Hello
I can't seem to find a straight answer to the question of
*How many people play Starcraft2* or how many monthly
The closest I found is one website that shows how many ranked teams there are. But a ranked team can have 5-20 players or something?
Any solid stat on this number? Out of sheer curiosity.
Thanks

One way to discern the daily active users is to count the number of games played per day (provided by rankedftw), and divide that by an assumed number of games the average user will play in a day.
Right now there are 1.21m ladder games played per day across all game modes (1v1, 2v2, etc), weighted by the number of players in each game mode. If we assume that an average active user plays 5 games per day then that translates to 240k daily active users.
As an rough estimate, there's another 250k co-op players, so 500k daily active players total.

If you're looking for something to the equivalent to Steam Stats, Blizzard doesn't provide that and never has.
Ranked FTW is the closest we can get to a "solid stat" on the active player population.

You wouldn't get an accurate number under any circumstance anyways cause with the F2P feature, people often have multiple smurf accounts and thus heavily inflating the actual player count.

Should not the numbers be higher because there are also people who play unranked 1v1 and etc and rankedwtf only counts ranked games?

Probably just to keep the format same with others and archon mode also exists. The game probably treats them as teams of players regardless of what format it is actually.

Right that's confusing me. So is it multiple or single?

With the free to play model it's virtually impossible to know how many people are playing, I myself have about 20-30 different accounts I rotate through ( not actually 20-30 accs but i play on on all three servers and you get 1 acc per server )

Regardless of how we’re estimating those numbers seem pretty decent. I’ve been putting off making my ‘glorious’ return to playing for quite some time but really should get on to doing so!

in-game stats currently say there are 9,430 games being played and 13,634 people in chat channels on the NA server. assuming most, but not all, games are 1v1, that's a total of roughly 35k on NA at peak NA time. add the lower number from the other servers and a daily peak of 50k seems pretty reasonable.
