Yeah that makes a lot more sense. More of a mentor/management role for guys like Fantasy makes a lot more sense than recruiting SC players to strategise.

Was excited both to see a legend conquer another game plus stylistically I enjoyed his approach to the game. Oh well, with Fantasy and Gumigod gone we need a resurgent Taeja or Dream to hopefully bring the pain this year.

I tried to rationalized that as a form of a retirement for accomplished players that e-sport industry encourage for preventing a stereotype that "professional e-sport will ruin your later life", but even that had so much logic holes that doesn't fit as an explanation. theres more to coaching than just gameplay strategy. i highly doubt fantasy would be involved in much in-game related things like analysis, feedback, drafting etc. there are a lot of things players need outside of the game which fantasy would have much experience and knowledge with, not as a coach but as a player himself. coming from skt would be especially valuable i assume, given the teams' success in not just lol but starcraft as well

His decision to return to SC2 after the military was actually a bit surprising in terms of his own personal prospects (given his bigger fanbase in BW - or he could have left esports altogether). However, the decision to leave SC2 now to coach a totally different game, when several of his competitors in Korea are leaving for military service, his form is good and his race will hopefully have better prospects in 2020, also seems a strange one to me.

I can't speak to whether or not this is actually effective, but all I can say is that it's a very common practice. Just among the SC2 players we know, Stardust has been coaching lol for a few years now, while MMA has been coaching Overwatch for a year. I'm just surprised he turned down the Afreeca money, seems easier (maybe more lucrative too?) than coaching another game, i have no doubts he would be among the top streamers. All i heard about Fantasy's work ethic in BW is phenomenal, guys at T1 said he was the first to wake up and play and the last one to go to sleep.
