I'm surprised that there is so little talk about the Cooler Master... I mean spec wise, they look great for the price, which is why I'm having a hard time determining which to get.

So I guess it's down to the Cooler Master, G500, and DeathAdder. All three seem to be very good mouse... Who knew buying a mouse was so hard.

Do not just go out and buy a mouse that people tell you to get, you will only regret doing so. I've used over 10 mice and I know which mice are the best of the best for gaming. This coming from a person who plays Counter Strike Source Professionally, take my word for it; the MX518 ($50) is my number 1, then the Steelseries Xai ($80), and lastly the razer deathadder ($50) The MX518 is by far the best as it is an optical mouse and does not in any was fake its DPI like the deathadder does for example, and on top of that it is VERY consistent. Trust me when I say this, the XAI is just as good, but the price is well pricy, and lastly the deathadder is the best laser mouse out there but, laser mice are not very good for gaming. Don't waste your money on a g500, or CM sentinel, they are garbage imo. They dont track consistently enough to be considered good. That is why the deathadder is the only laser mouse id ever reccomend. ALSO with a mouse you'll need a good mousepad. So go pick up a steelseries QCK+, its only like $15 and covers your whole desk.

Secondly, the Xai has mouse prediction and acceleration that cannot be disabled and is hardware related (from the sensor, although minor). I personally have both the Xai and the Deathadder, and would recommend the Xai for the average person. But for someone who is even midly uneasy by prediction and acceleration the Deathadder is the clear choice. DA has the better sensor, is hand fitting based on model if you are left or right handed, but does not have as many features (which is good imo). It does it's job, and it does not need pro-gamer profiles to sell. I personally dislike ambidextrous mice, the xai's not bad dont get me wrong but I feel after using both for over a year the DA is the better mouse imho. You can turn off acceleration. dont know where you heard that, because they are wrong.

"Still using optical" isn't really how you should approach it either. Unless you're going into absolutely absurd DPI ranges, optical sensors work absolutely perfect, and you will not notice the difference between it and a laser - Maybe during pickup, but you shouldn't do that anyway. Had a few mouses myself. Used a Razer Copperhead for most of the time. Lovely thing, broke though, and replaced it with an MX518. It's brilliant; I could give you a lot of reasons for it, but let's just do this short and simple. The Logitech MX518 is within your price range, and I've never ever heard anyone actually be disappointed with it. Get it!

I think I'm going to wait it out. A month won't kill me haha. Generally speaking, isn't higher the DPI the better? Because more info is captured by the mouse when you move/don't move the mouse? I'm trying to get myself familiar with these mouse terms and stuff and well, it's a start I guess. And can someone check my previous quoted post on how the guy says there's fake DPI?

The only thing that's really been improved in mice over time is the engines (the little thing that detects how far and in what direct and what speed the mouse was moved). The optical engines used to be pretty shoddy, now they're quite good, the mx518 has a perfectly fine optical engine, and unless you're set on a laser engine, or you use a very high DPI (which is unlikely with a palm grip) then it should be a great mouse for you. I personally don't use CAD programs, however i do spend quite a bit of time poly modeling in 3DS Max and doing some animation in Maya, which I guess could fall into the same category as far as mouse usage is concerned. I use a G9x from Logitech, I think it's pretty much the perfect mouse for those tasks if you use a claw grip, however people with a palm grip tend to dislike the mouse as it is heavy and intended to be used at a high DPI setting (and it has a modern, very high-end and high DPI precision laser engine.0
