need a case, monitor, cpu cooler, optical drive, and OS
I don't know how much I care if I can watch Blu rays, I don't need to burn them that's for sure. I know the hyper 212 is recommended alot, but something a little nicer, like $40 range is cool if I can get one a little quieter.
BSOD codes for overclocking 0x101 = increase vcore 0x124 = increase/decrease vcore or QPI/VTT...have to test to see which one it is 0x0A = unstable RAM/IMC, increase QPI first, if that doesn't work increase vcore 0x1E = increase vcore 0x3B = increase vcore 0x3D = increase vcore 0xD1 = QPI/VTT, increase/decrease as necessary, can also be unstable Ram, raise Ram voltage 0x9C = QPI/VTT most likely, but increasing vcore has helped in some instances 0x50 = RAM timings/Frequency or uncore multi unstable, increase RAM voltage or adjust QPI/VTT, or lower uncore if you're higher than 2x 0x109 = Not enough or too Much memory voltage 0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU) 0x7E = Corrupted OS file, possibly from overclocking. Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r

@89vision Are you asking for help or just telling? Do you have a lot of bluray disks? If not then buying a bluray player "just in case" is probably uncessesary. You can get an external if it comes to that. Just get a Samsung SH-222AB or something in that range. I'm not sure why you want a more expensive cooler but Geldid Tranquillo is decent and in that price range. If you can find the Scythe Mugen 3 for that price it's also an option. Case and monitor is usually more of a preference. Just read in the thread what's being recommended for miditowers (Cooler master 912+ and such). For monitor it comes down to how much you want to spend.
Asking for help about the cooler mostly. I've read the 212 is kind of loud, but if I go with a case like a lian li or something designed to be quiet will that have a greater impact on noise than spending $20 more on a quieter cooler?
If you use variable fans speeds on you cpu heatsink (changing depending on temp) then it can often be drowned out by the case and gpu fans under load. If the choice is between a quiet(er) cpu fan and a sound isolating case, I'd take the case since it helps against both. That said I don't know how much difference in $20 would do (also more expensive heatsinks can often be louder because of increased cooling capacity). I don't believe the hyper 212 is that bad anyway in the noise department so if you can afford something like a Fractal design R3 case then I'd focus on that primarily.
Yes. Predictably, they're out of stock. A week or two ago, Amazon was selling HD 6870s for like $130...Amazon is a pretty sweet place for the odd product (I think they still have the cheapest Silverstone FT02s).
I am strictly using the computer for streaming console shooters with the black magic intensity pro. im looking to stream at 1080i @ 60fps or 720p @60fps/30fps. and might be doing a little gaming when Diablo 3 comes out. Is this a good build?? any suggestions/advice would be much appreciated
I got myself a new computer and this thread helped me a lot. I forgot to say this earlier so I'll say it now Thank you very much, you were really helpfull.
I have a question : I've been seeing people put both the SSD and HDD together in one PC.... They say that SSD is used for performance and HDD is used for storage...
I don't really get it,, so where will you store all the programs ? (like Win 7, Starcraft 2, etc).. how will they divide the usage of the SSD and HDD ??
The reason people buy both ssd and hdd is because ssds are expensive as f.... You put the os and programs you use often on the ssd for faster loading times and such. Depending on the size of the ssd you either use the hdd for storage and/or installing other programs that don't fit on the ssd. Just think of it as 2 hdds, one being faster than the other. Nothing strange really.

NCIX is a Canadian retailer, Newegg is an American retailer. Different pricing... newegg.com does not ship to Canada and ncix.com does not ship to the states.
You don't need a 700w power supply ... A ~500w power supply or even less like the XFX Core Edition 450 for $50 ($30 after mail in rebate) is perfectly capable of such a configuration.
You also don't need a Radeon HD6950 since it's just going to be a paperweight in your configuration.
You also need a capture card, no?
The G43 for $130 is also overpriced... this can be found for like $120 or lower.

I think I read you need to pull them through from the other side with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Run integrated graphics for now, and buy a graphics card if you actually do want to play Diablo 3 at higher than lowest settings. By the time D3 is out, there will probably be new graphics cards on the market. And unless you want to max out the graphics settings, you won't need anything nearly as expensive as a HD 6950.
The RAM also looks suspiciously expensive for just 4GB.
