Never had a problem with any Zowie mouse, not even the scroll wheel has bugged me so I'm not sure what you mean by "the occasional wheel jump".

The physical notches aren't synced with the software "click", and sometimes (mainly on CS:GO because I use MWdown to jump) the software click will happen between two physical notches, so I get a non-wanted scrolldown. This only happens in a very specific situation and is still very rare, so I don't mind, but it's still good to know about the issue.

Any idea of when it will be actually available in stores? I will probably send a mail directly to the store anyways but maybe there is a standard time for that kind of stuff. I claw grip, had a deathadder but would prefer a smaller mouse so I guess the FK1/2 are good choices but since I have large hands FK1 is probably better?
|
A friend of mine bought an EC1-A as a replacement from his deathadder and the shapes were almost perfectly similar, so you may want to check out the EC2-A that is a smaller version of the mouse if you liked your deathadder. If you'd prefer an ambidextrous mouse the the FK and ZA series are great, just compare the sizes to your deathadder to find what you need.

btw guys, since i couldn't get a 100% working g303 after three RMA's i just bought the amazonbasics optical mouse for 6 bucks. been using this for a month now and right now i don't see myself changing it. no flaws for me except that i don't know its tracking speeds or sensor details. what really does it for me is the size/shape.

it's a fixed 1000 dpi, the clicks/switches are really nice as well, about as much force required as your random omron switch, but without the clicky sound.
for the price this one can be a no-brainer if you're just looking for a rts/sc2 mouse.
here's a comparison pic:

Looking for a new mouse, as the one I have is slowly dying
1. What's your grip style? Sort of a hybrid between claw and palm grip. The Back of the mouse rests in my palm but I grip the side and mouse buttons with a claw like grip 2. What's your sensitivity? I play at 800 dpi, 6/11 windows sensitivity setting and disable mouse sensitivity in Sc2 3. What's your maximum budget? $75
4. Do you want additional buttons? I need the two extra buttons on the left side of the mouse, but anything other than that is superfluous to me. 5. What games do you play? Starcraft 2, Fallout 4, Ark : Survival Evolved 6. Do you mind angle snapping? I would prefer not to have it, but it's not a deal breaker.
7. Other relevant information: I'm currently using a Logitech G700, which is pretty much perfect shape and size wise, but a little too heavy, even with the battery removed (I don't use it as a wireless mouse). I'd like a replacement that's pretty close in shape and size but a little bit lighter.

hi guys,
looking for some help i use an Orochi from Razer (wired). i realy love it; nice for my little squared hand but there are some weird " accuracy issues " and i dont know how i can discribe that. its like " pointer jump " you know. the sensor and the mousepad are clean...
so i tried others mice : razer krait 2013, deathabbers, cmstorm spawn, razer abyssus, razer imperator, steelseries... all are excellent but to much big.
1. What's your grip style? claw 2. What's your sensitivity? 2000 (6 for windows and disabled for sc2). 3. What's your maximum budget? $100~ 4. Do you want additional buttons? not necessary; but i accept it 5. What games do you play? Starcraft 2 6. Do you mind angle snapping? no problem
7. Other relevant information: i play with very small movements; i think to try xhornet II from cmstorm but the shape (like spawn) is pretty weird for me
thanks for ideas !

Is using an fps mouse like the Corsair M65 for rts games a good or bad idea, and why? Still deciding between this and the Logitech G502.
Edit: Huh, M65 is laser. Looks like G502 it is?
|
The Corsair M45 is optical.

There are no fps or rts specific mice, if you like the shell go for it! In general people use different grips for different types of games, but it's up to you whether you like to use it or not.

Thanks Ropid and Nimix!
I still don't know what I want (couldn't finish wo1fwood's dissertation on mice XD), so I'll put an inquiry here.
Top 2 attributes is lightweight (or removable), and some extra buttons that's easily accessible without drastically changing finger positions (mostly for Tab function in SC2/WC3). Looking to replace my old Logitech G1, the G100s on the previous page caught my eye, but it only has one button in the middle that's fairly out of reach (have to bend index finger all the way).
I've always prefer lightweight small mice, but lately the bottom part of my palm (where it connects the wrist) starts to hurt after long sessions since it's constantly resting on the mousepad (Steelseries qck heavy), and I have to resort to a beaded cushion when not gaming to alleviate aches. I don't know if a bigger mouse or changing my grip might remedy the problem, or if I should just take more breaks in between.
Rest of answers: + Show Spoiler +1. What's your grip style? Fingertip 2. What's your sensitivity? 360º: 16.5 cm 3. What's your maximum budget? About $100 4. Do you want additional buttons? Yes 5. What games do you play? Mostly FPS, some RTS, one MMO 6. Do you mind angle snapping? Prefer raw input (even though G1 had it) 7. Other relevant information: Lightweight/removable with extra buttons! Prefer not Razer
Thanks!

@riotjune: I dont know about the Corsair mouse, but I own the Logitech G502, and while it's probably the best mouse I've ever hold for all kind of grips, it's pretty heavy. I am using without the additional weights provided, and still find it super heavy compared to my old Abyssus.
I have no idea about FPS mouse, but if the G100s caugh your eye, may be take a look at Logitech G302/303? much lighter than G502, got 2 side buttons, although the shape can be a bit weird to hold, that one is up to your preference

Thanks bluegarfield
I have a Intellimouse 3.0 for FPS, but its' 400dpi was actually terrible for everything else (too low for general browsing), so I just stuck with the old 800dpi G1 for everything, even FPS games that I mostly play (too lazy to swap mice )
While checking out your recommendations for G302/303, I happened across the G402, which might also be the mouse I'm looking for. Its' shape looks comfortable and is also slightly lighter than the G502, though the even lighter G303 is tempting as well. Right now it's a tossup between G402 and G303.
Edit: Seems like people are having problems with the G303 after reading a couple pages back...

Yeah g303 has some issues in manufacturing that affect almost all mice to varying degrees
|
Damn, that sucks.
I was considering the older g302, but they call it a moba mouse! I freakin' hate those games.
Plus it looks like the sensor isn't up to snuff for fps flick shots. Back to square one...

The intelli 3.0 has 450 dpi, which is fine in-game, browsing can be a drag depending on the size of your monitor/res, the problem with it is the 125hz polling rate which you can only bump up by overclocking.
Talking about flickshots though, made me laugh. If you want anything similar to an intelli 3.0 (have one myself), get a Zowie EC1-A. (got the EC2-A which is a bit smaller, will be buying the EC1-A with the new switches eventually), other options that cross my mind.. Razer Abyssus, Razer Diamondback, Razer Deathadder, SteelSeries Rival, Zowie fk/EC/za series (own the ZA13 & the EC2-A), I know for a fact that get_right from NiP (csgo professional) uses the g303 from Logitech and he doesn't seem to be experiencing any problems.
Obviously, way too many options available, but going by the fact you've been using an intelli 3.0 so far, I'd say get a Zowie (from the EC series).
And yes, when it comes to gaming mice, I'll always be recommending Zowie before any other brand, because from my personal experience, the build quality & the sensors (especially now, the old EC had prediction which was quite noticeable but didn't bother me at all) are unmatched.
Used Razer for a few years: breaks easily, but the sensors are good
Steelseries build quality is a joke, feels like cheap plastic & the sensors depending on which mouse you're getting can be a joke as well. (had several of them, going from the kinzu series to the sensei series)
Microsoft (used the intelli 1.1a, 1.1se & the 3.0 & the wmo) <- back in the days those were like THE fps gaming mice, thinking back at the times of quake 3 on LAN (& online obviously), about 80% of the players I knew back then were all using the intelli or the wmo, but nowadays, they're not up to par anymore unfortunately, unless you OC your usb port so you're running your mouse at 500hz polling rate, else you're stuck with 125hz which can feel laggy/jittery and nowadays with the 144hz monitors out there etc, it's even more painful to play with such a low polling rate.
For me personally, Zowie is like what Microsoft was back in the days when we were all fanboying the wmo/intelli 3.0, 1.1a (or the 1.1se), sure, the shape's different yet feels familiar, and I can't really say anything other than Zowie is really the go-to brand for gaming mice. No drivers/software to install etc.. using shortcurts by pressing down several specific keys to change the polling rate (1000hz polling rate is standard when you plug it in for the first time so I never had to change anything), & the DPI can be changed (400-800-1600-3200) by pushing the little button next to the sensor (doesn't obstruct anything, you don't even notice it's there). You can see what DPI your mouse is set to by the colour of the sensor(& scroll wheel for the EC series), 400-red/800-pink/1600-blue/3200-green.

Thanks for your thorough input, I think I might end up with the EC1-A with the new omron switches and wheel once amazon starts carrying them, whenever that is. The big size might hinder rts games a bit (no more fingertip box spam), but I'm a fps gamer first and everything else second . Wonder how it'll do for osu (isn't everyone using tablets anyway? XD)
I'll probably miss the old Logitech's angle snap cause quake3 lightning gun op, but it's easily simulated by tweaking yaw and pitch settings. I rather have raw input for everything else though. Looks like all options are covered with this mouse, now all I gotta do is wait grrrrr....

I'll post the size difference between the EC2-A & the 3.0 so you have an idea about which one you want (the EC1 or EC2).
edit: here you go
Used sandpaper to scrub off the top texture off my intelli 3.0 many years ago, felt better afterwards.
Using a SteelSeries Dex mousepad btw (used the qck heavy for a very long time, ordered the newest zowie mousepad which is even bigger but didn't like the texture of it so I got myself a Dex, smaller, but it's really good)
As you can see, the EC2-A is a tad smaller than the intelli 3.0, but if you're not bothered by it and you think a bigger size might affect your play on rts games, the EC2-A is an option.
The EC1-A with the omron switches & the new scrollwheel can be pre-ordered at several online places btw.
Just some angles so you can see the shape better:
(Ducky Legend keyboard in the background if anyone's wondering & a benq xl2411z monitor))

Damn, now I want an EC2-A cause that's like the best of both worlds! Is it lighter than the EC1 and IME 3.0 as well?
