This happened to me for the whole week last week and was incredibly annoying. My computer had always been fine with sc2 up until that point and I made sure I closed everything unnecessary and things that I usually have running (pidgin, AVG, firefox, mozy) that could possibly do anything.

Nothing changed. Then suddenly this week it decided to stop lagging/stuttering suddenly and unfortunately its cause and fix are completely unknown to me. This leads me to believe that it could be Bnet or my connection to Bnet as the opponents never complained about any lag/stuttering.

if it doesn't happen in replays, but it does when u play on-line then the logical conclusion would be to blame the network.
Are you using a wireless network?
Do you share the network with anyone?
Since you have a brand new installation, did you check if your OS is downloading updates?

It doesn't have to be on your side either, could be Battle.net is just laggy.

Oh, and make sure it's not your virus scanner either. add the sc2.exe to trusted applications

I would agree but in about 70 games not one single person has complained about me lagging.

Are you using a wireless network?

Yes but I am hard wired.

Do you share the network with anyone?

Yes, one person but all they use is facebook and such. Problem also continues when they go to bed and turn off their computer.

Since you have a brand new installation, did you check if your OS is downloading updates?

Automatic updates are off

Just seems odd it recently just started happening and it's always happening, even when other near my physical location are not having it happen.

Oh, and make sure it's not your virus scanner either. add the sc2.exe to trusted applications

No virus scanner is installed.

Yeah this happens to me at times as well. Annoying as hell. Wasn't like this in beta.

And what is with bnet nowadays. Since the latest patch, it takes FOREVER to be able to search for a match.

I have the same problem with my computer but it happens to me when any audi oapplication is running. I think there is a problem with my hdd or perhaps the onboard soundcard. The RAM in my comp tested fine and you should check that too and tonight when I go to bed im going to run a HDD test from POST using a bootable cd.

I also have a realtek card in my laptop but since it happens outside of sc2 for me it might be a different problem unless it happens while doing other applications at the samee time as well for you.

I used to think it was audio too.. but then I tried playing SC2 with sound completely off and it still kept happening.

No idea what causes it, I think it's a bug on blizzard's end. Personally I think it has something to do with map size. It happens much less on simple maps than complicated maps. For instance it almost never happens on Steppes of War. But some of the more graphically heavy ICCup maps, it happens first time every time, even after a reboot. Perhaps something to do with pathfinding. Some of Blizz' graphics are bugged, too. I notice they finally fixed the corruptor. But maybe there's some doodad or something used on certain maps that causes it.

try doing a memory test with memtest86. i run a ton of stuff in the background and never had this issue, try running sc2 alone and see if this issue persist, i think it might be just the server knowing blizzard can't even keep a world of warcraft server "illidan" up properly since it crashes a few times a year even after a hardware upgrade.

What the fuck are you people talking about?!

Have you tried the first, most basic thing yet?

UPDATE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD DRIVERS.

Use driver sweeper to uninstall the old driver BEFORE installing the new version.

I cant believe how many people dont know SHIT ALL and post like they know what they are doing!

Might just want to update windows while your at it. ALWAYS have the latest windows updates unless they are causing issues. If that happens you roll back.

I had this issue ever since SC2 came out, and I fixed it a few days ago by turning off 'Wireless Zero Configuration' on WinXP.

This would be the Win Vista/7 solution, if it is this: http://www.wlanbook.com/disable-windows-vista-wireless-zero-configuration/

No virus scanner is installed.

Thanks for answering all my questions.
The mystery only gets bigger though.
But seriously, no virus scanner? do you have any idea how easy it is to get a virus on your pc?
I'd download a free virus scanner and do a scan if I were you. Could be your pc is on a zombie network and someone else is abusing your internet connection.

If you took 2 minutes to read the thread you will see I have already done that and it has been suggested.

I do know, but I also was in IT for 7 years fixing computers with shit like that. Now I'm on a fresh install, and only browse sites that I know are safe (TL, MMAjunkie, Yahoo, etc). I have not torrented anything or even have it installed. All my downloads come right from the manufacturers site (skype) or right from download.com and I have used them in the past.

Looking at the video again, I think it's safe to say it's not your cpu or graphics card or memory. There is a slight freeze, but the programs speeds up to compensate and that means it's not the calculations that hold it back.

Only 2 things that I can come up with that could have something to do with it.
1. your modem has a bad connection with your ISP. You could give them a call and they can change the frequency which slightly lowers your speed but should improve your connection stability.
2. Someone else is using your wireless network, but I think you probably have a good password so it's not likely.

I hope this helps, let us know when/if you've fixed it!

I have the same issue, and for me it seems to be related to sound settings. I assume we all have a Realtek sound chip. Try updating your sound chip driver and reducing the sound channels in SC2. I was also trying out some settings in the Realtek Audio manager.
I fiddled around a bit and right now it works for me. I just keep my fingers crossed it stays this way

Wow that's odd. I do have Realtek, how do you reduce channels to SCII? What other changes did you make?

sry, that I didnt follow this thread, I hope your problems have been resolved. If not, there is a option in SC2 under sound to reduce the sound channels. The default is 64, I turned it down to 48.
I also normally have both speakers and headphones attached to my PC (back and front), and use the option to play different sound streams over different outputs. When I play SC2, I have to turn off this option, so it mutes my speakers and only plays sound over my headphones.
