While that's true, I would say that a good number of g9x users have successfully transitioned to the G303 (myself included).

Hm, I'm considering buying a zowie EC2-a as it seems kind of ideal to play FPS (classic ambidextrous mice are too big for me), but I read about a very common issue with the scroll wheel (scrolls not registering). However, the posts were from 2 years ago, does anybody know if this issue has been fixed and I can safely buy one or if this is still a problem? There are also mentions of issues with click latency, but then again I couldn't go through the 130 pages of the thread on overclock.net so if anybody has any information I'd welcome it

From quick googling it seems to have a (relatively) very big click delay (about 20ms slower than the best mice, so 3 frames on 144hz) and i didn't see anything about a fix

Yeah, I read about that but was unable to actually determine if it was a EC or EC A issue, some people were saying it had been fixed on the FK1 and therefore on the ECA, some seemed to say it was still there... It's my main concern with the scrolling that sometimes seems to not register (but as with the click delay, I couldn't be sure wether it's been fixed on the ECA or not ). I guess I'll have to browse some more, but most of the posts about issues talk about the first EC or the EC eVo, so the problems may have been fixed on the A... Thanks!

Edit : After browsing more extensively it seems that the main scrolling issue has been fixed (the feedback is still not synchronized with the actual scrolling, but the wheel doesn't jump anymore), and the click latency has been reduced to something acceptable (around 8ms worst than a G302, that is to say 10ms better than the FK1). I'll give it a go and report if the issues are noticeable in game.

I cannot decide which mouse is best suited for starcraft 2. I prefer very soft clicks on mouses, (rubber made maybe? the softer the better) I use only 2 buttons really so no need to rush for additional buttons. Can someone advice me what mouse should I buy?

So far these mouses looks interesting to me
- Zowie ZA13
- Steelseries Rival (not sure about shape)
- Razer Deathadder Chroma (this one is expensive though)
- Razer Abyssus (button material used on this one looks hard to me, hope its soft)
- Logitech G100
- other?

Someone help me decide please. (sent me private message with your advice if you like to )

Thanks

Got my EC2-A, the click latency isn't noticeable at all (at least for me, playing at SMFC/GE on CS:GO, no issues awping or whatever), the scroll wheel is fine (it seems that the tactile feedback is indeed slightly misstimed, but the wheel doesn't jump randomly or miss scrolls so it's not an issue at all for me) and the mouse feels great. I would definitely recommend it for people that want a palm grip mouse but have small-ish hands, it's much smaller than an IME 3.0 (I can provide pictures if someone's interested) and it's really comfortable. The clicks are softer than on the FK1 too, which is a plus!

Looking for advice between G502 and G302. Sadly G303 is nowhere to be found here

I'm currently using Razer Abyssus. Liked the mouse a lot, but loathe Razer software. As for grip style, am really not sure, because I do all sort of grip depending on whether I feel lazy or not. Here is a visual example of how i grip my mouse when casually use for web browsing or when lazy

Mostly play dota2 and diablo3. When I play I just tighten the grip a bit, so not much different. I only get to try the mouse a bit at the shop, no extensive usage so cant say which one will fit better. G302's shape seem to be more similar to Abyssus, but G502 seems to be superior in both sensor and in every other way. Using 1800dpi at the moment, but planning to retrain my muscle memory to around 1000dpi for no apparent reason lol.

I currently have an older Razer Abyssus that I love because of it's light weight and low profile/arch*. Does anyone have recommendations on a mouse that may be similar form factor, but has a thumb button? I'll just buy another Abyssus if I can't find a good substitute, but I've been playing a lot more team games lately (DotA and the like, and not having a voice chat button on the mouse is a bit of a drag).

*You can a good comparison here: https://rzr-insider-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/2014/12/125285_47fb72acfb48dbb976d8ef453b0a3d39.jpg

I guess it's good timing because it's a very similar concern to the poster before me . The g302 is a definite contender, are there any others out there though?

How's the arch of the Diamondback compared to the Abyssus and Deathadder? Deathadder is definitely too much arch for me, but I may be able to use the Diamondback ok.

I think that's a way to grip a mouse where the weird G302 shape will work well.

The difference in shape to the Abyssus is that the G302 gets slimmer towards the front. You can't have your finger stretched out on the right side of the mouse because the sides disappear to the inside. You need to have that right-side finger curved like it seems it is in your picture. I think that's what makes the shape too weird for a lot of people.

I have both G302 and G303. The sensor of the G302 seemed to work perfectly at 800 dpi and 960 dpi and 1040 dpi (you can't use 1000 dpi). I think it also drew perfect shapes in Paint at something like 1600 dpi, but I don't remember for sure.

The two mice were so close to each other that things on the outside was beating the sensor in importance for the feel, like how the particular mouse feet of the two were gliding on the pad and how the different cables are pulling on the mouse. The lift-off-distance is very low for the G303/G502's sensor. That's the easy to see difference between the two sensors.

The G302 cable is pretty annoying, but I also don't really like the G303 cable (which should be similar to the G502). I like the thin Razer Abyssus cable a lot better.

There's two strange, slim mouse feet around the sensor in these mice. The material for those on my G302 was crappy and scratchy on the mouse pad. I had to rip those feet off on the G302, while on my G303 it seemed to be Teflon and smooth and that's perhaps the same with the G502.

About the G502, you should be worried about the weight (a lot heavier than an Abyssus) and if it being longer still works with the way you use the mouse. The picture you took of your hand looks like you sometimes like to have some distance between your palm and the mouse and use just the fingers to move the mouse around. The longer G502 shape might make it so you can't pull the mouse towards you easily with the fingers. I have a similar grip as what's in your picture, and I used the G402 for a while. I liked its shape for things like FPS games where its large horizontal movements on the mouse pad, but it was a bit annoying for vertical movements.

It's the thumb area that i and a lot of others have problem with. To make it worse, behind the outwards bump the material changes to that weird glossy transparent plastic for the lighting effects which makes it hard to grip

The lift-off-distance is very low for the G303/G502's sensor

It's extremely low, to the point where i would consider it a sensor defect. It malfunctions without leaving the ground if the mouse tilts and the layout of the mouse feet, general 6/10 - 7/10 stability is enough to make it annoying - i actually have some cd's right next to me at the moment and there is ZERO tracking at 1cd on black cloth (qck+). That's simply too low even for those who want to optimize and have as low as reasonably usable LOD, i am surprised to see no response or sensor tuning in response to this. This is the default LOD, if you use the sensor tuning feature it actually goes even lower

00:00 to 00:02 here is still probably the best example i have of this, i don't record myself with mouse much and it happens more with jerky movements. The mouse feet kinda caught awkwardly and the mouse jumped off the pad a tiny bit; tracking stopped dead, so now you fall short of the jump you was trying to make and lose track of your cursor for a few seconds

Thanks for your input. A few things that I think I need to mention:

- I tend to hold my Abyssus that way because I dont install Razer synapse, so I cant turn off the blue LED and it tends to get warm during long session of gaming. Mirror edition plastic finish make thing worse I guess, to the point where my palm will feel uncomfortably warm (ok a bit of exaggeration here, but it's warm), otherwise I will hold it closer to my palm I guess. But during lazy time, that is the grip style.

- Mouse feet are very important to me, as I hate the scratchy feeling when using my mouse, it must glide smoothly like butter.

- Weight: not sure about my preference. Abyssus does feel nice to use for long period, but sometimes I feel it's a bit too light to control firmly when I want to make small movement.

- DPI: 1000 is kind of an arbitrary number I choose. I'm comfortable with 1800dpi, but I dont feel particularly accurate, often time a few 10s pixels off. I was thinking that either better sensor or different DPI will help, like may be 1000 because it's close to the height of my screen 1080 (or may be even use 1080dpi lol). But for all purposes use, may be 1600dpi will be less taxing when moving across dual monitor setup. So need to experiment on what DPI is best and then some time to retrain muscle memory.

So I'm considering buying a new mouse because I think my hands and wrists could use a different mouse for a change. Currently I'm using the Logitech G400 - the same mouse I've basically always used as previously I used the MX510 and MX518.

What I'm looking for is suggestions for a mouse that has a lower profile. The width and length of the mouse aren't as important, as long as the height is lower than that of the Logitech mouse.

I've been looking into different options such as the Deathadder or the Rival, but they seem to be somewhat similar to the G400 in terms of height.

Thanks in advance!

If you want a heavy-ish palm grip mouse it's one of the best in the world

Finally picked up G502. First impression so far, ... I guess I overhyped it XD.
It's okayish, I love the feel of the mouse compared to my Abyssus mirror, but the cord is a bit hard. Scroll wheel need some time to get used to. Weight is okay, I can feel the mouse in my palm and it feel more controlled. So far no complaints about the mouse feets. LMB and RMB, feel a bit stiff.
As for the sensor, I am still trying to familiarise myself with 1000dpi (dropping from 1800dpi) so nothing much to says about it except I need more desk space to move around.
I guess it's a nice mouse to have, slightly towards the expensive end, but kinda worth it if I dont have a mouse yet. But it's not a massive upgrade from Abyssus or some other alternatives. Still love it though

can anyone recommend me a mouse that has roughly the same shape as a Kinzu w/ a good sensor (basically a good palm grip mouse with avago 3310, 3090 etc.)?

Abyssus only doing 1800dpi properly and having to use an unsupported old driver is actually a significant issue when looking at mice in 2015

Zowie offers a wide choice in ambidextrous mice, you should find something that suits you. I'd only be wary of the stiffness of the clicks for RTS use, those on the FK1 were really hard to press, but on the EC2-A they're fine, don't know about the other models!
