I posted this in 2011 thread, but I think it might get buried pretty fast. Can someone try to guestimate my BF? I'm guessing around 13-14. I was a lot more lean two weeks ago, before I went on holiday mode. + Show Spoiler +

Poll: Would you consider Yoga a "legit" form of exercise? Sure. It limbers up the body and calms the mind. (2) Uhh... you mean that weird shit bitches do? (0) 2 total votes Your vote: Would you consider Yoga a "legit" form of exercise? (Vote): Sure. It limbers up the body and calms the mind. I'm considering starting up a yoga regimen since it seems much less stressful than intense resistance or cardio training.

I also take 200mg of cafffiene before i go to the gym and lots of water advice advice adivice plz! Need fatloss.. first - We have a new thread. If you look at the title, this is the 2010 version, but we're on 2011 now. Second - Health is not a "do this for a month and be all set" deal. It's a lifestyle, and it's something you will need to continue every day of your life. That said, I'll try to help. First, weight loss comes entirely from diet. There's a lot of good resources, both in this thread and the new one about diet - most people here are on some level, paleolithic dieters. Cut processed foods from your diet, cut Grains from your diet. Eat meat and vegetables for most or all meals - because it's fantastic for you. Lower Calories = more weight loss... but taking this to extremes is also unhealthy. If you're counting your calories correctly, you're going to want to stay around 1800 given your size and height. Your cardio is... alright. You should mix that up a bit - sometimes do long, steady runs. Sometimes, High Intensity Interval training. Sometimes, swimming. Sometimes, a rowing machine. The walking part of your treadmill time is pretty much useless - start at a jog if anything, then build from there. Your weight training is a shitstorm. Check out the OP of either this, or the new thread for "starting strength" and do that instead.

I cant find the 2011 thread.. I am doing that very diet u are talking about, having whole grains on weight days.. seems like 1800 calories is so much, even over averaging the calories im eating seems i can make do with much much less like 1400 AND going to the gym? Is it cause im fat and my body can handle the energy requirements? Im looking for like a 2lb loss per week.. I dont know what a deadlift is... i think i do but im not sure. I notice the weight training plans have very small reps like 5.. but i want to do more as im not trying to add mass right now just give my muscles resistance so they dont shrink while i cut calories and do cardio. U said my walking doesnt do anything.. but my heart rate jumps to about 155 doing my walking inbetween the jogs, i think this is good for fatloss... What about stimulants? Like i said about my caffiene.. i want to stay on the healthy side so nothing bad for me.. but anything else recommend in health doses?

Jumping to the conclusion that I think you're stupid, talking the way you're talking, and not reading the OP of either of the two topics, reading up on or asking about the reasoning behind different suggestions, all do little to support your cause. On August 01 2011 04:24 bdictkam wrote: I cant find the 2011 thread.. Do a search for "health and fitness" or "2011" or the topic starter's name "eshlow" would find it for you easy. Alternatively, you can look at the first page of the community section, because the thread is active enough to never drop from there. Is it cause im fat and my body can handle the energy requirements? Im looking for like a 2lb loss per week.. Whole grains are bad, regardless of whether it is a weight day or not, so no. You aren't doing paleo. Assuming before you started trying to lose weight you were completely sedentary, just to maintain 210 pounds @ 6 foot, you would need ~2650 calories per day. That only goes up if you were at all active before. 1800 is a BIG cut if you're counting properly - and like I said before, it's a lifestyle change, not a diet. You want this to be a number that you can be happy with and maintain. A 2lb loss per week might happen in the beginning, while you lose water weight. After that, it's not really healthy. Don't use numbers, rather use trends and how you look in the mirror to judge progress. Take pictures every once in a while, so you can see how the changes add up over time. On August 01 2011 04:24 bdictkam wrote: I dont know what a deadlift is... i think i do but im not sure. Not the best video, but a solid enough example of a deadlift. Adding mass is a factor of how much food you eat. If you're eating at a defecit to calories (losing weight) you're not going to be adding big muscles, because your body does not have the energy to do so. Beyond that, the reps are low, but the weights are heavy. This builds strength, more than size. There's also a low number of different exercises, but it's on a full body plan all three days that you work out. That's good - you're going to get the recovery time to make your workouts matter, while still hitting every body part more often than you would with any kind of split. Trust me (and the rest of the thread) on this - if you're trying to get stronger, and stay about the same size (muscles wise) this is the right program. On August 01 2011 04:24 bdictkam wrote: U said my walking doesnt do anything.. but my heart rate jumps to about 155 doing my walking inbetween the jogs, i think this is good for fatloss... Walking in between sprinting is called interval training, and it is good. Do something like 45 second all out sprint, 1:30 jog/walk, then repeat that sequence 10 or so times. Fantastic for fat loss. What I was talking about walking, is where you said you get on the treadmill and walk for 20 minutes, before ramping it up to jogging or using hills. That's a wasted 20 minutes. I know caffeine is an appetite supressant. Other than that, I don't know much about it. Regardless, supplements have almost no noticeable effect (beyond placebos) until you get into working out at a MUCH higher level. If it works for you now, just.... stay safe with it.

and thats something like 600 calories, [im over estimating as it was pretty lean] I had approx 350 calories in eggs for breakfast and will likely have 2 more meals of approx 350 cals for the rest of the day Seems absurd to me that i can eat 4 of those and lose weight!! Is there something im not doing right when calorie counting?? If i kept myself feeling hungry all day i could probably make due with like 1250 calories... when i need 2.6 u said. So whats going on? I feel fine too.. Guess i will take your word for it and aim for 1.8ish Why do u say whole grains are bad? Calorie is a calorie right? I believe in balance so i want some of them ![]() Ok so i was kind of doing deadlifts then, theres a machine thats kinda like that at my gym, rather then a horizontal bar its a parall one with a weight on the end. When ive done it... i get a sick feeling in my stomach and i have to sit down ;/ is that normal? Thanks for your very details and broken down responses

When ive done it... i get a sick feeling in my stomach and i have to sit down ;/ is that normal? Turkey and 9-grain wheat bread with no cheese and no other toppings: 280 calories for 6-inch. Trade that for Herb + cheese Bread: 320 calories Add Cheese (provalone): 370 calories. Add Mayo: 480 calories Make it a foot long: 960 calories. Add things like avocado, bacon, or any of their sauces and you're over 1,000 calories for just a sandwich. Wow. Veggies are basically 0 cal, sure. But this is an entirely average sub, and it's clearly LOADED with calories. Add a coke (even a small is 300 calories) and you're pushing your daily limit.) You can't have four of these - you can have one and a half of these. Plus, grains are bad. Remember? You don't want to be eating these at all. 1 large egg has 74 calories. Are you really eating 5 large eggs for breakfast and telling me "it's not much"? A glass of milk is another 150 calories if you have that with it. Orange Juice is equal in calories to Coca Cola. If you really think 1800 is a lot, you're probably underestimating what's actually in the food you're eating, or you're underestimating portion sizes - everyone does that when they're starting out. One serving is actually a LOT less than what we expect to eat at one time. As for your deadlift - machines are bad too. They force your body into unnatural paths of motion, and because of this, do not train the muscles evenly or efficiently. Free weights will give you MUCH better results than machines. No, the sick feeling is probably not normal - but it could be any number of things. Your body rejecting the stress of exercise that it is not used to... poor breathing technique, poor lifting form, improper rest or nutrition throughout the rest of the day.... the list goes on and on.
