The ingame footage looks very good. The units move fast and die fast but most importantly it looks like there are HARD COUNTERS and UNIQUE abilities and characteristics, not the same with varying values.
Lots of mineral patches are still there, which means there's a high chance of flexible economics and a large number of workers to play around with. The units don't seem to be stuck in the frontline, but harrass and backdoor attacks look really favored. And the atmosphere is serious and intense.
This is all that we could have hoped for.

THEGRIZZ you are so awesome <3
Collosus looks uninspiring, it's basically a long ranged archon, if you look at zlot+collosus vs lings ling die about same rate as if they're fighting zlot/archon army.
Phoenix looks uninspiring too, beside the crappy shape design, it's just a valkarie which will hit sprite bug haha...
Lol blizz guy tried to micro his blinky dudes, <3

... i wasn't really that serious, but good rational~

Basically what I tried to say but unable to articulate. Well put sir! Unique was the word I was looking for. Hard counter ZOMG yeah! :D

And in retrospect BW1's graphic isn't too great when you zoomed in
I guess it goes the same to every RTS games, things nvr look too awesome in close up view.

HOLY SHIT starcraft2.com !!!
FUCKING BRILLIANT NICE FIND!
GOD I'M SO EXCITED I WONT BE ABLE TO SLEEP

SWEET it says on their website:
Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the magic of the original game
^That means good o' Broodwar!
Vibrant new 3D-graphics engine with support for dazzling visual effects and massive unit and army sizes
^That means MACRO!
# Full multiplayer support, with new competitive features and matchmaking utilities available through Battle.net # Full map-making and scripting tools to give players incredible freedom in customizing and personalizing their gameplay experience
^ THAT means ORGASM!
|
Can we please ban idiots who are theorycrafting and whining about imbalance on a game that hasn't even reached the closed-beta stage?
To stay on topic, I am very excited and the game looks pretty damn good as it is (the visuals), so I can hardly imagine what the final product would look like.
I don't see how anyone can complain about new games having better graphics. Usually, as time goes by, people get better computers. If it doesn't run smoothly on your computer, stop being a cheapass and get a new computer. It's a RTS for god's sake. It won't be insanely high req.
Blizzard always makes significant improvements to interface, multiplayer system and gameplay with each passing game. Remember how they made a working ladder in WC3 after BW? Not to mention the tournament system. Although I have to say it really sucked that they forgot (?) to include replay viewing on battle.net for WC3.

This really brightened up my day..

Something nice about the website:
1. Unit sound! You click zlot it goes "MY LIFE FOR AIUR!" :D
2. Before the loss of Aiur, veteran protoss warriors who had been crippled in battle could volunteer to continue their service by being transplanted into dragoon exoskeletons. Now, the dragoons of the past are all but gone. The sacred shrine that was dedicated to the creation of the dragoons was infested by the zerg and lost along with the protoss homeworld itself. They stand on the front lines of the final war, sacrificing themselves to buy their race a few more days or hours. Soon none will remain.
So NO more dragoons! They're replaced by Immortals... hopefully they have a better AI haha... So NO more dragoons afterbreed in SC3 if they happen to make it.
3. However, the overthrow of Aiur has proven that guile alone cannot defeat a foe as relentless as the zerg. Inspired by the ancient and honored dragoon walkers the dark templar have begun to build war machines of their own. The stalker is a machine controlled by the shadow-essence of a dark templar warrior, willingly fused into its metal body to protect his people.
Okay so DT are still there but there's these DT dragoons... I think DTgoon w/ speedlot will trash siege tank, teleport in for the rape. These things looks like they have great micro potentials, could probably do insane manuvers if you got the brain to think about them.
4. For thousands of years the Protoss have studied the nature of time and space. Through their painstaking studies and experiments protoss researchers have uncovered many of the secrets of the universe. Using psionic manufacturing processes, the protoss have learned how to create a robotic mind whose programming is built into the molecules of an advanced crystal lattice. This "crystal computer" is able to manipulate matter and energy with a precision no ordinary organic mind could comprehend.
So these beauties are the new arbitor, probably gonna get them alot earlier relatively than the current arbiter, cuz the tech tree is in the robo... Great potentials, pylon power could mean maybe Protoss can even caontain a zerg with impromptu teleport and wraping in 10 cannons around it. It is by far, personally, the best designed unit artistic wise.
5. Did you guys notice the voice act are different? They took WC3 voiceactors so it seems... man I miss the old voices though T_T
6. Gateways now have this uber wrapgate upgrade, so once you've made a gateway a wrapgate, you can wrap units(I assume the untis making in the wrapgate) and create it in ANY part of your pylon matrix. Website says it's good to use the phaser to make a temporary pylon matrix and use wrapgate to rally into some remote spot, sounds pretty sweet.
7. Marine statue, anyone fancy? 280 bucks haha https://us.blizzard.com/sc2collectible/starcraft2/menu.html
