WOW ok the razer site driver v3.02 link is broken. I got it off another site but now the touch pad doesn't work at all. In the driver control window says version 3.01 which is the newest driver for it I can get, Firmware version is 2.02.

And Vista is up to date.

Any other info I missed that can help?

Well, you can either endlessly RMA the things until you get tired of it and buy something else, or you can uninstall the Razer software and see if it's still close enough to what you wanted to use.

Or you can buy a different keyboard.

Sadly, the software is broken, and Razer refuses to hear it.

Which is sad considering the hardware is solid but their software is something they need to seriously work on (I mean even their site software is junk). I guess we'll see how much BS I want to put up with. Any keyboards I should look into that are the same as Lycosa in style?

What specific features do you want?

Nothing crazy. Back lite keys are a must at this point (getting old can't use screen grow anymore) I'd like something where I can play/pause, skip music while playing Sc2 and Diablo 3 Otherwise just a solid keyboard for gaming. I liked the concept of the Lycosa with the heard phone and usb jacks on the back of the keyboard for easy plug in.

Corded.... um....Can't think ATM.

Basically everything the lycosa is SUPPOSE to be minus the buggy fail software. Thinking I might just remove the drivers and hope it works out. (to bad I payed so much for a keyboard that doesn't work right from a company that is not helping me with the problems with the product I bought from them)

Indeed, same feeling. But lucky, because that's pretty much what I needed, and still have out of mine. It should treat you ok overall, but it's definately annoying to get the function of a $10 keyboard with pretty backlit keys after paying so much.

And yes, the USB/Audio jacks still work too. Basically everything that you didn't have to open the Razer software to set up continues to work without the Razer software, handily.

WTF ok after exchanging a few emails with razer support about my Lycosa Issues I received this email...

Hello,

We apologize for the problems you have had with your Razer Product. In lieu of having to return the product for an exchange you can simply supply a picture of the unit showing the cut USB cord/audio connector and the serial number of the unit. Once we have the picture we can send out a replacement product for you. You should be able to cut the cord with a standard pair of scissors. Please be sure to show the cut USB cord/audio connector and the serial number in the same picture whenever possible.

We know that cutting the cord on a Razer product can be a bit painful for some of our devoted fans; truthfully, it makes us cringe a bit also. If you prefer to return your entire defective unit, just let us know and we will supply you with a traditional (RMA) Return Authorization Number. We just thought sending the picture would make things a bit easier and quicker for you.

Am I high or does this seem like BS to anyone else? they are asking me to cut my USB cord.... how is that a sane idea at all?

They just want proof that you are "returning the product" If it came from them, I'd trust it. It sort of makes sense, that way they only need to pay for shipping one way.

How does cutting the USB = proof that I am "returning the product"?

Additionally I've tried to explain to them its NOT a hardware issue but a Software. But the only solutions I get from them are hardware related. I'm almost 100% sure its the Lycosa's software but I have up to date drivers off their site but its still bugging out. At this point I'm thinking Jingle is right and I'll just have to live with an 80 dollar keyboard that has all the functionality of a 20 buck keyboard I could have gotten at walmart.

no real surprise. Uninstalled drivers and it works 100% fine (so far). SIGH I know code is a #$%^& but debugging shouldn't be this big of an ordeal.

10 mins later

URG this thing is driving me a little crazy. reinstalled drivers just to be thorough in my testing but it seems to still be working fine. At this point I'm not sure what to make of this keyboard any more. Can't tell if it was something legitimately wrong with it or if it was just my own computer being retarded.. I just want to pay da moneys for stuff that works out of the box without all these issues

Well, I've been talking to them about it the last few weeks, and they seem to have released new drivers in a big hurry, at their request, I'm doing their job for them and testing it. 3.02 is the new version. Unfortunately, haven't had the drivers long enough to confirm it's fixed like not using the drivers, but hey, maybe they realized they could stop losing money on this damn line.

They give you the choice of either destroying your unit and getting a new one or sending your unit back and getting a new one. They just don't want you to have two working ones for free.
(Doesn't mean you can't just solder it back together)

Are the new drivers still working for you? My issues seem to have gone, but I switched from Vista x64 to 7 x64 while I wasn't using the software, so I'm not sure if that could be the real reason mine works with the software now.

I had this keyboard for 1 year and it's a piece of shit. Trackpad kept bugging and i just did nothing because i was really angry paying 80€ for this stuff.

Sometimes it just launched Winamp in middle of some arena, gving me black screen. Or it would just pass all the music for like 5s and then switch to next. Made me want to kill this keyboard, my computer, and myself.

One day some key eventually got stuck and i trashed it, swearing i would never buy any Razer products again. Well, i got myself a Naga mouse to play WoW since...

But advice: just return this.

I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled the v3.02 off their site and it seems to be working perfect (so far).

The issues I was having seem to have been cause by installed the new drivers on top of old ones. It was not uninstalling the old drivers properly causing errors. So if you completely clear the old drivers before installing the new ones it SEEMS to fix it.

So far its working fine. Every problem it was having before is gone. At this point the only thing about it that bugs me is that it doesn't have a mute button. (have to hold volume down button till its quite)

I'll post if any problem arise but for last 5 days since I cleared old drivers and installed the v3.02 driver its been working perfectly.

Awesome. Wonder if they feel a little silly knowing they've done that many RMA's on perfectly good keyboards...

Any update to this? I bought mine in august 2010, and lived with unplugging the usb until now when I have some spare time.

I'd like to see if this is fixable without sending it in.

Do you have the most recent drivers? They fixed the problem for me, and for a lot of other people, it seems.

Shortly after they got alerted to their "hardware" issue being software, or at least a combination of both.

I am using windows vista and what i did is this:

1.Uninstall Razer Lycosa software from my computer, restart.
2.Go to the Razer website and download the driver 3.02.
3. Testing a few hours now

Everything still works except pressing play to launch iTunes (my program of choice)
I don't use macros so I dunno if they work, but once in iTunes I can use the skip song, volume control pause and play just fine.

So far I haven't noticed any bugging out. Have I done everything correctly?
