Looking forward to the event!!!! Sad for no Tastosis , the hours are probably not too friendly for them.
Also, love that picture of Grant and Creighton

Looking at the # of sidestreams and the schedule, I'm interested to see they're not planning on having the classic 11+ hour marathon days IEM is known for. More like DH Season Finals days that go 4~6 hours it seems.

Honestly, I like the B-D stream Casters more than some of the Main stream ones. Great to see Harstem and Lambo there as well, they both are realy realy good. Also a bit sad, that Creighton didn t get a Main ging, he s honestly one of the best Hype casters around for me

Just becasue they cast Valorant doesn't mean they're done casting Starcraft. I'm sure they'll cast ASL 11 in the future.
Artosis loves Starcraft

I like seeing Creighton Olsen here, and having pros do side streams for group stage is a great idea (hopefully they'll have guests with them and we'll have some HomeStoryCup-like vibe)

Looking forward to the event, gonna be siiiiiick !

It is a bit sad and surprising but when was the last time Tastosis casted an online tournament? I honestly can't remember ever casting online stuff.

They haven't casted a Katowice since 2018, so it's not like they're exactly a regular fixture...

Would rather pair a pro with Creighton and Grant but w/e. I like Grant and CO. Maybe it's a bit controversial to say but I do wish that main stage was based on the previous year's commitment to SC2 and not on other factors. I won't name names but there's some main stage casters that have contributed a lot less to SC2 in the last year than someone like Creighton.

SC2 is a bit of an old boys' club where everyone involved in the event are friends and it makes it hard for grassroots talent to make an impact. And it also leads to complacency and kind of meh casting. I'd rather have people fully committed on the main stage than people who cared about SC2 a few years ago and is casting to pay the bills and because they're friends with Apollo.

Going to try to watch every single game spoiler-free! Since it's spread out over so many days... should be possible. Is the RO36 BO5?

edit: nm I see it's BO3 on Liquidpedia.

ESL in January:
To adapt to the changing landscape the schedule will be adjusted to play on February 20-28. These three additional days are added to account for schedules around the world to allow players to compete at more comfortable times in their local time.

ESL in February: same schedule for every day

Not complaining, just entertained.

I never expected them to start on different times over the days. It would honestly make 0 sense.
For the viewers.
And also for the players, as it would absolutly mess with everyones sleep schedule.

I always interpreted that statement as "we try to avoid absolutly horrednus hours for all players and have shorter days"

Like if you have 6h of broadcast time instead of 10, you can cut the most extreme hours for the players.

E.: didn t check the times before, but 15:00 - 19:00 European Time sounds pretty reasonable to me. It s 23:00 - 03:00 for Koreans. Not great for sure. But it s also 9:00 - 13:00 Eastern Time and 6:00 - 10:00 Pacific time. (I belive) So there is not realy a way to start any earlier.

Earlier it would be pretty bad for viewership as well, so I think it is as good as it is going to get for online play.

True, I thought this was supposed to basically blizzcon tho, the best tournament without the best casters just feels wrong

While we're on the subject I feel like the pre-requisites for casting have really gone down the gutter, part of why Tastosis is so good is because they're former pros, but not to name names there's some casters there who aren't even masters, hard to give any good insights when you dont understand the game at least at a masters lvl IMO

You don't really have to play at a high level to be entertaining. And even if you actually are lacking in the "insight-departement", you can compensate that with the other shoutcaster.
Also as far as I know Tasteless never was a SC2 pro and Artosis wasn't that succesful in it either...neither were RotterdaM, ToD or even more oldschool casters like Kaelaris or Apollo.
Never was an issue before, don't know why it should be now.

This describes Tastosis really really well. Too much job security is not always a good thing. I like the lineup they have tho ToD woulda been cool too.

For me personally, Creighton and Grant are cool personas, but they are just impossible to listen to. And I like all the other casters much better so quite happy with the lineup

Some seem to have adopted a kind of labour theory of value regarding casters, where all that matters is how much work you've put in, and things like talent and charisma are not discussed. Funny when contrasted against the brutal competition that they are casting.

Well, me personally I rather watch and play from 23:00 - 03:00 than 06:00 - 10:00
So it's not Korean players that are fckd but players in California.

Ofc if the day will become really long it will get worse for Koreans

I am not watching A stream and if I am it's on mute for as long as I can take it.
Happy to see the B stream option and C might be very interesting if they try to do a good job.
The "A" list have ruined so many games for me I consoled myself with only watching GSL which I really enjoy for so many reasons but now I think maybe I will definitely give B stream a shot. I don't know who grant is but olsen loves starcraft and his job as much as I want someone in that position to love those things.

A has some nice talent as well. Rotti is awesome. PiG is really nice to listen too. Wardi is a bit troubled by his solo casting all the time but really good in general.
Harstem and Lambo casting will be my highlight though <3
Hope Lambo will cast lots of ZvX

I mean kudos to whoever came up with the idea of 3 pm CET starts. That has to be the perfect compromise time that everyone is okay with but doesn't make anyone particularly happy.

So it's not Korean players that are fckd but players in California.
To be fair Koreans (+ people in Korea or a similar time zone) are the majority of people in the tournament and players in California are just Astrea. So California would definitely lose a popular vote

Also the idea of Artosis casting the IEM Katowice finals from home at like 3 AM KST and everyone having to be very quiet because he has 4 kids amuses me.

I mean kudos to whoever came up with the idea of 3 pm CET starts. That has to be the perfect compromise time that everyone is okay with but doesn't make anyone particularly happy.

Well, me personally I rather watch and play from 23:00 - 03:00 than 06:00 - 10:00

So you would suggest the "fuck that guy Astrea in particular" schedule and Start one Hour earlier?

No it's perfect actually, if they start an hour earlier I'll miss more because of work that I'll have to catch up on

Hope Lambo will cast lots of ZvX

Mine too.

Lambo is just awesome to have on board. He has a very good understanding of the game.
I remember a few months ago he co-casted Solar vs maybe Raynor, a ZvZ.
Solar scouted the third of the opponent with a ling. The other guy went for a 2.5 base roach timing, already pumping units.
Lambo calmly predicted that this ling scout will decide the game. Solar failed to scout the lack of drones at the third and then ~2m later lost the game to the incoming mass roach.
This kind of insight is amazing to have.
And of course there will be Harstem trolling, will be nice.

I'm going to watch the whole event. This is a good opportunity to show my passion even thow it's harder cause of COVID-19. I hope that it will be a nice event, even thow Ping might be an issue for the koreans. But they are good anyway. My big favorite player Maru will do well I hope. Keep my fingers crossed for him.
May the force be with you!

Also, love that picture of Grant and Creighton

Theyre valorant casters now.

So excited for this tournament though

What is Valorant?

Riot's (as in the LoL devs) version of Counter Strike. They've been casting the pro scene in Korea. Granted they don't seem to know whats going on so it seems they're just taking a payday from Riot

Just a heads up other streams are casting the other games, (since main stream is down currently). Has v DRG with Lambo and Reynor right now
You're getting cynical and that won't do I'd throw the rose tint back on the exploded view
