Neccesary: - Cherry MX Red switch - Tenkeyless or other compact model
Preferred: - No backlight - USA layout (small enter key)
Filco has a keyboard like this, but it's a limited edition and I can't find a shop that sells it. I live in Europe, by the way.
Your suggestions are very welcome! I love my Noppoo Choc Mini with red switches. It's not "supercompact" like some other keyboards that don't even have dedicated arrow keys or function row keys, but it still has a small frame.
Got mine from qtan5370 (i think thats the numbers...) over on Geekhack. Think it was $86 for the keyboard plus shipping.

Thanks for the suggestions Boblhead and Wihl. Here's my thoughts:
I will not be going for the PLU-87 boards, as they only have 2 key roll-over.
I already checked out the Noppoo Choc Mini earlier. While I like the placement of the F# keys on that board, the right side of the board lacks some of my favourite keys (Home, End, PrintScrn). I can't see myself using combination keys for those.
Leopold does not seem to have a Tenkeyless version with reds, at least not listed on the EliteKeyboards website.
I might end up buying the limited edition Filco with reds from that guy Boblhead linked, even though it's FUCKING expensive :/ Must.. resist....

Leopold tenkeyless cherry reds do exist, but probably not anywhere that actually ships internationally, qtan does take special orders, he could probably find the right board if you wanted. You just have to msg him
I thought elitekeyboards didn't stock fc500rs' but im definitely gonna get one, I was gonna get a ducky DK1008 w/ reds so chances are I'll just get both of them.
fml damn mechanical keyboards changed my way of thinking about keyboards, I would say its an expensive fucking hobby as a user / collector
and ya sucks that the filco tenkeyless with reds is soo expensive Q_Q

These keyboards are oki if your nostalgic about old IBM models, For typing I would assume they are great, but for gaming probably not the best switch type.

Tankguys is starting to carry tenkeyless boards from Ducky. Keep checking for a red one. They do have a red in 104.

I believe when IBM stopped making them, they bought the factory and the patents to start making it themselves.

In "Quality over all" should probably mention Topre and Deck keyboards as they are pretty much the best money can buy.

I currently own a Topre 103B and attest to the best quality of all keyboards i tried. I want to get a white topre board as well.

If you have a friend in the US you could probably average 120 each+tax/shipping and get your own checkerboard keyboard. From Canada though the WASD was rather pricey because of customs/shipping T.T Ooh Nice I ordered this same build but with a red escape key and it comes in tommorrow :D. I will try to make a video about it to give people a kinda feel for how it looks/sounds.

That's right -- Unicomps are Model Ms. I have one and love it for SC. I also have a Filco with blue switches, which I also love for SC.

This thread needs more pictures. I too couldn't resist trying out the MKP look:
Top pic shows a Cherry board (black switches) and a Filco (blue switches). I'm not a huge fan of the blacks, for typing or for gaming. I'll be modding that board with clear switches soon.
Bottom pic shows the Filco as it looks now, with doubleshot keys and RGB modifiers.

Anyone have experience with Topre switches? As I understand it they are quite good but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost. I was going with Filco majestic-2 with brown switches but they are now out of stock unfortunatly and was considering paying a little extra for a Topre instead.

They are glorious to type on, though many still prefer Cherry switches. Definitely not worth the $$ purely for SC2, but if typing is the main use of your keyboard, Topre is the best IMO.
Leopolds, which are very close to Filco in build quality, are in stock now at elitekeyboards.com. Newegg should also be stocking the Rosewill again soon, which is basically a rebranded Filco (but with a detachable cable).

Leopolds are fanfuckingtastic. Love my brown tenkeyless <3

Ok, thanks. I'm looking for some versatility in my keyboard. I do quite a lot of typing as well as gaming. I probably do prefer a keyboard that is better for typing than gaming rather than the other way around since I'm more of a the casual player, so maximizng gaming performance isn't at the very top of my list.
Leopold might work but I'm mainly looking for a swedish layout keyboard, but if that isn't available that is certainly an option.

If Swedish layout is a priority, I would suggest searching/asking at geekhack.org and deskthority.net. The latter is Europe-focused.

well if you want the best feel for typing then get blues. playing is no problem on them either, never had any doubletap issues, never heard anyone who uses blues say that they have either. keyboardco has filcos(with and without numpad) and they will ost you 110-120 pounds with shipping. if its your first mechanical keyboard you will love it, great value for money too.

Because most of us play statecraft we will say blue but other switches can function better in different situations.
