Because what do you think is actually going to happen when people see that?
I don't remember if I used these exact words, but I know that I mentioned something about being specific and I completely agree.
this is coming from my personal experience as a teacher, but if you're going to instruct a complete novice on on how to do something, you MUST assume that they know nothing and are coming in with no knowledge. if they know some of the stuff (like, "currently, support lina isn't a thing"), then they'll just move through the ez stuff quickly. on the other hand, you're also reaching out to the people that literally had no idea that supports should let their carries take farm (with the exception of needing 50g for courier, that sort of thing). furthermore, you cover your bases even more by reaching out to the players that don't read the patch notes and haven't played in over 2 years and don't know that, for instance, void as a safe laner isn't as good as he used to be.
side note, but related to the difference between experienced players and novices. skip if you could care less about bluemoon
my buddy and I run a great dual stun lane with him on lina.. before the gold changes we used to murder safelane hard carries and win many a game through sheer space creation and lane dominance. its no longer as good .. but we also have really good levels of communication and trust each other a lot. currently, I can ping a location on the map for him to ice blast and he trusts me enough that if he uses it he'll get a kill (and frequently does)..but if he wastes it I probably just misjudged it a little bit or the person knew it would come so they took a longer route to get home safely.
so hows this related? random pubbers don't play together the way that my friend and I play together. we know how to distribute farm. if I tell him that he should go for a certain build this game, he will listen. if he tells me that he thinks that this item is better than another this game, I will listen. as the person that is making a guide for new players, you're the person that they trust as the most popular guide-maker in the English dota scene. if you don't give them enough structure, as a new player, they're not gonna know what to do. and they're not gonna trust their teammates to know what to do either because they're probably equally as bad as the person using your guide lol

it's pretty cool, but after 100 million, it's not as remarkable in the grand scheme of things.
Should be 140 million by end of May.

None for me personally, a user made a script that fixed in 6 months ago. But an official fix is huge in the grand scheme of things.

It's great in general just to see them acknowledge that the guides are important. Hopefully it bodes well for other improvements to the system.

They weren't in the patch notes, so I am not sure if it fixed itself or there was a specific effort to repair it.
A lot of more glaring/straight-up broken bugs are still in the system. Beastmaster and Invoker don't work.

I'm waiting on something both personal and in Dota before I can move forward on the next step with changes. Once it follows-through, I'll be able to accelerate changes faster and consistently without delay/intermission or foreseen halt.
On another note, Stats checkpoint on Sunday. don't expect anything special. Should be a drop from 2.9 to 2.5 million growth. This patch has also pretty much settled so hero changes and testing have thankfully slowed.

Why did Sniper go back to max Take Aim at 7? Levels 3 and 4 aren't nearly as good in lane as Shrapnel, which you're prioritizing last for some reason.
|
I've pretty much stopped caring about the specific pre-switch builds, but I do agree with that.
Shrapnel max was the build that made sniper viable, and him being nerfed into oblivion is no reason for the crappy old pub build to make a resurgence.

There's an argument for a couple more ranks in Take Aim early in safe lane, since you're less likely to be in a situation where Shrapnelling the wave is a good idea and only need it to be maxed to clear stacks at level 8 or 9. Take Aim max mid is definitely wrong, though.

I don't have enough pub info, both in live pubs and comp. to see how Sniper is played mid.
