Until recently I was all about D3 but it seems them are removing every aspect of the game that I liked in D1/D2. So leaning back towards SC2 for now.

Actually the biggest problem is that D3 will suffer the same fate as D2, it just won't capture the same originality as D1. I don't know how many people remember, but prior to D2's launch, lots of fans wanted to have a balanced PvP/arena system. I guess I'm just disappointed that there really isn't anything new. At least War3 had innovative ideas(for better or worse), the core gameplay is identical in all the diablos.

Serious? I thought it was the other way round... D1 was really really really frustrating because you kept getting damn books you couldn't use! Like it was such a gamble to go Mage because there was a chance you'd never get any decent books. And then when you went warrior you felt so bum when you got some epic book you couldn't use. I think they're gonna have the best of both worlds with the 3rd one because now you 'find spells' (like D1) that modify the spells you level up (like D2).

Although perhaps you found the 'all in' approach of D1 skills/spells more appealing... i just found it frustrating as hell :p

p.s. I heard the SC2 map editor is so uber-powerful, they're actually making D3 in it.

yes, actually. it was closed after only one day or so, and I just remembered it. there isn't really anything happening with sc2 at the moment, so i thought i'd bring this back up for the time being.

SC2 is just ahead. Can't wait to watch epic games on it and my competitive edge is revving up. D3 is close though, should be fun to plod around with some pals.

Diablo 2 has infinite iterations of fun. Starcraft has infinite possibilities, but you never see that at the skill levels I'm capable of playing. /shrug. Voted D3. Starcraft is still number 2 on my best games ever list, but D2 is just... the most fun I've ever had gaming.

You post this in a Starcraft forum, what result did you expect

I'm into RTS. In an RPG your character is defined by the gear level and player skill. Player skill is capped by gear level. Blizzard is unfair that way. In RTS, your skill is all that matters.

Starcraft2 all the way.

D3 might be fun to play on the side with a few friends but the oh so important competitive factor sucks in D3 compared to Starcraft2.

Diablo 3 looks like it'll be horrible, purely from the ridiculous problems seen in trailer footage. Not game problems, i'm talking design and attitude problems. A bright and cheery world where heroes do insane WHOOSH and BAM physics-defying NEON FIRE attacks like some sort of cocaine-tripping children's anime is not at all a sequel to two games that were grim, gothic, and mundane-for-the-most-part. Like in d1 and d2, heroes swung weapons, shot arrows, and cast spells. In d3 it's more like they shout move names and do all sorts of cool s**t just to impress kids. Like ULTRA BARBARIAN CHOP!!!!!!!! *small leap, sudden kinetic change straight down, NEON BLUE FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!*

In other words, if Blizzard is approaching D3 with this design attitude, the game won't be anything like the first two, and I won't like it.

Why the hell are there so many votes for D3 on a hardcore SC fansite like TL Diablo is just click click click click, oh look I leveled up, time to click some more. If I wanted something like that, I'd rather play WoW.

Starcraft 2 all the way. Diablo 3 looks like loads of fun, but for me, classic Starcraft feel + easier to play (always a plus for a n00b like me) + new units + pretty graphics + epic RTS campaign + uber-powerful map editor + competitive e-sports scene > pretty graphics + RPG + unique classes + smashing stuff. Call it an opinion, though...

I've thought about it too many hours for it to not dominate my free-time and interests.

Sc2, easily.

I loved the first diablo, for some reason didn't really enjoy the second one at the time, and was pumped at the news of the announcement for the third one. That said, SC2 is my most anticipated game, by far, D3 is just another cool game on the horizon that I am eagerly waiting for, I just dont think it'll consume all my thoughts and free time like SC2 will.

Having played WoW for 3 and a half years I can safely say there's zero reason of getting diablo3, ZERO. Secondly, I don't understand the double standard of sc2 must be perfect for competitive play, yet it sounds like many will be playing d3 for fun. That's why blizz makes games fun first and everything else second. Really though, I dont want it to be perfectly competitive, its alright if its not, because wc3 was lots of FUN and even when I stopped 1v1ing, I constantly played 2v2 and lots of custom maps that were just amazing and tons of fun. So really, don't look at just one facet of sc2(1v1) and pretend that if that isn't good enough then you'll just not play it. You play casually? Play custom maps and never be disappointed because tons of people will be playing which means tons of maps being made constantly.
