during the stay at homestory cup #4 back in october I was interviewing Reynor, HeRoMaRinE, Lambo, RotterdaM, Lowko, PtitDrogo, Dennis Take Gehlen, Kelazhur and EonBlue - asking who is the favorite to win Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2022 and becoming the world champion of Starcraft 2.
So here are the predictions from the players/casters:
The Interviews are part of a bigger Videoproject I am planning on making about the starcraft 2-scene. So this is also kind of first teaser for this project, which might take some more years to finish.
Because I made those Interviews back in ocotober, the predictions might acutally be a little bit outdated - I hope nobody minds me posting it nontheless.
As of now my prediction for the semi-finals would be: Maru, Zest, Serral and Rogue. The one favorite to win IEM Katowice for me would be Maru.
Who do you think will become the next world champ?
P.s.: I am open to criticism about the video, feel free to adress things you did not like about it. Also: Feel free to use parts of the video for your own use / react to it.

I think by "them" you refer to the footage from the previous IEM Katowices? It is all out on Youtube. In the top right I wrote down the source, whenever I used clips from ESL/Blizzard. That's also the reason I am not able to monetize this video. For the documentary I am planning on making in the next 3 years, I will of course only use footage I have the full rights to.
But if you meant to ask where I managed to finde all the players/casters for the Interviews: I kindly asked TakeTV if I can film during Stay at homestory Cup in the TakeTV studio. This event was -afaik- the first tournament post covid outbreak, where at least some players attended offline.
So no, I am not working for ESL or something - "just" for some german television news - and starcraft 2/filmmaking is my passion.

The interview was done during SAHSC4, that was right after Serral winning his DH Global Final and a DH Europe convincingly, so obviously most of the answer would be Serral-favored at that point in time. Maru and Rogue running streak at the end of the year and recent months would probably change a lot of that opinion now.

Saying someone has no personality is basically a direct attack on their personhood. It's a lot more offensive than calling someone boring. I think Serral is a lot more boring than Rogue personally. Yeah, your opinion that Serral shows more personality than Rogue and Maru is at best heavily biased in favor of Serral and against Rogue and Maru, because objectively seen he doesn't show much more personality.

I'd like to see Maru win it just to round out one of the few gaps in his career, but if he doesn't then I hope it's a Protoss so we can see what kind of mental gymnastics some of our fellow Community Experts have to go through to explain why the race still has no hope.
The problem is that we are getting to the point where we are pretty far out from the last major tournament, and it's very consistent with SC2 history to have significant player level swings, even with the caveat that everyone will be prepping hard for such a huge tournament.
Remember when we joked about foreigner fans saying korean players have no personality while their favourite was Neeb or Serral in like 2016? I didn't know ignorance like that was still around.
Either way, Serral, Rogue, Dark, Reynor are the favourites. As they always are with world championships. Zest or Maru winning would be fantastic however so I'm cheering for them.
Zest, he's really been figuring out ZvP over the last few months. I think he can comfortably defeat everyone except Maru who is the current best in the world and Serral who has ZvP down to a science.

I think Zest's in good shape but I doubt he can brawl his way through the whole bracket. Maru I feel like is in excellent form, and Rogue and Dark I have the mental fortitude to win the whole thing, something I have seen Serral lack sometimes, at least after his 2018 stint. Oh who am I kidding, Scarlett's gonna win the whole thing it's not even gonna be close

That invite to criticism is something I'd like to use. A general rule for good feedback is to mention 2 good things for every 1 bad thing you mention, called "2 stars and a wish" in the discourse terminology. Stars: 1. Good pacing. The interviewed weren't talking for too long, which often is allowed to happen by amateurs. They were talking, some relevant footage was cut in and the video moved on. Very good for this short of a video. 2. Good usage of other footage. The footage felt both relevant and it wasn't used too much. The cuts between person and other footage felt very natural. You often showed the person more than one time. I liked that. Wish: The sound of the other footage was too loud compared to the people talking. The swap between was jarring to my ears. Adjust the sound levels between different footage used. I would have preferred if the actual interview was the louder of the two, but only slighlty louder (barefly noticable difference). Now it was the opposite.
Stars: 1. Well picked music track. The music wasn't dominating while also giving a bit of tension to the ambience. 2. The text added to clarify stuff (MaxPax isn't participating) was a good thing to include. Having a small correcrion or reminder when it is relevant is good. It should be there long enough to be read by everyone without needing to pause or rewind to read it. Wish: Lower the music slightly. A few of the interviewed was a bit hard to listen to for me. I have a hard time differentiating sounds, and I know that I am not the only one. Reynor could be heard just fine, but the next 2 were hard to hear. So the music volume was only a tad to high.
Then the main question of who I think will be the champion. Rogue is my strongest guess even if he hasn't shown many strong games the last couple of months. Serral could take it on raw baseline performance being high. Maru looks to be the strongest player at the moment, but he often has weird losses in big tournaments so he is my #3. I hope that Clem shows great games and I anticipate herO making a big splash.
My heart says Zest is Best and that he will make the unoffical champion of the world obsolete by just not playing after becoming the World Champion.
