You didn't use your vessels well against TT1's arbiters. Also mines at the front of those tank lines are very important. Also, my APM in SC2 was like 180 on average (former masters), now i cant even get passed 130 anymore, i took a year off of SC2, so that doesn't help, but something is off my APM, i just cant play as fast as i used to. Maybe just not used to the game yet. Yeah, lets go with that lol


Since we are at it (giving criticue and you seem to handle it well), I say your scv macro wasn't very consistent. As terran (almost) always go for the 24 scv per mining base.

So the client keeps telling me that it's not connected. I tried disabling anti-virus software + firewall and redownloading the client multiple times, nothing helped. I'm using Windows 7 x64 btw.

Oh nevermind then, it just kept crashing at the start for me when I tried yesterday so since I got further today but still failed I figured I might as well ask. Thanks anyway!

Argh, I've been having this issue with other things, can't install the Visul C++ thing, as it says my Windows Installer isn't registered or something like that, had the same issue with installing Silverlight.

Once I get some cash for a new Windows install should be able to fix it I think though

The Ghost patch

This patch is a bit special. It contains only balance adjustments for the Ghost, plus a new spell I designed for it.
As I have mentioned before, the Ghost was not completed in design when Starbow became known to the public, ca a month ago. So this is my attempt to complete the unit.

Bug fixes:

- Yes, a bunch of things. (I am bad at keeping track at the bugs I fix T_T)

xiA fixed the following bugs:
• Firebats should now properly deal melee damage to medium and light units
• Medic Stimpack ability should now display the proper sound and graphics when used
• Hydralisks ranged attack should now properly display an attack impact model on light and medium units

Balance changes for Ghost:

- Cost increased from 50/100 to 50/150.
- Attack range lowered from 8 to 6. (They can no longer outrange static defence...)
- Cloak research time increased from 110 to 170 seconds. (Ghosts can now cloak around the 7-8 minute mark)
- Shock is modified.
- New spell added.

The same concept remains - launch a projectile towards an area that slows and disables units.

Stats that remain the same as before:
- Energy 50
- Casting range 9
- Affected units movement speed is reduced to 75%, but will regain a portion of their movement speed every 2 seconds until the effect ends after 6 seconds.
- Affected units can not attack or use spells/abilities.
- Siege Tanks and Warp Prisms are undeployed.
- All cloaked and burrowed units are revealed inside the area.


New modifications:
- Only mechanical units are slowed and disabled. (Non-mechanical units are still revealed though)
- Projectile moves slightly faster and the impact radius is a little bit larger. (Easier to hit fast moving units like Warp Prism, Banshee, Sentinel etc.)

A rumor circulates that Shock unburrows Lurkers and forces Dropships to unload their cargo. This has never been in the game, and was merely an idea that never got included.


Seeker Drone

- 75 energy
- Casting range 9
- Launch a Seeker Drone towards target unit. Upon impact, the Drone explodes and deals 80 damage to the target and 20 splash damage.
- The Drone only lasts 6 seconds and will explode when the timer ends, dealing splash damage at the location.
- The Drone has slow accelaration, which means it takes a couple of seconds to reach a target.

What does this mean for gameplay?

Seeker Drones are more likely to hit if the Ghost is closer to its target, or if the enemy player is not paying attention, or if the target is a slow-moving or immobile unit. Which basically means that Seeker Drones are stronger to use pre-combat, perhaps in combination with Cloak. Hopefully will this encourage Ghosts to be more present out on the map to pick off key-units or harass the enemy army.

I sat the damage at 80, so Ghosts can one-shot High Templars and Defilers. The enemy can however remicro towards the projectile, for example by using Rift, burrow-move a unit, load into a transport, run away, seperate units out of a clump, or simply cast their spells before the projectile hits, etc. Which makes it important for Ghosts to pick off casters before they get too close to the Terran army, rather than using the spell once combat already started.

Fast moving units like Mutas, Speed Prism etc are a bit harder to catch with the Seeker Drone. If the enemy player reacts quickly after the projectile is launched, it is possible to outrun it. I want to prevent the spell from being a 100% certain kill. Rather shall the micro of both players help to determine the outcome. Maybe can it make Zealots, Zerglings and Banelings who charge into Bio armies think twice - since Seeker Drones are better vs close clumped up targets.

Possible concerns to keep an eye on:
+ Show Spoiler +
- Projectile speed, duration, damage and splash will surely need to be adjusted in the future, after we have seen how this turns out in real games.

- Perhaps will the missile become too spammable. (Which is a concern for other spells in Sbow.) Go mass Ghosts and launch this at everything. Maybe will it need a cooldown, a higher energy cost, only 1 missile allowed to be launched at a target at the same time, can only be used on biological units, or some other approach.

- Shock in combination with Seeker Drone might be an issue, since the first spell slows the target, which benefits the second spell. Although that only works on mechanical units and has a high combined energy cost to use. Protoss can at least use Rift to save Reavers, Stalkers and Dragoons. Possible solutions might be to make the Seeker Missile targetable - the enemy player can focus fire it down, or units who are Shocked can not be targeted or takes less damage from Seeker Drone.. or other more simple solutions.

Hopefully will this new version of Ghost make it more versatile and useful in all match-ups, both for army-support, harass and for map presence. I wanted to merge gameplay aspects of the Ghost from both BW and SC2:

- Shock is now more like a variant of Lockdown, but with more versatile use and room for micro from both players. It allows the small relatively cheap unit to catch and disable larger, more expensive units. (Hopefully without feeling as annoying as BW Lockdown.) Perhaps can this be a fun dynamic for Bio vs Reavers and Warp Prism.

- Seeker Drone intends to follow the EMP & Snipe dance-theme from SC2 to pick off key units and casters. Perhaps will we see more pre-combat usage for the Ghost, while still keeping those interactions micro rewarding for both players.

But as always, if things do not turn out as intended, or has consequenses for the gameplay, maybe another route must be taken in the future.

I intended to get Protoss air up in this patch. It got delayed. What will be done:

- Push Scouts into the game so they become more useful within their role.

- Probably add one ability to Corsairs. Disruption web will most likely be added, but there are some issues with that. Basically the Sentinel and Nerve Jammer already have versions of Disruption web. (I butchered that ability into two new ones.) If Disruption web is added, Vessel and Sentinel might need a second look too.

Anyway, I aim to get the next patch up on sunday or monday. (And it will be the last patch before the tournament 1 March and before Clanwar on 27 February). In it, I will try to focus on:

- Bio & Baneling
- Macro mechanics balance (especially early game.. maybe small redesign on some of the mechanics)

Go through those areas of the game, together with the others in the Starbow team, to see what can be done.. and how much time we have to discuss and work on it.

I've been trying to find and watch streams of people playing and the game so far seems more fun than HotS.
I am waiting for this ladder program to get rid of the problems and bugs and I will be joining this community. In the meantime I hope more sc2 streamers start playing it.
