As stated in the topic. I wish to "open" my razer abyssus for inspection and cleaning underneath the clicks...as the left mouse button has been a bit unresponsive. Perhaps it is time to retire it, but I'd still like to clean it out and see it that helps.
On another subject, what is the difference between the standard and the mirror edition of Abyssus? and how does it feel? I love my abyssus so if I have to buy another mouse itll be the same, but Im just rather curious how the mirror edition feels.

I heard the mirror edition got sticky and left very visible fingerprints + attracted dirt when i was looking into buying an abyssus (i decided against it because of coinflip with jitter issue) so its probably best to just get a regular one
|
but the standard edition im using right now is also starting to get sticky too lol. I do try to clean it gently with makeup remover + medical alcohol (as i do with the rest of my tech ware)

Uhh, I don't know if it's the case with yours or not, but frequently, the feet cover the screw holes. You can order spare feet through the Razer store. I'd say get high adhesive double sided tape, or carefully applied spray adhesive to put the feet back on or replace them afterwards.
Be careful taking it apart, though, if you decide to.

well this is bad. I dont dare to take it apart until i have a spare, but if I fix it itll be rather a waste of money (at that instant) to buy the new one

I have the mirror edition, and regret it. As with anything shiny, it shows fingerprints and dust and such really bad. I doubt it gets any more or less "sticky" than the other, but I find myself compulsively wiping it down with my cleaning cloth multiple times a day to keep it from looking bad, which is really annoying. I love the mouse, but if I get a new one, I'll definitely get matte.
I think the mirror version's more expensive, too?

On taobao (Chinese Ebay) both are sold for 135RMB (about 21 dollars). Relatively cheap... Cheapest one Ive seen is 105RMB (16 dollars)

on the bottom, there are 3 mouse feet. remove the one from the back(the biggest one) CAREFULLY, then unscrew the screw and voila! your mouse should b wide open and for you to inspect!
|
Ya the screws are underneath the feet.
I've owned both the standard Abyssus and the mirror Abyssus. I found them both to be absolutely perfect apart from one gigantic "flaw" (or should I say, preference?) that made them unusable for me. In the case of the standard Abyssus, it was the stiff buttons. In the case of the mirror Abyssus, it was the horrendous sticky plastic it was made of (the buttons on that one were super easy to push however, oddly enough).
If you like your Abyssus I'd advise you to get another one just like it!

i have abyssus and button became stiff too i put little super glue on button triger or how its called it helped

You can see what he's talking about with the singe screw in the back

I did this to take out the dumb LED that doesn't turn off even when the computer is off, and I just stuck the sticker thing back on after without problem. It's very... sticky. Good sticky.

I did this because the switches on the bottom of the mouse you use to adjust DPI and polling rate were "loose" (along the Z axis mostly). This caused various mouse movements crossing a certain speed to create an annoying "rattle" sound. It did not appear as if anything was broken, the parts just didn't fit all that well. Serial number starts PM12 so this should be part of a new batch (and for those that are mouse hunting, yes, the jitter still exists. Waiting to try a Razer Scarab mousepad before making any final judgement, but still disappointing given how well logitech last mice seem to track on all surfaces)

had double click syndrome, just took mine apart, the see-through plastic parts beneath the buttons you can see in wolfwoods post, which are supposed to press the switches, are rather low quality and get carved in after a while, fixed it with a bit of tape, lets see how long it holds.
