You can't outplay your opponent and lose. I really wish people would stop saying things like that. If he outplayed him, he would have won. It's really that simple.

he outplayed him during 15/17minutes...

Really? I just saw someone not expand, not tech, and not take advantage of things he could have. What game were you watching?

so how is it outplaying, if you do a bunch of "good moves", that have nothing to do with the particular game you are playing?
"Yeah, I outsmarted you. You thought I was bluffing, but I have 3kings!"
"You know we are playing Black Jack and not Texas Hold em?"

What are you talking about? He came out ahead of every engagement. If there was an efficient way to deny the planetary at the fourth he wins that game pretty handily (which is probably the purpose of that build). He made it close despite Taeja getting it up.

Taeja won, but that game was beyond frustrating. He basically got an upgrade advantage and a planetary up, continued to do nothing special and then Hyun died (no disrespect to Taeja, he's fantastic, he just could have played better).

you're really bad at this game no ?
Positionning, engaging fights properly is the most important thing by far at this lvl, and Hyun did it way better than Taeja in game 2. Then he's clueless because I don't think he has many games where the T holds his 50+bling/ling push.

you're really frustrated, because none of your BW gods does superwell, aren't you?

I'm still disappointed about the last series. I think Hyun would have won decisively if he followed two rules:

1) Never build Ultras, especially if you are behind, ahead, or even.
2) If you have 1000+ spare gas and no infestation pit, build an infestation pit.

Hyun certainly didn't engage better than Taeja in game 2. His positioning was excellent though (especially the defensive coverage that allowed him to hold his fourth on a map where it's notoriously hard to do so)

he played a strong midgame composition and couldn't transition out of it. Teaja did the exactly right thing against it: sit the midgame out.

Hyun's problem was that he did nothing at all after delaying that 4th. He didn't get anywhere close to 3/3 or hive, which is just not gonna work 30 minutes into a game, ever.

Any weaker Terran, and HyuN would've rolled over them with that style. Perhaps that's why he believes it works so well and doesn't try to 'fix' it.

yeah hyun was just unlucky to face one of the few! terrans who go marine/tank against zerg. NoWay for him to see that coming.

What an awful fucking post. The style he was playing was a 'power build', much like Bomber's TvZ - you get a fast third and then play defensively, with fast-ish upgrades, until ~170 supply. You then push while trying to secure your fourth, reinforcing with as many disposable marines as possible and minimal tank/medivac, trying to conserve them instead.

It worked because Taeja played the map correctly and it's really hard for zerg to deny the planetary in the middle there.

Fuck you and your awful posts.

so much hate... i never went into strategical depth or something similar. i just said that staying on zergling/baneling + some mutas doesnt cut it without a transition out of it. its still no late game comp, doesnt matter how hard you try to push the baneling numbers and use flanks! and saying that he wouldve rolled almost every other terran with that style is just wrong.

why the insults?

Because you didn't do any of those things. If you were actually witty it'd be okay, but you posted an awful 1.5 liner in response to a legitimate post. I felt like I was reading "LOL YOUR WRONG" and it hurt my brain.

That, and you have like no real posts.

This shows how important game knowledge is. Think what a experienced sc2 zerg could do with 4k gas? lol

What the fuck does that mean? Hyun's been playing Starcraft long enough to know that banking 4k gas is terrible, and he knows that infestors, brood lords, Ultras exist. There's no excuse for mistakes like that.

I'm sorry, but that is obviously lack of experience. He came in with a plan without real knowledge on how to transition after it did damage. He has played barely 2 months. I expected play like this honestly. Strong mechanics but no idea what to do if he strays a little bit away from his game plan.

Are you kidding me? He was a pro gamer before he started SC2, I think he would understand strategy games enough to know that he should plan to transition after damage. Or maybe the coach he lives with would help him? Odds are he's ground out more games in these 2 months than most people have played on this site in 2 years.

Could it just be possible that Taeja was the far better player tonight?

Taeja was the far better player..that has nothing to do with anything. I was addressing why Hyun played the way he did. He clearly planned a big push and planned to win with it and didn't know how to transition out of it. Taeja is clearly a code S level terran with vastly superior game knowledge...thats why he won. But Hyun showed powerful mechanics and macro, just horrible game knowledge.
