To stay on topic, I am very excited and the game looks pretty damn good as it is (the visuals), so I can hardly imagine what the final product would look like. I don't see how anyone can complain about new games having better graphics. Usually, as time goes by, people get better computers. If it doesn't run smoothly on your computer, stop being a cheapass and get a new computer. It's a RTS for god's sake. It won't be insanely high req. Blizzard always makes significant improvements to interface, multiplayer system and gameplay with each passing game. Remember how they made a working ladder in WC3 after BW? Not to mention the tournament system. Although I have to say it really sucked that they forgot (?) to include replay viewing on battle.net for WC3. | ||

Using psionic manufacturing processes, the protoss have learned how to create a robotic mind whose programming is built into the molecules of an advanced crystal lattice. This "crystal computer" is able to manipulate matter and energy with a precision no ordinary organic mind could comprehend. So these beauties are the new arbitor, probably gonna get them alot earlier relatively than the current arbiter, cuz the tech tree is in the robo... Great potentials, pylon power could mean maybe Protoss can even caontain a zerg with impromptu teleport and wraping in 10 cannons around it. It is by far, personally, the best designed unit artistic wise. 5. Did you guys notice the voice act are different? They took WC3 voiceactors so it seems... man I miss the old voices though T_T 6. Gateways now have this uber wrapgate upgrade, so once you've made a gateway a wrapgate, you can wrap units(I assume the untis making in the wrapgate) and create it in ANY part of your pylon matrix. Website says it's good to use the phaser to make a temporary pylon matrix and use wrapgate to rally into some remote spot, sounds pretty sweet. 7. OMG the zerglings really look like a swarm now! Zerglings can be suacide bombs! Burrowing looks awsome! New toss units have really neat abilities (the shuttle/pylon thing, dt goon, new goon etc) Things I don't know about yet: Jump jet infantry? Feels very CnC 3. Tripods, same thing. That ray looks like it could be confusing. Siege tanks, those blasts looks like they could be confusing, dunno about how the unit looks. Zealots having charge - hope it will be an upgrade, otherwise it will be hell to micro against them early game (which it shouldn't be) Things I don't like: Protoss mothership. WTF BLIZZARD? NO SUPER UNITS PLEASE, BRING BACK CARRIERS! T.T;; I hope they keep it clean and make it a bit more gritty and less colourfull. I have high expectations for the new zerg though. ^_^ | ||

If that is indeed what it is (a slow moving cool looking air unit) I'd be pretty happy about it actually. It still feels way to much like CnC, but I guess that is what we could expect with a cnc lead designer. T.T;; Protoss had ONE walker in the first game, now they have 3? Meh, don't ruin the unit design. And if they cut vultures (coolest unit ever) for fucking jump yet infantry... wtf blizzard? Other than that it looks so awsome. To summarize, just based on the coolness factor of the units: Vulture >>> Jump jet infantry. Reaver > Tripod thing Carrier >>>>>> Mothership (WTF blizzard?) On the other hand. But if you are going to talk about copying, make sure you go back to the source, and the source is usuallly a book, turned into a movie, then copied into a game. None of the things people list were afaik original for cnc3. I see other elements that might or might not be inspired by other games, like the warp spiders from dawn of war (and the jump jets again of course), and the creation of units from thin air does remind me of something, I think its actually total annihilation kingdoms, but that game sucked so I'm not going to look it up :p | ||

Even if some things look weird now, I think it will all work out in the end. We probably won't have the best RTS game ever, but something good enough to replace brood war by converting veterans and luring young people into the scene =). | ||

1. Blizzard has stated that their goal is for a fast paced, dynamic sc2 in the spirit of the original starcraft. 2. From the start, their goal is to make "the ultimate competitive RTS". I think those are two of the most important directions they should go, and I'm glad that they recognize this so early. | ||

Motherships are restricted to just 1 unit max and have very powerfull spells, so there is no sense being weaker than BC/Carriers. Artifical unit restrictions are just plain bad and super units suck twice as much. If it wasn't limited in number and is not all powerfull, so you need several of them, I don't mind, but a 1 unit army can hardly be both usefull and balanced. Even if they have weak attacks they should have unleast a rifle, wtf is this pistol bs, why not attacking with their bare hands(a la skeleton karate chops from warcraft 1), that would unleast be badass P.S. Siege Tanks look awful, but I'm sure they'll change that, after all it's not even a beta | ||
