Without factoring pricing, I don't know why you would get a premium Gigabyte Z68 (besides their flagship UD7) board since these don't have IGP capabilities so they're basically just P67 boards with SSD caching (which you probably will never use btw). If you're interested in SLI than a MSI P67 G series of boards would be less expensive and serve that purpose, just an uglier colour scheme and less phases. | ||

800W PSU still and 8GB RAM still too much Z68 motherboard - sure you got an SSD, but will you really take advantage of caching? do you know the advantages/disadvantages involved? A cheaper P67 (like the suggested ASRock P67 Pro3) + bigger SSD will be better for most people I guess the SLI/Crossfire hype/advertising really is working because a lot of people seem really bent on getting it for no good reason (or at least you haven't said a good reason) And you still haven't posted your resolution/games. The 560 Ti would be an extreme waste if you're not playing at least @ 1080p and the latest games (even for SC2, it'd be a waste). Not to mention running SLI 560 Ti. | ||

I have a 20" Acer monitor (1600x900). I'm looking to play basically all games on at least high settings for the next couple years. Starcraft 2 is of course my #1 priority. Sorry for not having been more specific sooner. I realize my PSU is too much. Any specific suggestions? I'd like to be above recommended PSU for this one, but I get that 800W is way overkill. Would 600W be about closer to what I should aim for then? And what would be a recommended PSU for about that range? btw, I'm taking all this advice into consideration and am comparing a few different suggestions. I honestly don't know much about PC building, so if you guys could be a bit more specific as to why I may or may not need something that would be great- as much information I can gather with regards to this decision would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys, I'm checking this thread every 30 min. and there's more and more helpful stuff every time. | ||

Thanks again guys, I'm checking this thread every 30 min. and there's more and more helpful stuff every time. a 450 watt power-supply would do the job for you with 1 gpu , if your gonna sli I would add another 100 So if you wanted you could get a 600watt if your not too sure about a 550 for sli config. | ||

Note that those resolutions are higher than yours, with 1680x1050 being the closest, about 22.5% more pixels. 30 fps is a bare minimum for fluid gameplay. More than 60 is irrelevant for most monitors as the refresh rate is <60Hz. Note that those benches use very high/maxed settings with lots of AA. EDIT: I also have a 20" 1600x900 Acer and with a 6870 I can play Crysis 1 at maxed with 2x AA and it never drops below 40FPS, average around 50. SC2 is not a concern, much weaker cards can max it. | ||
