on a related note for a good while now i have been giving boblion the benefit of the doubt, thinking that he was responding idiotically to sam!zdat's posting as tl-satire. believing it was did not make it so.

1. The ghost change probably wouldn't change anything when using ghosts the way people currently do in TvP, but it might open up ghost rushing which could do a lot.
2. Photon overcharge might be too soft of a nerf, but that's why we try changes instead of putting them straight into the game...
3. The hydra buff does sound too strong, admittedly because muta switches from hydra ling are already very good, but again, we try it, and if the test map shows its too strong, it can be removed, no worries. I'm a Zerg and I'd love for it to work out because I suspect it could do wonders in ZvT and ZvZ.
4. The time warp nerf seems pretty solid. It means that a MSC at 150 energy now needs another 50 before it can double time warp as opposed to already having enough for 2 time warps. It also means that a full energy MSC can still double time warp, but will now be a whopping 100 energy away from doing ANYTHING as opposed to before where 25 energy later it could lay down a 3rd TW or have a recall/PO in only 50 energy. That certainly sounds like it has the potential to be a game changer at least.
5. The possible tempest buff is almost impossible to comment on, the late game mass swarm host turtle style isn't the most popular so I haven't actually seen it in a while, they haven't released the numbers they actually want to try so there is no way to know how many tempests would be necessary to negate a Zerg turtle style, and if the hydra buff went through the whole opening phase of ZvP might shift entirely and a huge tempest buff might be a now necessary late game edge for Toss.
Overall I like the suggested changes for testing, and after we see what that testing produces I'll be able to give an opinion on whether or not I'd like them to go through. Anyone who's approaching it from a perspective of "I already know what this will do" is almost certainly wrong. Seriously just from a historical perspective alone most of the knee jerk reaction to patches is actually flat out incorrect most of the time.
Sorry but the yelling and offenses are ALL JUSTIFIED. Even considering such changes is offensive to the community. Frankly, we have starbow now and I hope everyone will switch to it because if HotS isn't bad already (I kind of "like" it but I think it's worse than sbow) it soon will be if those are their retarded plans.
Oh and those total morons working on sc2's balance and design are able to do so because there is no one making comparable RTS. But it has been shown that some people with good ideas can just make a better game design wise (and I don't know why they aren't put in charge of sc2 over the idiots).

sam!zdat did what most people of his particular philosophical persuasion do on these forums: condescend to other people and make a show of their self perceived intelligence and knowledge. He just did it openly and honestly, brashly, and we must punish him for his honesty. Those who clad their condescension in paragraphs or sufficient wit still live to see the light of day.
RIP sammy. Your urge to be humanity's messiah was a doomed quest from the start. It twisted you from a quirky yet interesting over-read fellow into an asshole who constantly spout cryptic nonsense. If you are honest with yourself, you will realize it was never your intention to be understood; it was your intention to be a unique snowflake, to look down on the masses from your mountaintop with the knowledge that you held a salvation they didn't even know they needed.
Put down the books, close the browsers, shut the mind, and smell the roses. wu wei, amor fati, yada yada etc. etc. and so it goes...

I really wonder if that account is a smurf of someone else though.
kadaver just banned someone for doing nothing but complain in the balance thread about how bad david kim was. he actually got away with it then decided to quote his own post and guess that it means he can flame all he wants since no one reported it. I suck at copying these things when there's links in em. sry
SpeedyBozar was just temp banned for 1 week by KadaverBB.

On January 24 2014 13:38 SpeedyBozar wrote: Alright, I was warned for critisizing David Kim without any arguments. I will tell you about the arguments.
Protoss and mech terran can camp for 20 mins on three bases, then take 4th and never ever attack. They tech up to unbeatable deathballs of ravens + vikings + tanks (+battlecruisers) / void rays, high templars, tempests, carriers (+colossi) and it is incredibly hard for zerg to stop. Same way zerg is extremely strong in the mid game because his economy and gigantic unit production speed kicks in so fast so terrans need bunkers + tanks and protosses need cannons + forcefields to hold these powerful mid game pushes. Main ramp has to be 2 hex wide, natural ramps have to be 7-11 hexes wide and third bases have to be very open so the zerg has any chance to stop mech terrans and protosses from getting their deathballs.
The game is extremely imbalanced in general and that causes huge limitations. Maps have these ridiculously strict conditions. Race balance is so extremely fragile that even a little change can cause huge problems in some matchups. And then what David Kim does is to suggest these ridiculous changes that don't solve any problems. Basically if David Kim was a gardener and he had a sick tree, he would just paint its leaves to green to make it look like the tree is absolutely fine.
Is it enough for me to say David Kim is a bad game designer or do I need more?
Since nobody complained I will take it as a permission to flame David Kim as much as I want on this site.
Sweet! Love you guys. <3

Roach burrow movement. Sure, why not. It will affect only ZvP obviously because you will be able to run below forcefields faster.
Buff mech... Buff mech? Buff mech??!!!!! BUFF MECH?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE U KIDDING ME?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Playing vs. these absolutely atrocious unskilled slow pricks with 100 apm camping for fucking 50 minutes with their ravens without doing shit is the most frustrating thing I have experienced in my gaming career. It makes me wanna vommit before I kill myself. It makes me wanna stop playing this game. It's the most unfair shit ever where total retard like goody can beat godly superskilled beasts... And... What does David Kimchi say? Let's buff it! Holy shit he is a retard.

then this is one random future of SC2 thread that was shut down immediately
On January 24 2014 15:41 Omnishroud wrote: People who assume one person is responsible for an entire games problems are pretty dim.
I'd say that applies in this case, especially considering he had this brilliant idea(and opened a thread for it)
September 25 2013 22:08 I was thinking about randomness of the current WCS tournament format. One extremely positive thing is that anybody can sign up for challenger league qualification which is really good. But still I don't see the best players in premier league and not even in challeneger league.
I was just thinking about the most fair league format and in my opinion it could look like this:
32 players in premier league. First stage would be everybody playing BO3 against everybody. First 16 players advance in playoff, second 16 players fall down to challenger league. Places 9-16 play BO5 or BO3, winners advance in the next round vs 5-8th place finishers. These 4 winners of these matches advance in QF, then SF and Grand finals in the end.
32 players challanger league playing BO3 vs each other. First 16 advance, last 16 drop out. Then - and I know this is extremely hard to organize - I would like to see 8 divisions with 16 qualified players in each (144 in total) with 2 players advancing to challenger league from each division.
I know I am crazy but what I just described is my picture of a professional league. Every premier league player having to play 31 series to be able to show his real skills. At the format as it is now, the players play 2 or 3 series which decide about advancing or dropping out, it is just ridiculous when you compare the amount of games and time they devote into practise to the amount of games that really matter. The ratio is like 500:1. Not cool guys, not cool.
to help explain what's wrong I'm just going to quote lichter from the thread
On September 25 2013 22:17 lichter wrote: An impractical idea.
That's 496 games. Assuming you can play 5 Bo3s per day, that's 100 days straight just for the Round of 32. Unless you want only a few games of each day to be televised. It would still take 31 continuous days for everyone to play their Round of 32 matches if everyone played every day. That means almost no preparation.

It's all about the snowflakes, isn't it? Every day, someone on the internet expresses their disgust at people who think they are special. The only acceptable mindset is to believe you are the same organic decaying matter as everything else. As it turns out, I am five days late. I had decided I had questions for him, if he had the time to answer. I don't think he's more qualified than other people I know of to answer my questions, but he had a certainty in his arguments I know I could examine effectively. Could you not have waited another 5 or so days :/
