I already saw a name being dropped. :/ innovation? That's the name I saw being dropped indeed. God, just imagine that. Life + INnoVation both nabbed for matchfixing. The scene's probably going to struggle pretty hard this year no matter what at this stage, but that would really smash it to pieces for a while, I'd think. Life was shocking enough. but + INNOVATION ???? if true i am just going to quit starcraft... As for now there's no legit reason to suspect Innovation, pls calm down people!

Personally i don't want sc2 to be wrestling ah yeah I agree with you on that one I was talking from the POV of the guys who live from the scene, they have more interest in a scene with rampant treachery BUT with still some money flowing than in a scene completely clean but with foreign-level of sponsoring and development. That's basically why pro cycling became what it became ; because people in the scene have more short-term interest in trying to cover up the dirty shit, and humans reason with short-term vision. i was going to use cyclism as a reference then i saw your post
something happened recently where the UCI didn't want to investigate on the modified bicycle because it would have hurted agai nthe scene

I couldn't watch proleague today. Did Tasteless tell anything about Life?

Nobody's really going to address that on television, but you could clearly see him bogged down over something, I think the Life situation was clearly the reason.

I'm pretty sure he's been inactive for a while, or at least not as involved as he was before.

I will try to keep it short - I understand that IF Life did anything he is to be held accountible for his doings. Still what most disturbes me is the situation of the progamers and the apparent lack of climate where progamers feel they can do something about the brokers that approach them. Those progamers are no boxers who grew up in rough circumstances, they are pretty much hardcore nerds who play, well one computer game for insane hours, starting very early. Most of them strike me as very capable mentally and i am sure they mature somewhat with their public lifestyle, but when confronted with a completely unscrupulous broker - i mean what kind of a guy pushes gifted and naive Kids into their ruin for profit! I would be no doubt scared shitless in front of such a soulless person. There was a compilation of reactions to the Yoda etc incident and Top wrote:

How is this possible? Kespa should have been scared shitless from this point on, that guy approached multiple players and either a) none of them reported it to their coach or kespa or b) they reported and nothing happened... just reading this you have to believe rather sooner than later a broker will get through to one of the players. We are talking about really talented kids who dont have the guidance of their parents when they move into a progaming house at very early ages... some of that guidance has to be done by coach and support staff. Or at least an atmosphere of trust where player can get protection from organized criminals.

Kespa and coaches can't do shit. They are not the police. Players needs to contact the police in those cases not Kespa or their team management..

No, the players should contact their team management and kespa, and those people should be speaking to the police. Team mgmt and Kespa should be trained and have a procedure in place. These players are young, man.

They do. But all KESPA can do is direct the requests to the authorities and hope the authorities will sort things out. These brokers are reaching out to players through social media, Facebook, nearby friends, etc. KESPA wants to get rid of these things more than anyone else.

Has anyone thought about wether "Life" has had the chance to say "no" to match fixing? We might think, that we always can say no, but can we really? You never know wether he got blackmailed or something.
I don't punish anyone before I know the full story.
From my point of view Life didn't really have a reason for match fixing. I am sad for this guy.

Even more than the temptation involved when offered a lot of money I assume that these brokers also make use of threats, which - especially with the young people progamers usually are - can get to you pretty fast. If you have been living in Korea and know the pressure the kids over there feel from the day they enter elementary school onwards, you might understand why even someone as successfull as life would feel forced to colaborate with such scum that are these brokers. Because like most of you guys, I cannot imagine him doing it for a few thousand dollars only. Whether or not he is innocent from a lawyer's perspective, the real problem are these brokers. Life might have still been underage when he was first approached for all we know... sad story.

Just like you should always have a lawyer present when speaking to the police it seems like a good idea for a young progamer to have a KESPA representative to advise them when speaking to investigators. They're young and in a situation where they could severely screw themselves, an additional experienced perspective is a must if you ask me.

while not the saddest, this is definitely the most shocking news ive ever read regarding professional sc2.
i dont know how to feel. plz tasteless, TELL ME HOW I SHOULD FEEL. HOW DO I FEEL??????!??
|
Are you guys stupid? Since when does SC2 rely on one person? Fine, Life committed a crime and is probably going to jail. How does that stop you from playing the game? Stop being babies and enjoy the game.
Edit: Let me tell you that crimes happen every day. That's not a reason we should quit A, B or C.
