That's totally how it works.

Stats has demonstrated his top-tier skill when the meta was against Protoss earlier in the year. There's no denying that he's one of the best. And now that the meta favors Protoss, there's very little that can stop him in either matchup.
Gratz to him, he's earned his GSL trophy and he probably could have won even without relying on imbalance. But rely on it he did.

Ryung losing in the semis, soO losing in the finals... This has been a very traditional GSL.

I am really sorry for SoO .... He is such a consistant player and would have deserved at least one win...
This Stats was really good though and congratz to him for his victory.

Dang, hope soO never gives up.. great games and great job stats!

sad thing is I think the poll doesn't include the right answer, which is : none. I don't think he'll overcome that blow.
Poor guy.

Pretty underwhelming series. I was yelling at Soo the entire last game almost. The weirdest/riskiest fucking army movements. He straight up handed Stats his lurkers. Sigh. Makes ya wonder.

those stasis wards were so god damn sick

Poor soO, how can i feel so shity for a guy I dont even know?
|
Can we just call soO the second best sc2 player in history now? I think he's earned it.

No, we can't. This isn't a balance whine thread.

Hell Yeah, finally Mr. Stats have it, congratulations.

Game was lost by Soo in first three sets, when he just didn't change his ling-bane-hydra combo against early (imba) adept rushes. Soo lacked some flexibility, like Stats, who prepared oracle's traps thing especially for the finals. Although I rooted for Soo and am really sorry for him, I can't say it's undeserved win. Gratz Stats.

jesus poor soO cheered for him so hard... well gogo there are still tournaments to win !!!!!!!!

Heartbreaking for soO. And the poll is disrespectful, even if it is amusing to see the 'over 9000' Dragonball meme.

I'm not surprised and it's probably skill to make it look that easy. I refrain to judge on game balance but as a viewer it's not entertaining when one unit is THAT dominant.

Do you complain about Marines being 'THAT dominant' in all matchups then? (Not to mention they cost only 50 minerals)
Balance aside I don't think you can argue that Stats clearly prepared for this series. The constant double-pronged stasis wards at the mineral lines was pretty cute and innovative. You could see soO trying to adapt to it by patrolling lines behind the mineral lines to set off the wards, but he didn't respond by pulling drones in time and that ended up slowing down his economy.
I hope someone can go further in depth to see how much damage the stasis wards did in some of those games. Having 5 drones at a time not doing anything can't be good for the economy and I think that was reflected in the games when you could see Stats taking a supply lead which is rare given Zerg is normally up in supply.

Ah feel so bad for soO T__T

Congratulations to Stats, he played incredibly well, specially those first games. But I am so sorry for soO, he played an amazing tournament. I hope he continues trying, the course has to come to an end some day.
