Hello teamliquid Community, I just wanted to show you a little Project, i am working on. It is a Starcraft 2 Theme for Windows 7 which is kept in generall Battle.net 2.0 Style. Currently it's only Terran and it's really just an Alpha Version. I may add Themes for other Races too if i am done with Terran.
Enough of the talking i'll show you some Screenshots.
(Still there are some white borders on the start menu and a black part i'll fix soon. Also need to adjust the Brightness.)
(Experimental Aero Preview. I currently focus on that and getting rid of the little shadow above it.)
So what do you think about it? Please let me know how you like it and if i should continue with it.
Ascor dont fret, I was about to comment on your theme, and how awesome it is.
I feel as though it should be obvious the background is just an image, a cool image, but we should be talking about the theme here not the image, carb is just a troll or something.
But on the other hand, I definitely want a piece of this theme, keep up the awesome work! I am looking forward to the protoss version myself

I would guess that you might have updated it by now - hence some more screenshots if you can
"I'm so going to download/buy this when it gets out ^^." No no no. As much as i love the idea that you would even pay for it i dont do that for 2 Reasons. 1. It's nothing special and imo not worth buying 2. I would use Blizzard material commercially which makes them able to sue me.
Nice work OP, I wouldn't use it but it looks sharp and I'm sure many folks will. (I'm a massive minimalist, so please don't take offense!)
@Progammer -- that video is hilarious. I'm curious as to what sparked the desire to create that map in the first place, and what maps can do equally weird/unique stuff but in a practical sense. (dota joke was gold btw).
Loving the Blue/Gray combo (my room is painted in those two colors), but i would like lighter gray for the letters. The Menu/Quicklands/Taskbar is perfect.
And now you are dissapointed? Listen Guys i have a halfway finished Theme here that does not require Stretching so if you want me to release this as a little "teaser" i could do that.

I got it work with some stretches and I am not gettin the startbutton to change, i use the program correct and then after I have used it I assume I am going to restart my computer as I can't open any files before I restart.

Looks really good, but are sounds or wallpapers included? Otherwise this is what i have seen issues with. Weird blue bar at bottom of Firefox window. Start Menu text color, as seen on Firefox and Thunderbird, its black text on blue background (hard to see) Start Menu shutdown area, purple instead of the blue. Start Menu all programs background color, (white? should it be blue as well?) Windows task bar at bot right. (The silver vertical bar is between battery and wireless, and Purple segment at the very right.) And, how do i install token icons? 1920x1080 background, Windows 7 64bit
I'm having the same problem as MGreeN. I tried the provided solution and it did not work, but the start button works when I go back to regular themes. This theme looks really awesome and I look forward to using it, thanks for the hard work.
Awesome! I hope you can make a good protoss one ^^ Most protoss pictures look kinda silly though. I dunno maybe the toss close up are a little too much elephant man style for my taste. Keep up the good work, and if you make it for all races, I bet you're gonna get the nobel peace prize
This is so awesome! I've been using it for a few hours now and this has to be the best theme I've ever used.
One quick question: I use the Aero peek feature a lot, and this is what it looks like on my machine, I love the border, but is there any way to make the white rectangle in the center transparent instead?

It is currently the alpha Version. I havent gotten it so far that it automatically searches for the wallpaper itself. So people would need to copy the wallpaper into the exact folder to get it work. Instead i just left the wallpaper black so you can use any wallpaper you would like to use. Also i couldn't get the Pink thingy fixed cause i can't figure out in which format (HEX, RGB, ...) the color code in the "installer" is written. I know about stretching errors and the one in the bottom right when you click the start menu. I know about the Issue when you select an icon in the taskbar.
Man i don't get why this thread doesn't got like over 100 pages atleast, this is so freaking nice! I can't imagine how much work this is. Keep it up man:D Really loving it! Btw I hope your parents know how good you are at this! if not tell them!

Yes, I did. Just double checked it and the patch option is grayed out for me so i definetely applied it.

Well uxtheme modifies your windows files so ofcourse it's recognized. However it is not my piece of code and it is needed to apply custom themes. If you dont trust me i recommend you to download it somewhere else or get the fuck out and use an official ms theme

also, as for your pesky stepfather and your seemingly strict parents, I grew up in a very strict household and I was unable to continue playing with my CS team because my parents enacted a 9PM computer curfew for me when I was 16 years old. A very ridiculous rule if you ask me.
My best advice to you is to just be agreeable with them, and do your best to maintain decent grades. If you are agreeable, and start to do well in school, they might get off your back. I never wanted to do my homework in high school, so I never managed to get good grades, and it sucked being punished for a C or a B. It gets better man, trust me.

just warning people there is a piece of malicous code inside one of the .exe
I hope he doesn't make the classic mistake of turning it into as much of SC2 as he can - and from that breaking the prettyness of it. First and foremost it's a skin - it should be designed as one. If you're sacrificing functionality or making poor design choices just to incorporate more of the SC2 theme that's probably a bad idea.
Do whatever looks good and keeps it looking clean. Readability and font choice with dark themes is key.
Good luck - some high res screenshots would be nice!
looks pretty awesome. though Im having trouble with installing the theme (the mouse cursor went great though) will fiddle around with the theme as Im probably doing something wrong.

Could you try to unapply and then apply again?
i did, several times and i still get this windows classic look with no wallpaper. Copied the folder and file to the correct location also. The start menu thing doesn't even work unless I'm on an official windows theme.
I don't think you under stood. I copy and pasted the Starcraft 2 and Starcraft 2 theme folder and file to the locations you asked. There is nothing in the read me about what to name the extracted folder or where to extract it.
1. Use Uxtheme Multi Patcher and restart your PC 2. Copy folder "Starcraft 2" into "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes" 3. Copy "Starcraft 2.theme" into "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes" 4. Use Windows 7 Start Orb Changer with 1033_08.bmp 5. Double Click "Starcraft 2.theme" 6. You may need to restart your pc in order to use custom Start orb.
I did these exact steps, if I am suppose to be extracting folders to specific locations and not extracting them and moving them afterwards I am all ears.
The problem is that i cant tell you where the problem is. I just dont know it. You could like record the installation process and upload it to youtube if you really want to make sure.

as you can clearly see, the start menu is messed up and no background. You should also include how to actually instal the token icons, as a bunch of directories with a million files in them doesn't tell me anything.

Start menu looks fine for the alpha stage. Will be improved i promise.
Also in latest release there is no background included. Can't fix it for like 4 weeks
omg i cant wait for this to be finalized! ill probably do the switch!... i cant wait to see protoss theme!... even though i play zerg.. protoss tend to be shinier/prettier... as zerg is too fleshy and slimy for a desktop theme

I know how you feel, just like the chrome design, i prefer using a protoss one because its shiny. Makes your browser feel precious, whereas the zerg one.. looks really... threatening as if the browser is gona suck you inside and make you feel ONE OF THEM. I like zerg, but im not into the insect type if you know what i mean;) I would want roaches all over my browser thoguh, funny little critters.

The folder named "Grau", and ofcourse the entire Token folder.

Actually it would be just a little fix. Changing 1 Value in the Installer and including an Wallpaper in the right Directory. Sadly i am not on my PC. So i can't fix it until 7.2.11
Ascor is there a chance of you changing that taskbar background for the active programs? It's the only thing that is deterring me from trying this theme... everything else looks great though.
Using it along with the icons and loving it thus far (shame there's no appropriate mirc icon, haha). A few tiny problems with my resolution because the laptop's is too small with no defined ratio, but nothing intolerable. Other issues were addressed by the people before this post and I'm sure they'll be smoothed out--after all, this is still very nice for an incomplete theme.
