There aren't that many good deals on mid-to-high end power supplies at the moment. Cheapest that is high end is XFX XXX Edition 750W at $115.
Corsair CX500 V2 is a slight downgrade from the Neo Eco but has the cables, at $50: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=60329
I recommend getting the NZXT Hale82 650W, since it's a couple steps up in quality and selling for $70 (a good deal): http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=65503
Yeah, that's over double what the system needs, but oh well.
I'm not so sure about the Acer GD235HZ. IIRC the Acer 120 Hz monitors aren't worth it; prad.de has a pretty lukewarm review for the GD245, at least. I think you may as well just spend $50 more on a Samsung S23A700D: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=65834&promoid=1254

I've been looking around for one but I'm not even sure what to look for, 6 pins, 6+2 pins etc. What's a high end PSU with enough molex connectors ?? Final build + Show Spoiler +
Why are you spending so much money on the videocard if you are only playing at 19xx x 12xx? but enjoy

What is your budget? ±1000$ (R8000 in South Africa :D)
What is your resolution? 1680 x 1050. This is the highest my monitor supports, (Syncmaster 226BW which I've had for more than 3 years) but because my upgrade cycle is very long, I could end up getting just a new monitor sometime in the near (read 2 years) future.
What are you using it for? Mostly gaming. I would love to mess around with streaming, but would not like to base decisions about the parts on that. Games I would be playing are FPS and RTS.
What is your upgrade cycle? So my last buy was about 4 years ago, so I guess 4 years+
When do you plan on building it? Sometime in August but if there is something that would be worth waiting for, there's not too much of a rush.
Do you plan on overclocking? Not planning on overclocking unless someone convinces me otherwise
Do you need an Operating System? Nope
Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No!
Where are you buying your parts from? Various South African parts dealers like sybaritic, pinnacle etc.
Additional Info This is probably going to be the last PC I get before I'm going to have to start buying my own (Not that I won't by some of this anyway.) so it should last a fair while, keeping up with games to come out in the next two years or three. I have a 2 TB Western Digital SATA3 which I got fairly recently, so I don't think I'll need a new HDD. (but then again, I don't know a thing about building computers or about recent technology; this is the first time my dad has told me to sort it out myself) I don't want a SSD, they cost way too much (in this country anyway)
If anyone is kind enough to give me a build or some pointers in the right direction, I will be very grateful. Thanks so much guys ♥

A 680 is definitely not overkill for a 120Hz 1920x1080 monitor.
And I concur with Myrmidon on the monitor, @InfectedGoat don't get the Acer. Go for the Asus VG236H if you want glossy or the BenQ XL2420T if you want matte. I mean you can get one of the Samsung 120Hz as well but then you won't have 3D vision, which can be pretty cool (hard to say without trying though, some people don't like it).

How do you install a second graphics card (bridge) i have a GTX 560 and I bought another one for cheap, do I have to install drivers ect. or just plug in with the bridging chip and go? My mobo is sabertooth x77 and it has 2 ports, thanks :D
|
|
No it's not.
750w unit is overkill.
Intel 520 is outdated and only 60gb...?
16gb of memory for gaming??? Why waste money on memory when you don't even have a GTX 680 or core i7 or 256gb SSD?
Missing an aftermarket heatsink.
Missing a case.

You install it, then you reinstall drivers to avoid them pissing and moaning, then you open the nvidia control panel, select the SLI tab under 3d settings, check maximize 3d performance, and hit apply.

Bah I bought the samsung one already, I read some reviews and it seems decent. All I really wanted was the 120hz, don't care too much about 3d stuff

RAM is rated for 1.65V. You may as well just get something at 1.5V, which is what the processor is supposed to run with.
Plextor M3 is good, but I don't think it's worth $60 more than a Crucial M4: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442
Corsair CX V2 is not bad, but it's definitely a low-budget medium-quality power supply. What's the 600W version for? It's not enough to comfortably run two GTX 670s, yet it's too much for one. You may as well get the much higher quality Rosewill Capstone 450W for a comparable price (not counting rebate): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066
HAF X is outrageously large (edit: well, not exactly larger than the huge full towers, but still) and expensive for what you need for a system like that. All the extra fans are to compensate for the huge volume of air inside—it's easier to cool a computer in a case that doesn't have as much air inside.
To be honest, I'd just get the Hyper 212 Plus. It's $15 less than the EVO. I doubt the EVO is that much of an improvement. If you wanted something of a higher tier, then you can spend more, but that's a pretty incremental change.

If you bought one of the Samsung monitors in the monitor thread, then you haven't done anything wrong if you don't like 3D. They're good monitors for what they are.

okay, so i swapped the plextor ssd with the crucial m4, swapped out the hyperx blue 8gb ram for: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145345
also swapped the power supply & the EVO for what you recommended.
also went to a 500gb hdd since i wont need a tb. dont really download music or movies at all.
do you have any recommendations for a good case? guy convinced me down there. best case/price you would recommend?
edit: i will be playing at 1920x1080 resolution. For the gpu, can i do a lot better with 'bang for buck'? something that will run great on high/ultra but maybe isnt as expensive? any ideas for that? if i could shave 100 bucks off the gpu thatd be awesome. i'm playing & streaming sc2 & playing skyrim atm, might dive into future pc games but not atm.
edit: removed the graphics card for the time being & also added this:
LITE-ON Black 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM SATA 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu Ray 3D Feature IHBS112-04 - OEM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106369
also added this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811815004
I think im going to go with this monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009222
need advice for gpu & anything else! thanks guyz
right now at about $1250.

Well considering you're not even playing at 1920 x 1080 you definitely dont need a gpu of that caliber. Even if you were you still don't need a gpu of that caliber. A single 6850/GTX560TI will run 99% of games perfectly fine on high.
As for cases "pretty good design" is in the eye of the beholder. I don't place much on aesthetics as I'm never just staring at my case, HAF912 is a pretty good relatively cheap case. I'm sure skyr can come in here and give you a little more in detail about certain things though.

Asrock Z68 Extreme3 isn't $138. Asrock is generally overpriced in Canada.
2500k and z68 are meant for overclocking. If you are not overclocking than get a non-K suffix processor and a H67 or H77 motherboard.
$51 for memory is overpriced.
GTX 550 Ti is shit and overpriced at $132. Radeon HD6850 is a much better option.
Not sure what silverstone power supply you're talking about as there are none at $44. For such a low-end build, just get the Antec Neo Eco 450C for $35.

Seriously, look at the past five pages and use any parts that people recommend. While you're at it, read the OP. When was the last time on earth people recommended AMD processors?
From page 1180:
Depending on your monitor's resolution you may want to upgrade the video card.

430 Elite for $50 is an overpriced case. Might as well step up to the HAF 912 for slightly more.
Coolermaster 460w power supply is shit. Get a Corsair CX430v2, Earthwatts 380D, or Antec Neo Eco instead.
It'd be in your best interest to build with Intel.. since AMD sucks.

ivy bridge bundle
versus
other one....
i have heard on here to go intel rather than amd so im going with people that know more than i do. so my question is i mainly play sc2 and this is my first pc build, so is there anything on here that is overkill or might be lacking? im really only trying to spend around 500 to 600 not counting the fact that i need an OS and a monitor. thanks for the help.
also another edit LOL would it be cheaper just to buy parts by themselves? and would a circuit city or similar store have better pricing than newegg or tigerdirect?
