Damn, now I want an EC2-A cause that's like the best of both worlds! Is it lighter than the EC1 and IME 3.0 as well?

It definitely is:
- intelli 3.0 = 108g
- EC1-A = 97g
- EC2-A = 93g

You saw the difference in size in the picture I posted on the previous page between the IME 3.0 & the EC2-A, and sure, it's visually obviously smaller (the EC2-A) but what's even more impressive is the weight difference, weighs 15g's less than the IME 3.0.

Even the EC1-A is still smaller than the IME 3.0

You're most welcome!

You can (pre-)order it btw: http://www.rexflo.net/products/benq-zowie-ec-series-ec2-a-gaming-mouse-free-shipping?variant=10909946945

on a sidenote: which games are you playing? I noticed you mentioned q3 so I take it you're playing QL nowadays? Just wondering.

Wow, it's cheaper than the amazon price, perfect

Aside from all the easy fps rpgs, still playing all the quakes, 1-2 crap speedruns, killing nightmare bots on 3 when bored (which everyone can easily do by now anyway, still fun), dabbled in q3a mods ra, osp, cpm, defrag (still can't run, or should I say jump, worth a damn). Still surprised how many trick jumps I'm unable to do to this day, like that damn q3dm6 bridge to rail...

Haven't touched QL in a while when everyone was crying about how Bethesda ran that game into the ground (loadouts lol...), would love to get back into it if things improved for more team deathmatches, ctf, or just good ol' 1v1s

Yeah, I've given up on quake altogether, played quakeworld again few years ago & q3 defrag, but now it's really just not worth it, and QL, meh, I've never been too fond of it (first of because it started as a browser based game, never liked that). I'd say give reflex a try (I'm on there as well doing defrag (race) together with KOS etc.. who made the defrag movie for w3sp called f33l), it's amazingly fun and it's still in its early development stages.

(it's even better now & available on steam)

First time I've heard about it, the hectic gameplay is very reminiscent of quake, I'll definitely give it a shot!

Are the Omron switches of the new Zowie better than the old Huanos for let's say, sc2 / MOBAs?
I'll probably go into a store which has the FK1 but I don't know if I want to wait for the new version, especially since I don't care much if the wheel is bugged since I don't use it much in gaming (I don't play FPS and I think it's only in FPS that you really need it?)

Huano switches are stiffer and require more force, omron switches are more comfortable, require less actuation force etc.. So if you want the better of the two, in your case, I would wait for the omron switches.

I've never experienced the infamous mousewheel bug everyone's talking about though so I was lucky or the bug isn't noticeable (though I am certain I would've noticed, details matter more to me than anything else). I think you can bind the scrollwheel in mobas and rts games so it's not only useful in FPS games.

The ec2-a was out of order so I went and bought the FK1. The vendor could not tell me which one it was, I still bought it because Omron or Huanos were a win - win and I did not want to wait any longer.

Turns out it's from 15/09 so Huanos (and I can feel it even tho these ones are supposedly lighter), the FK1 shell apparently make it even harder to click but it's fine imo, I didn't play many games yet but adjusting to 800 dpi instead of 1100 was harder than the clicks (the ones on DeathAdder Black Edition were already stiffer than usual DA) so I think it's fine :D.

The mouse didn't seem that much smaller than DeathAdder on paper but it actually feels much smaller which makes it easier to claw, I think smaller would be hard with large hands so I'm glad I took the FK1 and not FK2.

The easiest way to tell is by the colour of the logo on the mouse, red = omron, white = huano.

The clicks are softer on the EC A than on the FK, probably due to the shell. I had a hard time clicking quickly on my FK1, but it's perfectly doable on the EC A. I'll add that the EC2-A is really great, the only downside being the wheel activating an additional time while between two notches, which pretty much only happens on CS because I spam MWdown to jump (bhoping like a speed demon). It's a perfect palm mouse for small hands, and it's the only palm mouse I've liked to use for RTS/mobas so far.

Got my Zowie (ordered from Rexflo) and put it to work right away:

1000Hz right out of the box (turned it down to 500Hz), switching between 1600 and 3200dpi depending on game (also has 400 and 800 setting). Thanks again pEcul!Ar, I love this mouse!

@riotjune you're most welcome, but why lower the polling rate? Years ago, 1000hz could've been unstable with the majority of gaming mice, but now, there's really no reason for it as it is very stable, and lowering it would actually have a negative effect. Just saying.

Not saying 500hz is bad, but with the mouse you have now.. There's no reason for it.

Cause I don't want to blow a hole in my usb port

Seriously though, doesn't it like double the stress/load for only a 1ms advantage? I'd figure it wasn't worth it, plus I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. For reference, I have trouble with 1 frame links in street fighter, even with a 2 frame (33ms) window with plinking.

Haha well in all honesty, the chance of blowing up your usb port is very minimal.

Unless you have a very weak CPU, there is no downside to 1000Hz that I know of. You should also try getting used to 800 dpi, it's usually better for muscle memory and accuracy to use low-ish dpi.

I can confirm for the DPI, I was around 3k dpi (with a "control" mousepad tho) and I lowered it to 1000-1100, and now 800 with the FK1, and I find myself as fast (and even faster for precise things like minimap clicking) as before, as weird as it sounds, yet more accurate, so I would give it a try if I were you.

If you need a motivation to get out of your comfort zone, almost all sc2 pros use <1000 dpi, same for CS:GO (usually 400 and they adjust the ig sensivity so it's between 400-1000), I don't know for MOBA but seeing fnatic members with giant mousepads, probably low as well.

Ok, you guys convinced me to up the polling rate back up to 1000Hz, pretty sure my computer can handle it without any problems now.

As for dpi, I was doing aiming exercises on 3200dpi and had to decrease the ingame sensitivity by a lot to hold a steady aim, thus drastically increasing my cm/360, so I decided to revert back to 400dpi for fps. Going to use 800dpi for desktop and other games, rts, etc. Good to know I can revert back to my comfort zone and don't HAVE to use the higher dpi settings! Now I just have to get used to the higher polling rate (still doubt I'd be able to tell the difference, but hey less lag so

Thanks for all the input guys, much appreciated!

It's better to adjust your sensitivity via the DPI of the mouse and leave the windows and ingame sliders on default (6/11 windows, uncheck enhanced pointer precision, 51%ish % sc2 I think?) so that you avoid pixel skipping. DPI is only a ratio between hand movement and cursor movement, not a unit of accuracy. Have fun!
