Hey guys,
I'm in love with the Logitech Mini Optical and I think it's the best mouse ever made. However, they are discontinued now and I might wanna try someone else once my current one wears out. What mouse is closest to the LMO in design and feel? I have a Razer Abyssus but I dislike it because the sides of the mouse are glossy smooth and I don't like the feel of the click and scroll wheel.
I know the Salmosa is a step down from the Abyssus but is the design closer to the LMO? What about other mice such as the Steelseries Kinzu? I've been looking at it lately but no direct comparisons.

Try the logitech m100, it's not 100% the same and I'm not playing anymore, so my opinion might be off, but it's only 10 EUR or so, so just get it and see for yourself.

I used to use a Logitech Mini Optical for BW, as well.
SteelSeries Kinzu is a very similar feel and size to the Logitech Mini Optical. The mouse is very simple. The rubber-like coating is fine and doesn't really interfere during play and my hands sweat a lot sometimes so the rubber doesn't make my hands slip. I'd recommend it if you used to use a LMO. When I started playing SC2 I switched to a G1 Logitech, but even that felt clunky in my hands for some reason. The Kinzu is a good shot.

Is there a reason the salmosa is only good for the fingertip grip and not the claw grip? I'm guessing it's because there's not much to grip on the sides in the front part of the mouse..
Sigh, they should just make a higher DPI version of the LMO, nothing else measures up.. The kinzu is a full centimeter bigger than the LMO and so is the abyssus and pretty much every other mouse except the asian salmosa, but I use the claw grip..

Look at the ergonomics of a salmosa and it's size, its almost perfectly built for your fingers to rest on the salmosa and abyssus for a fingertip grip.
I still have a LMO(football) but i dont use it anymore, due to the fact that i now like big mice & changed to a palm grip from fingertip, palm/claw grip gives you much more precision on large mice ( lachesis and mx518 for me) and i say its actually worth a try switching to big/mid sized mice instead of finding/getting something similar to LMO.

I've gotten used to the claw grip too much for me to switch that I can't even remember how I would move the cursor downward with a palm grip. Would I move the entire forearm? lol and I think the claw grip is ideal for starcraft because of the speed and types of movements that you need to do (dragging, etc)
I retract my statement about there not being another mouse as small as the LMO other than the asian salmosa. I just found the roccat pyra and it looks perfect, and I ordered it. Just preparing for the day I play sc2, right now I'm using my perfect LMO for brood war.

I use it when i play BW sometimes, other than that i never use it.
Never thought the pyra was that small o.o or am i misunderstanding something?

The pyra is actually even smaller length wise than the LMO at 9.5 cm. The LMO is about 10.5cm.

The salmosa is huge. Do not buy.
Salmosa asian edition, Logitech G1 probably not much else to get in terms of fingertip grip.
Most mice are huge.

I switched from the logitech mini optical to the G9x with precision grip and had no trouble at all readjusting. I like it better than the mini because the sides of the mouse don't wear out an get nasty rubbery stuff all over my hands everytime I play. Also, if you have a decent mousepad, the g9x practically floats. It's amazing. I would suggest it to anyone who prefers a smaller mouse. The only thing that I don't like about it is the scroll wheel. It's a little awkward at first, but you don't really use the scroll wheel that often in games anyways, so it won't affect your performance

So to be clear, the DPI of LMO is 400 (not enough for sc2) whereas the G1 is 800 right?
And 800 is enough for sc2?

For other people's information, I just got the roccat pyra and the salmosa asian edition, and the salmosa is much more like an LMO. It's a little bit smaller width wise but once you get used to that it should be the perfect size and shape. I don't like how the side of the pyra is angled, it's uncomfortable on my pinky.

as you can tell, very similar in size, although the Salmosa is slightly bigger. For some reason I feel a little less accurate with the Salmosa (I have trouble moving the mouse a very small distance)

Go for the korean pro gaming edition on ebay. I held the bigger version in my hand and it didn't feel very good. The little bit of extra length makes a big negative difference. Same reason why I'm not to keen to order to kinzu.

get mouse skates for your LMO and then e-mail steelseries and ask why they can't copy the design of the most popular esports mouse of all time

Never used the LMO, but the Salmosa I have is great! Haven't had any issues with it other than the fact that I have to clean it. You may hear a lot of things about the fragility of razer products but I haven't had any issues yet.

I'd be careful if you're buying the kinzu, you'll love it or hate it. It's very small and it has built in positive acceleration that you can't turn off. I really didn't like it at first, but after getting used to it i love it. So if you don't mind the fact that it's going to take time to get used to this very different mouse, then i would go for the kinzu.
