Hello everyone, I am stoked to be playing my first game of TL mafia. I wanted to write a quick word to introduce myself before forcing myself to bed at a reasonable hour for once.

DarthThienAn had a post on the previous page suggesting a few things new players like myself might want to tell others about so I'll go through those quickly:
favorite ice cream flavor - cinnamon (vanilla with plenty of cinnamon mixed in will do)
favorite sc unit - high templar (storm ftw, hallucination ftlolz and archon if I'm not playing a terran)
favorite snsd member - no preference (but seducing a korean girl is on my bucketlist)

Other than that I've played mafia a couple times before so I've been looking forward to experiencing TL's take on this game all day, I'm hoping I can make it along in this game at least long enough to help me deal with the looming couple of weeks of SC2 withdrawal.

A question to people with more experience with the whole election dynamic: is it common for mafia to run for office?
If so, I'd really like to see more candidates as even if we don't elect a mafia mayor it'd be easy for us to get a scum pardoner and that almost seems worse.

At this point it seems like a long shot for anyone other than Yink or Darth to get elected and based on their posts so far, I don't really have a preference for who ends up winning the election.

As for who I think they mayor should lynch on day1, I support the previously stated plan to lynch inactives. My reason for supporting this scheme is that it allows us to minimize the chance of accidentally killing a blue. A player who with a blue role would likely get excited about the game and want to participate. I believe that this tactic will minimize the amount of damage that the town will deal to itself when it likely ends up that we've lynched a green.

Also, it's my impression that the 'day' ends at 11:00 KST and I plan on voting closer to then. If I'm wrong someone let me know cause I'd hate to 'waste' my warning this early on in the game.

I've noticed that a quite a few players (including me) have been called out for not posting too much on day1 and in our defence, I'd just like to point out that there's only so much that can be said at the start of the game. I'll be posting more as the game develops and there's actually things to talk about.

Yink, no offense but half your posts up to now can be summed up as VOTE FOR YINK.
That being said, you've also posted plenty of information that others have found useful and I'm not trying to take away from that. I'm just not really interested in the early stages of a game as much what comes later and I'm trying to play in a way that will help me get to lategame so I can help make sure town wins. Why should I paint a target on my back for mafia by being a hyper active townie so early on? Especially when I don't feel like the insight I could offer at this point in the game would be as authoritative as others who've played this game before?

The ElyAs hit seems suspicious to me. It has already been brought up that a scum outrunning ElyAs and not killing him as they passed seems unrealistic. How could he have enough time to sit down on the courthouse steps and wait for ElyAs to come around at full speed? One possible explanation that has been offered has been that the scum in question could 'blink'. Here's another:
It could be possible that two scum were involved in the death of ElyAs. One to follow him and chase him to the courthouse and another waiting in ambush there to kill him. At night, it's not hard for two masked men to look the same. Additionally, we actually have two players that 'look the same' playing in this game as MooCow and Tyranos_Nivek have identical profiles. The implications of such a double hit would be that MTF is lying about being targeted on night1.
I am not convinced that the theory above is what actually took place but it seems to be a possibility.

And here I was thinking that the clues early on in the game are supposed to be vague and thus lead to 'convoluted' theories... that said, I am by no means convinced that the post I made above states the truth. It was simply another possible scenario that had not been talked about lately.
