GoGo whitera!

Sen doesn't get them either. Does TeamLiquid not do foreigner specials for asians or something? Everyone non-korean is a foreigner, not just white guys.
Anyway, I'm liking these interviews. I feel bad for Loner thinking he's the worst out of the 32 - I don't know if I want him to prove us wrong or not because I'd like White-Ra to progress to the Ro16.
Well, if he's to lose, I hope he proves he deserved his invite. ^^
Oh LORD I love White-Ra. 'merciful' we know you're not White-Ra, at least not in starcraft
I think if both players play well Morrow vs Jinro will be an absolutely incredible set of games. Like Thorzain vs FD today except + Show Spoiler +this time Zerg win please
GO MORROW!
Haha funny interview this time xD. LOL that Jinro picture made me lol pretty hard hah. Also does Loner really think hes worst in this tournament? Wth he really isnt. Like somebody already said White-Ra so mannered again . His english is so White-Ra too haha. I can imagine him speaking like that and i like it lol! Hopefully everyone of them will do great in TSL
Another awesome interview from MorroW. Hope he goes far!
+1 for Loner reading this site. Just another reason to like the guy. Even though white-ra will most certainly beat him I hope Loner improves and finds more success in the future.
I demand a loser's bracket so white-ra and loner can both remain in the tournament. they both seem so nice
Oh man, Loner's interview was so awesome. Such a humble dude. Now I feel a little bad for picking White-Ra :/

Hey I see alot of ))))) when people from eastern Europe / Russia are chatting. Does it mean anything? O.o
WhiteRa's interview is so cute ^^ I reckon merciful is a strange translation from Russian, and Ra just went with it :p
Can't wait to watch jinro vs morrow. I think Jinro will win 2-0 imo and do want Jinro too win only terran I'll root for against zerg :D
will we finally see inro in gstl? i think its stupid he cant play for ogs, as he has been one of the top 10 players in the world for like 4 months, and arguably the best terran, yet he cant play in the teamleague.
Hahaha, oh White-ra's interview is so good!
Can't wait for the games tomorrow!! :D
I'm cheering for Liquid' Chinro in this tourney.
Whitera's accent just oozes through his interview i love it!
Is loner still in the gsl i forgot if he got knocked out of code a this season. Also i wonder how loner communicates with his teammates and coaches , through english? or does he speak korean? or do some of them speak mandorin?
White-ra's english is broken, and it's hilarious and awesome. If he loses first round I will be very sad. Go White-ra!

Chinese don't count as foreigners.
Artosis and Idra established this back in '09.

So we have some of the humblest interviews along with one of the most arrogant. I don't care who you are, saying that the odds are "definitely in your favor" when you're about to face someone like Jinro of all people is pretty freaking ridiculous. I'm sure IdrA's face when he reads that bit will be priceless.
Best parts? Jinro's ancestry and WhiteRa's all-ins, lol.
Yay Loner! Repping China.
sounds like this will be some exciting games! can't wait
I was also among those who LOLed at white-ra describing himself as merciful. LOL
White Ra had hands down the best responses! Really hope he will make it far!

White-Ra is so straight forward and cool, you can only love him. Morrow once again shows that he has balls and already plays some nice little mindgame with that interview too showing a lot of confidence. Most interesting to me was Loner's interview however, its cool to hear that he reads TL.net a lot actually and he seems like a very very nice humble guy, he just won me over with that interview kinda. Then again I can't root against Aleks either especially because he's Protoss, but really, almost all of those TSL matches kinda make me feel like that. You can't really say about any match that "ugh if person x advances I'll be super disappointed" - atleast I cannot, and that does say a lot about a tourney IMO. I mean, come on, Jinro or MorroW, Ra or Loner, it doesn't matter who advances it will be a great player.
Awesome interviews as always. Can't wait for Jinro vs Morrow. Epic games indeed. Loner vs White-Ra also looks good. I want both to go to Ro16 Also, lollerskate at Jinro's ancestry :D

English. Koreans usually can read (not speak) a little Chinese, but probably is not enough for clear communication.
Loner is a little cute. Thats pretty cool that he knows about White Ra as well! Great interviews, can't wait to watch these guys battle it out.
White-Ra FIGHTING, my favorite for the tourney, destroy this Loner noob!!!!!
White-Ra's interview was so good, it felt like you were interviewing a cyborg with the biggest heart in the world.
White-Ra the Merciful! New nickname? :D
Lets go Jinro and White-Ra! I dont care much for MorroW even tho I'm swedish, he seems overconfident at times, not saying he cant win but to say he is the favorite is abit of a stretch.. When did u go to round of 4 in the GSL Morrow? Ohh wait..
Ahaha White-Ra ♥, I love you Mr. Merciful. All the interviews were great in their own way. Well, maybe not MorroW's - a little too arrogant :p
I feel bad for rooting for White-Ra after reading Loner's interview.
Couldn't help but read the White-Ra interview in his voice/accent lol.

That was a really great set of interviews, I think I liked all of their responses one way or another. Going to make it hard to know who to cheer for tonight T_T

No doubt in my mind that Jinro vs. Morrow will be the highlight of the day. Both are extremely solid and I have no idea who to root for! >.<'

Pretty much this.
I will never forget how Loner was nearly dying in that GSL booth but still played. Sorry that White-Ra has to win this!

Man, I can't wait to see Jinro vs. MorroW!
Even if it's just going to be half as good as Thorzain vs. FruitDealer, it's going to be godlike! :D

Ah Loner reads the strategy section...now I know why he lost in Code A. :D

I always feel bad for him because TL does a "foreigner special" to every foreigner in GSL except for him Yeah. Loner should get a special ^^ Sen doesn't get them either. ^^ Chinese don't count as foreigners. Artosis and Idra established this back in '09.
I don't understand why call them foreigners then ... why not say "white man specials"? @_@
Also Jinro will clean Morrow easy.

Mr. Loner, busting out the SAT words. Had to look up capricious haha.

I think Chinese should count as foreigners as far as SC 2 is concerned. As MasterAsia pointed out in his interview for the CSL (for those who don't know, MasterAsia was apparently a Chinese BW pro-gamer before he moved to the West):
"MasterAsia: It was a long time ago. 7 years to be exact. In China it’s not like how it is in Korea. There’s no glamour. Players aren’t well-paid at all. There is no professional training or coaches for us. All players are responsible for training themselves."
The Chinese scene appears more similar to the EU/US, if not worse, than to Korea.
