SC2 is a bit of an old boys' club where everyone involved in the event are friends and it makes it hard for grassroots talent to make an impact. And it also leads to complacency and kind of meh casting. I'd rather have people fully committed on the main stage than people who cared about SC2 a few years ago and is casting to pay the bills and because they're friends with Apollo.
For me personally, Creighton and Grant are cool personas, but they are just impossible to listen to. And I like all the other casters much better so quite happy with the lineup
Some seem to have adopted a kind of labour theory of value regarding casters, where all that matters is how much work you've put in, and things like talent and charisma are not discussed. Funny when contrasted against the brutal competition that they are casting.

ESL in February: same schedule for every day
Not complaining, just entertained.
I never expected them to start on different times over the days. It would honestly make 0 sense. For the viewers. And also for the players, as it would absolutly mess with everyones sleep schedule.
I always interpreted that statement as "we try to avoid absolutly horrednus hours for all players and have shorter days"
Like if you have 6h of broadcast time instead of 10, you can cut the most extreme hours for the players.
E.: didn t check the times before, but 15:00 - 19:00 European Time sounds pretty reasonable to me. It s 23:00 - 03:00 for Koreans. Not great for sure. But it s also 9:00 - 13:00 Eastern Time and 6:00 - 10:00 Pacific time. (I belive) So there is not realy a way to start any earlier.
Earlier it would be pretty bad for viewership as well, so I think it is as good as it is going to get for online play.
Well, me personally I rather watch and play from 23:00 - 03:00 than 06:00 - 10:00 So it's not Korean players that are fckd but players in California.
Ofc if the day will become really long it will get worse for Koreans
I am not watching A stream and if I am it's on mute for as long as I can take it. Happy to see the B stream option and C might be very interesting if they try to do a good job. The "A" list have ruined so many games for me I consoled myself with only watching GSL which I really enjoy for so many reasons but now I think maybe I will definitely give B stream a shot. I don't know who grant is but olsen loves starcraft and his job as much as I want someone in that position to love those things.

A has some nice talent as well. Rotti is awesome. PiG is really nice to listen too. Wardi is a bit troubled by his solo casting all the time but really good in general. Harstem and Lambo casting will be my highlight though <3 Hope Lambo will cast lots of ZvX

I mean kudos to whoever came up with the idea of 3 pm CET starts. That has to be the perfect compromise time that everyone is okay with but doesn't make anyone particularly happy.

To be fair Koreans (+ people in Korea or a similar time zone) are the majority of people in the tournament and players in California are just Astrea. So California would definitely lose a popular vote
Also the idea of Artosis casting the IEM Katowice finals from home at like 3 AM KST and everyone having to be very quiet because he has 4 kids amuses me.

So you would suggest the "fuck that guy Astrea in particular" schedule and Start one Hour earlier?

No it's perfect actually, if they start an hour earlier I'll miss more because of work that I'll have to catch up on

Mine too.
Lambo is just awesome to have on board. He has a very good understanding of the game. I remember a few months ago he co-casted Solar vs maybe Raynor, a ZvZ. Solar scouted the third of the opponent with a ling. The other guy went for a 2.5 base roach timing, already pumping units. Lambo calmly predicted that this ling scout will decide the game. Solar failed to scout the lack of drones at the third and then ~2m later lost the game to the incoming mass roach. This kind of insight is amazing to have. And of course there will be Harstem trolling, will be nice.
Im really looking forward to this event! I hope we get some great zvt's and pvt's! Maybe the zvp's could be good but the actual meta doesnt catch me right now..

I'm going to watch the whole event. This is a good opportunity to show my passion even thow it's harder cause of COVID-19. I hope that it will be a nice event, even thow Ping might be an issue for the koreans. But they are good anyway. My big favorite player Maru will do well I hope. Keep my fingers crossed for him. May the force be with you!

So excited for this tournament though
What is Valorant?
Riot's (as in the LoL devs) version of Counter Strike. They've been casting the pro scene in Korea. Granted they don't seem to know whats going on so it seems they're just taking a payday from Riot
